I hope you get your cake!

Seriously, though, I will confess that we are going to stay at ASMu for the first two days of our wedding trip :scared:. BF said we could add two days, but only if it was less than $250 total. So I am going to the dark side as well...

Amy, before I did that I'd stay at the S/D.....I know it might be a little bit more, but probably NOT MUCH.....You can get cheapy rooms from $149.

At least you are going there first and the GF after.... can you imagine if it was the other way around :faint:

Hmm, maybe I can tell him I got them "cheap" :rotfl: I might have to look into that. He has NO IDEA what our WDW trips cost. Not being dishonest, he just dosen't ask. He knows they are $, but not exactly how much. We can afford what we do, though, I don't go crazy and go overboard, and he enjoys it. He would NEVER enjoy it if he knew the real $ though :)

:scared: We did that with GF/AKL once. BF HATED AKL. That was the time we were upgraded to the Roy Suite, though, so maybe it made us :snooty:

Amy....I know what:idea: ....you can actually BOOK and RESERVE a king bed and the S/D. That might help. ;) Plus they are "heavenly" beds. They really are comfy....as comfy as the GF beds. If you can get teacher, govt. or AAA discounts you can bring the cost of the S/D down....and if you join SPG for free online you can most likely get a free upgrade when you check in.

Actually, we have SPG, and we are both gov't employees (local gov't though, not sure if that counts. I will have too look into it)..

We stayed at the AKL a few years back and I swear it was the trip from hell!!!!!!!!!!! I hated that place... i am sure some have a grand time there but i hated the service and didnt care for the room... we had a savannah view and that was cool.. but other than that we HATED the entire trip... their IPO messed up on so many of our ressies, they could have cared less when we got there... we missed the circus as they wouldnt let the room sitter have an extra room key :sad2: they would NOT bring me a coffee pot... for 3 days i called and finally they brought one and it was broken :sad2: the housekeepers were not good...
the IPO messed up 3 of our dining ressies and we had the platinum plan then ... as i liked the in room sitter that came with it a few years back... the whole trip was a wash. IPO did refund us 1 nights stay for our trouble but seriously... i would have cared less about the money when my kids couldnt even get in to eat :scared1:

wow that stinks! That why its important to have someone on your side who can advocate for you while you are enjoying your vacation. If the IPO messes up do you think Disney sides with. Yeah there employees and then you can be outta luck. Once you are there you are at there mercy.

Well, just something to think about. :) I totally know what you mean about the $$$ and men. DH still thinks the GF costs $500/nt. Whatever.:rolleyes1

:headache: :headache: Well, that's why I stick with my tried and true favorites....my crappiest stays were at the Poly and BWI....both concierge. Both expensive.:sad2: They were laughable at least.

:thumbsup2 Ya. So true. It's good to know somebody has your back if there's any type of issue...I wish I would have known about that stuff when I stayed Poly & BWI:guilty: . Those stays were full of mega aggravations and it took away from the trip because we had to constantly deal with them.

oh and then twice while I was there I had to call to have towels delivered as when we got back from the parks... dirty towels still..no fresh towels. I swear the housekeeper only showed up AFTER i had the manager come to see for herself that our room hadnt even had the trash taken out ...for 4 days!!!!!!!!!!! ohhhh I had a really bad time there!
I will say the lobby is pretty but....

Oh and get this... after we got there we were informed the conceirge lounge was closed the week for an upgrade :rotfl2:
so even though we paid for it we couldnt use it :rotfl2:
hmmm you could have told us that BEFORE we got there

I am sure some of a magical time there but for my family it was the worst trip we HAVE ever taken!

Ya the lobby is pretty. I wouldn't know about the rooms. We do not care to ever try the place. It's out in the sticks. We often take a pass on visiting AK. So not a favorite of ours...

Well, try and post ANYTHING bad about the Poly....I had a stalker for a long time because he didn't like that I dissed his favorite.:rotfl: :rotfl: What a freak.

Dh is such a nut!

