Channing, that is awesome about the ears! Our VIP guide told us it to VERY random and VERY specific the way they do it. They'll just be working and all of a sudden a screen will pop up on their computer that say "go to x bench, directly to the left of x ride and give the second person from the right x prize" or "the third row in the third car of the great movie ride". He said even they don't know when or what kind of prize it will give out!

Good morning ladies! :surfweb:

Chan loved the report!

About the ears...... In March I got the kids all the classic black mickey ears from the main street shop with their names sewn on the back and had them set up in our room on the last morning before chef mickeys. I was disappointed to learn that at the end of that week they were no longer going to be sewing them by hand but using a machine. :sad2: Seriously I have a picture of me on my 10th birthday getting my ears made and a pic with the lady making my ears. I asked the lady how long she had been there and she had been there 20+ years and i swore she was the lady so I snapped pics of her making and holding up all my kids ears. After our trip we compared the pics and it was HER! In my opinion the make a ear is lame.... but I am a Disney purist, LOL!

That is exactly how it works! A good friend is a CM that works in upper management and he told us exactly how it works. He met us when we checked into the GF in March and we were chatting while my Dad checked in, the lady gave him grand gathering buttons and made a big deal about wearing them all the time, she said it would increase our chances of winning a stay in the castle...... wrong, Jim was like whatever don't listen to her! LOL! My mom still insisted we wear them all the time, LOL!

Good Morning Everyone!!

Channing - its so nice to have you chatting away with us, although you did a great job keeping up in WDW.

Thank you so much again for your words of wisdom (again), a few of my ADRs I could not change but I left them for 4. Hoping that when we got to the podium they would accomodate us!!!

The pool area sounds like it changed alot, I am so looking forward to getting there. I am trying not to pack too soon, I am thinking Saturday or Friday night!

Channing- Welcome Back! Thanks for sharing all your details - sounds like a great trip!:)

Lesley- Thanks for the G.S. Pics. It looks incredible!:)

Hope you all have a great day. I'm still not feeling great so I haven't been around much. Went to the Dr. yesterday and got some meds, so hoping those kick in soon!

Good Afternoon everyone!

Chan: We took the Keys to the Kingdom tour back in 2000. It was amazing! Our guide was the manager of all the tour guides and knew everything. It's so true, the guides can really make or break the tour experience. Sorry they got such a dud. DH did the Wilderness Segway tour in June and loved it. He met them at the BBQ Pavillion, not where you said your guys had to go. This is located right off the boat dock. He was only one of two people on tour and had a great personalized tour. I'm going to surprise him with the Epcot Segway tour for Nov. Oh, and we had Amanda for our Cabana gal too! She was lovely!! She could not have been more helpful. She really made the whole experience extra special. She played all day with the boys and made sure we were okay constantly. And yes, those fridges are stocked!! :goodvibes

Annette: Don't stress about the ADRs for one person. They'll work it out for you. It's exciting bringing someone who's never been there before. You are now officially the "cool Aunt" :rotfl:

Okay, so get this!

Friday night we're driving our long drive up to the country house and I told DH his sister is already asking where we're going to spend Thanksgiving. I have issues with Thanksgiving since my mom passed away suddenly last summer. I just can't celebrate it right now. Too difficult for me to prepare her recipes without her. Okay, enough before I start crying. So, I told DH I'd like to be away on Thanksgiving again. How about an all-inclusive island getaway. He says, no the "kids" enjoy WDW, let's go back. OMG!!

Okay panic strikes! I'm in the country with no computer!!! I know nothing!! No EMH, no park hours, nothing!!! Saturday morning while he takes the boys out for breakfast I'm on the phone with (407) W DISNEY getting the info. Next, I call for ADRs. Now, I know nothing about Thanksgiving dining!! I panic and get anything they have. So I got Citricos. Okay, I book about 20 ADRs, I'm proud of myself doing this blind. That afternoon DH asks, where are we staying? I said GF. He said AGAIN?! I say But you said we had the best vacation of all our WDW vacations there. He says It wasn't just the resort, it was all the special things we did. Oh, how nice!! Damn! Monday morning I switch us to Yacht Club (where he wants to stay!) and had to switch a few ADRs for the new area. We're now dining at Yachtsmen's Steakhouse on Thanksgiving.

Oh, the stress!!

I didn't even bother to tell him that I had to pay DOUBLE what we just paid in June for airline tickets!! I've never paid that much for airfare before!

