On a brighter note over the weekend, it was DD's prom. I made tuxedo strawberries for the after party - a big hit! She had a blast and I made it through my first "mom" prom!

Minnie...OMG that is horrible. So sad. I am glad your friend and her little baby were OK. How tragic for her neighbor. It's heartbreaking. This weather is unreal. I just read a post a bit ago on the GF thread about a Minnesota family that lost their house a year ago in a tornado.

Your daughter is lovely and your strawberry tuxedos look delicious!! I want one!!! Looks like you did a fabulous job.

I will say a prayer for the little one that lost his life. I am so sorry.

HELLO!! I'm Back!!!

My laptop was burning the Saturday before Mother's Day. Seriously, I went to plug it in and a puff of smoke came out from the plug - scary! Thankfully right before I emailed some important docs to myself and DH backed up our photos, but other than that I have still tons of stuff on my old computer that I need to somehow access. DH has to have it repaired. It's something to do with just the plug connection, nothing inside thankfully.

But life without a computer is so strange!! I read a few books (Reality Land- True Adventures of WDW was interesting!) but I really felt lost without my computer!!! So for a Mother's Day present DH ordered me a pretty ferrari-red Gateway laptop that seriously took forever to arrive. Better late then never!

Other than my computer troubles, we've been busy getting our summer house ready for the season. Looks like I'm going to stay there with the kids the month of August. I'm going to enroll DS4 in day camp that month (camp for the whole month up in the country would cost me not even one week here in the city!!!)

Our WDW trip is coming up fast. 15 days to go. I have to start packing!

DS4 has two weeks left of school. For their year end celebration their performing show tunes in a little broadway tribute show. His class is singing I'll Never Grow Up from Peter Pan. So cute!

Well, I've missed you all and have tons to catch up on. Of course the first thread I check out was the food porn photos!

I'll be busy these next two weeks before our trip, but will try to chat when I can.

HELLO!! I'm Back!!!

Read you're looking into Ipods. DH got me a Nano a few months ago, I love it. I had a Shuffle before that and hated it! It was small and very easy to use but I hated that I couldn't select the music. It would always play my most recent songs over and over. It got really annoying. I love my Nano. It's still small but I have control now. Plus I love listening to the podcasts and I wouldn't know how to find them on the Shuffle. I'd seriously lose music on that thing.

DH bought mine at the Apple store on Fifth Avenue. He got me silver because the colors were $50 more and it didn't really matter since I have a red leather case for it.

I'm thinking about buying him some wireless headphones for Father's Day for his Ipod. They use the bluetooth technology. Circuit City had a pair for $79.

I bought a pair of Havianna Slim flip flops and they destroyed my feet!

I wore them all day. I must have walked about 6 miles in them and I had two huge cuts in between my toes. I had to double up band aids and moleskin for a week! I was actually getting worried with our trip coming up in two weeks if my feet would be okay for walking WDW. I'm so scared to wear them again. There is no way I would ever wear them in WDW.

I'm okay now, but I'm so scared to put those flips back on.

I'm going to stick with my skimmer sneakers for WDW. At least I've broken them in from walking around the city.

I just don't know how people can walk miles and miles in flip flops. I can't. They just tear up my feet.

We live in S.C. and we wear flip flops everywhere, pretty much all year except in January/ February - the dead of winter down here!
I guess because we are so used to them ,we have no trouble walking all over the parks in them! But if your feet aren't used to them I can see how they wouldn't feel too great.

I am so sorry to hear about the devastation that your friends and their neighbors have suffered. I live in an area affected by Hurrican Katrina, and we have many many friends and relatives affected. They will be in my prayers.

I have the silver Nano too and love it. It's exquisite. It's amazing how something that small is just so perfect and user-friendly. I have it in my car to play thru the stereo. I also use the iPod part of my beloved iPhone all the time.

I love my Havaianas but wouldn't wear them for lots and lots of walking either. I wear them for running errands but couldn't wear them into the parks, for example. I tell you, though, Teva flip flops work great for me in the parks! They are so cushiony and the thong part (of my pairs - they are at least 3 years old) is a soft woven nylon ( i think) and my feet don't even get TIRED!

Mare!!!! I am glad you're back!! I've been wondering what happened!!!

Cute - a red laptop!!! LOVE IT!! My DH wants to get me my own laptop,too....I said NO because I would have my face in it all the time!!! I am bad enough with the desktop!!! OMG>>..if I could go portable I'd be in my own little world all the time. I don't know though.....a red laptop sure sounds adorable!!! Have fun with it!

I have a hot pink nano. I LOVE it. I have a super cute little Vera B case. I had for a short time an 80 Video Ipod but it didn't work right so it got sent back and I was kind of surprised anyway at how huge and heavy that sucker was so I don't miss it. I am super happy with my pink nano.

Oh...those Havaianas are horrid. HORRID. I bought the slims in hot pinky metallic for Jojo and the pearly white for Lucy to wear w/sundresses on our Easter trip. Needless to say, those puppies have been sitting at the bottom of their closets .....the girls had the SAME issues you did. Not good. Havaianas are cute and "supposedly" marshmallowy comfortable....no way. Andrea warned me about them, but DDs wore them around the house a bit and liked them...big difference in Epcot! I stick with my Teva Mush. I live in them all summer. Did you try those out? They really are good but a WDW trip is not the time to experiment.

I see Dawn likes Reef! Mee tooo!!! Those are comfy and cushy too!

DD loves her Reefs. We wear Rainbows a lot down here but DH actually had a hard time breaking his in, but the kids and I never have problems! Once his were broken in though, thats all he wanted to wear. My favorite are Eliza B.s, DD,too! I wear them all the time but they aren't known for their comfort- theres not a lot of cushion to them like Crocs. I guess I'm used to them but I'm probably doing bad things to my feet.

Dawn did I see that you got the Crocs Capri Canvas? I keep pulling them up to look at hem on Shoebuy. They are cute and don't look like Crocs! The only thing that worried me was the white bottom! Mine will turn black fast, I'm hard on shoes!

This Florida girls owns 30 pairs pairs of flip flops We have a store that sells cute boutique sandals for like 10 bucks and i go crazy in there! They are so fun with cute stuff on them or simple metallics that are so great in the summer! I wear them every wear, even church and then put in my heals right before I go on stage!

My fave Disney shoe is my Capri crocs and my Reefs! I am going to my Crocs store to get some of the new canvas capri's! I think I am getting the black on black ones.

FYI: the boutique I get my crocs at tell all there customers to use original Armor All to clean them. It works well I use it all the time! Just keep it off the bed of the shoe or you may get hurt!