I am wearing a little skort this morning... a sports type that is made out of sweat pant material....
anyway its a little short... not mini but above the knee... he comes up to me (he is off from work today) and hugs me and is like ohhh yeah thats...hey you got shorts on under this... :rotfl2: so now he wants to outlaw skorts ... says it takes out all the fun of short skirts :rotfl2:

I thought my Dh was the only one!!! He calls them "chastity skirts"!!!:rotfl2:

When is Lindsay back? I want to hear more about the trip and how her cake turned out. I left my THIRD message at Pop yesterday and still nothing :sad2: I may skip the dang hotline all together and call the resort direct tomorrow while DS is at school and see if I get anywhere that way...

Kristin

Lindsay is back, but busy catching up at work. I think she mentioned she was mostly happy with the cake, but didn't elaborate. Hopefully we'll hear from her today.

Brook -- that's really crappy about AKL. Sorry you had such a hard time. We stayed concierge there, split stay with GF over my 39th birthday and had no problems. In fact, the balcony provided hours of entertainment for my kids when we weren't at the parks and was one of the only times they didn't have the Disney channel on constantly during a trip. I thanked those animals for my sanity! ;) But the rooms were a little dark for my taste. That was my complaint about the Grand Californian -- they were also dark.

I can't believe how close your trip is getting. I can't wait to hear your stories about VIP. I'm confident you'll love it and be as addicted as I am.

And we all know what the trash can is full of in Brook's room.....:rotfl:

Marci~ I am sure some have a great time there and the animals were cool to watch ... but everytime I turned around I was having major issues... it was a daily thing!
I am sooooooo not a picky person I PROMISE but I do expect clean towels once a day :rotfl:

I am sure we are going to have a magical time with the VIP tour. I am not overly worried about the rides, I just want to make sure savannah has an extra magical time for her birthday :goodvibes

You are so naughty.:rotfl:

Here's Jojo and Tatum running out to the climber...part is hidden behind trees, but they really never use it. :rotfl: So not worth it......

OK, and I had to post this one...I thought it was so pretty and I am hot here today.;) Oh....gosh I shouldn't post THAT on THIS thread...I mean it's HOT WEATHER here today.:rotfl:

I thought my Dh was the only one!!! He calls them "chastity skirts"!!!:rotfl2:

yup DH is ranting about them :rotfl2:

The skort i have on you cant tell there are shorts under it... it just looks like a cute little skirt and well... cute little skirts and DH's minds a go a wandering :rotfl2: then all his dreams are dashed when he finds out there are shorts underneath :rotfl2:

No apologies! You had a number of problems, not just the towels so I don't think you're being picky. I'd have been furious about the towels, along with the trash, coffee pot and the lounge being closed without notice. It's amazing how different stays can be. When were you there?

Channing -- I find it hilarious you call AKL the sticks... Come to Kaufman and I'll drive you 10 or 15 miles to the sticks... :rotfl:

We really like AKL, but maybe that was because we had an "interesting" stay at POR the year before and I was so glad NOT to be staying at a moderate.

Our 2005 trip to POR was DS's first trip and our first time back in nearly 6 years. It was our first time NOT staying deluxe. There were 3 people ahead of us to check in and it took 30 minutes (only 2 windows open while other CM's just milled around back there :confused3 ) Our CM was less than magical to say the least. We came in the day after Wilma and the computers were crazy. They couldn't activate the DDP for the first 2 days of our trip. Their response "Sorry but what can we do?" I WAS MAD!!!!!!!!! I demanded to see a manager, who was hiding in the office. I was told that it would "be awhile." Finally they told us to charge our meals to the room and they would reimburse them. DH went to check on status of the DDP on the second night after our arrival and he was given new cards that allegedly had everything OK. We get to AK at 8:15 for an early ADR and they dolts forgot to put our park tickets on them :scared1: A CM gave us a day pass and sent us on our way. We only stayed at AK part of the day since I was so mad and wanted to get it fixed. FINALLY we got a good CM who was very empathetic, took care of the whole thing, reiumbursed our meals, but didn't subtract them from the DDP (so we had extra to use- luckily I had extra meals booked that we were to pay OOP that now we didn't need to)

Never, never again will I stay there...

we stayed there june of 2004.

I can only hope they changed since then ....

and hopefully have fired that mousekeeper!!!:scared1:

I swear I have heard such HORROR stories about mousekeeping, but we have ALWAYS had great service irregardless of the resort (and I think we previously established my view on tipping ;) )
