Having a GRAND time - The Official GF Chat Thread PART 3

I just noticed you are going to be at the GF as well as BCV during Christmas. We stayed at the BC when we went in December 2003 and that resort is beautifully decorated as well . Our favorites at Christmas time are the WL, BC, and GF .....not to mention all the great decorations all around the parks as well as DTD.....you are going to have a GREAT time . I have been wanting to go back for the Christmas decorations and festivities, so hopefully we'll make it back in December 2009 . Be sure to come back and post lots of pics . I'm getting excited for you just thinking of all the awesome things to see and do during the holidays .

This is our first trip during the holidays and I am soo excited. I have driven everybody about nuts with my room changes etc. It is soo hard to figure out where you want to spend a special holiday trip without blowing every dime you have. It is also our 10th Anniversary which makes it extra special.

I am very excited about BCV also. We are DVC members and this is our home resort. I cannot wait to see it all decorated.

Here is hoping you make it during Christmas 09. Heck- if I like it enough..I may just go back!

Good Morning All .

Mickeynut We have gone right after Thanksgiving (they begin to decorate that very night) So when you wake up the next day the resort is incredibly decorated! (right down to the poinsetta planted in the courtyard )

Except for the gingerbread house-that takes some time. Its fun to watch it go up (and it smells so yummy )

Supersmart I'm sure it gets even better the closer you get to Christmas ( I think there are carolers singing in the evenings )

It really is magical

I always wondered when they started decorating for Christmas. Thanksgiving is one time of year we haven't been but it's on my list of times to go . I think it would be neat to wake up to all the beautiful decorations . Although I've seen the gingerbread house already up, it would neat to see it going up . Maybe one of these years!!!!

I was just there on Sunday and can't remember the name...something tower I think but this sick brain of mine just can't think of it right now. Tomorrow I"ll be in my car and the directions I printed are in there so I'll look and let you know.
I did nap for about 30 mins and then my phone rang Never fails when I decide to take an afternoon nap the phone is always ringing. Tomorrow dd starts school so up early and out of the house for the morning. Not looking forward to going out

I drive my family nuts every day just saying the word "Disney" . They all know I'm VERY crazy when it comes to that so they just humor me because they know I've lost it and there's nothing I can do about it . I know what you mean about finding it hard to decide where to stay. I am wanting to try RPC next December but we will most likely be there for most (if not all) holiday pricing nights and that will get quite expensive . So I may just go with GV....but that's ok . I'll have 2 in HS next year and I just want them to miss the least amount of days possible because it gets too hard when you miss too many days in HS . But as long as I make it during the holidays again I will be happy . You're trip is getting so close....it will be here before you know it .

What does everyone think of the GF at Christmas???

It is fabulous! I have not been a guest at Christmastime but we are locals and it is part of our Christmas tradition! We go and wander around and get goodies from the gingerbread house and take cute pictures of the kids and listen to the singers and band.

After, we normally go to the MK and eat goodies while we wait in our top secret firework spot!

Morning Chan! I was thinking the same thing!

My schedule is getting busy. DH is back in school. I just began rehearsing on Tuesday nights for praise team. I start back teaching children's choir at church this afternoon so after lunch I will be rushing to get everyone ready and out the door by 3:30! After children's choir we do dinner then the kids go to classes and I have adult choir rehearsal...... Christmas music season is busy for me

Hopefully Lesly will be back soon to let us know how her trip was!

Ugh! Yes - Hanna looks like its going to pay us a visit! They forecasted it to go a little more to the east so that helps some but we are getting ready since it's supposed to become a hurricane again tommorow. It's just not moving much so it's getting harder to predict. I'm doing tons of laundry and getting our stuff together since there';s a high probability we will be leaving tommorow night or early Friday! Yuck- it's been a few years since we've left for a hurricane and you forget what a pain it is to get packed up! I hope B & A are still okay!

So this morning my little princess had the following conversation:
Princess: "Momma when we were at Disney World last time I wanted to go home."

Me: "Really? I thought you liked Mickey's house" (this discussion was making my heart sink).

Princess: "Not home home momma, the hotel home.

I really couln't figure out what in the world she was talking about. I mean she will be 4 in January so there are times her reasoning is just bizare LOL! It finally dawned on me that last year we stayed at the Poly. I can't help but wonder if she was talking about the GF....

Chan - No sick one here . I had some errands to run and just got back . Gotta get my DIS time in before the boys get home from school....which is not even an hour from now . It's gray here, too.....trying to rain . But boy what a change from yesterday's 90 degrees and humid .


Princesses - Hope Hanna gets down graded and misses you.....stay safe .


Mandy - Have fun with choir rehearsal and teaching children's choir . The holidays are so much fun......I just love that time of year .


BlueSkies - I can't wait to get back to Disney next summer. Our last summer trip was 2002.....every trip since then has been in the fall or winter. But summer will most likely be the norm for the next couple of years with my ds' in HS (one this year but both next year ). It's just too much for them to miss 5-6 days at the hs level . But I'm looking forward to lots of relaxing and pool/cabana time in July .

Yuck! It looks like the remanents of Gustav are coming our way too! We need the rain so I guess I shouldn't complain (not to mention we will probably only get 1 inch- not 10+ like down South )

GF at Christmas is FABULOUS!!! This is our first time staying at the GF, but our second December trip. DS is most looking forward to stopping by the gingerbread house each evening to buy a gingerbread cookie to go with his chocolate on the pillow!!