Went to WDW last Thanksgiving and it was our worst vacation ever! To me, it beat being home sad but it was a really awful WDW trip. We left so last minute that we stayed in a Moderate (which we all hated!) We had barely no ADRs and to top it off the boys both got sick. We spent the majority of the trip roaming the boardwalk or DTD. To get cheap air, we left Thursday to Thursday - departing WDW ON Thanksgiving. Which didn't bother me since I was really boycotting Thanksgiving last year. No dinner, no turkey, nothing. Just another day. This year, I'm okay to eat the meal. Sad, but I know I have to go on. But I'm not ready to cook it yet. :sad1:

So this is how I'm going back to WDW in four months during a peak holiday week and I'm still in shock. I truly wanted to go on a beachy vacation. Oh, well. DH said for our anniversary in May. Can't complain. He's understanding to know that it's a difficult time for me.

Oh, I'm splurging on the limo ride this trip. I'm not shipping down my boxes of stuff. I'm going to do the grocery store pit stop. My kids go thru so much milk!! :rotfl:

Off to feed the boys lunch! Then switch around a few more ADRs!

Wait, I forgot, I got info!! Last night I was told Garden Grille is closing as of October and Liberty Tree Tavern is stopping Character dinner as of January! Just when I find a character meal I actually LIKE!

Talk to you all later!

Wow! That really is spontaneous!:)

Mare - congrats on your Thanksgiving trip! Enjoy the planning - it sounds like you've got it all under control! :thumbsup2

I just booked our trip to Atlantis for next June! We are very excited! I noticed you took down your ticker - are you doing the Thabksgiving WDW trip instead?

You will LOVE the Atlantis!! :thumbsup2

Right now we have just the Thanksgiving trip booked. We're still going "somewhere" in May for our tenth anniversary trip. I'm hoping to go to the Atlantis, but we'll see....

After going on our "major" family vacation in June, this Thanksgiving trip was unexpected. I was planning on an inexpensive all inclusive getaway - a fraction of the price of a WDW trip. So I need to see how good of a bonus DH gets come Christmas for the Atlantis trip:rotfl: When we go to the Atlantis I really want to go all out and stay in the Imperial Club :cloud9:

Plus DH freaks out having muliple trips booked at the same time!! :rotfl2:

All these vacations and I'm trying to convince him to sell our small country house and build a brand new "dream" home! He's not going for it yet! :rotfl:

Mare - congrats to the trip!!! Thats a great place for you to be during such a difficult time, and one day when you ready those recipes will be waiting for you and you will find comfort not sorrow in preparing them!!!

In the meantime.....You lucky Dog!!!! I still waiting for my friggin trip and then I'll be waiting 12 months for next!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Although we are doing Vegas without the kids in October!!

BTW - I am the cool Aunt and I have always been the cool Aunt!!! You can even ask my 22 year old nephews!!:scared1: :scared1: 22 that right!!!:rotfl:

Annette - I bet you'll be just fine. We really have switched around the number of peeps A LOT over hte past couple years and they've never batted an eye. Hopefully you get the same magic. Amanda and Chris were our cabana hosts. they wre both terrific but we had Chris several times and Amanda only once. Enjoy!! You are down to a week!!!! Yep..I'd say pack over the weekend...but I am the mega procrastinator...

Mare
that is awesome about your trip!!! I know due to our own extended family issues I like Tgiving away. We have a tradition of always being away somewhere for it. Not sure about this year htough!!! I will be sad to break that tradition but with flight costs etc and other costs I just don't think it will be a go. I am happy you get to be away...and in the Happiest Place on Earth. The weather is lovely during that time. You won't have crowds until Tues or Wed before Thanksgiving. All the beautiful Xmas stuff (well most) will be up and ready and get you into a holiday mood.

Hey!! Where did you hear about LTT dinner?!?!?!?!!? That was a good one for us always!!!! Even Zack didn't mind it...it's laid back and Jojo ate more than just mac and cheese!!!! BUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you SURE?!!!!?!?!??!

Garden Grille...eh. take it or leave it. I have had YUCKY times there and fair. What will they do with it instead????

Wendy! I must have missed something. You are sick?!?! Hope you're on the mend.

PS..>!!!! I thought of something about our trip!! I don't know if I told ya all how LUCKY Jojo is ALWAYS....she always wins stuff. Anyway...whenever we do the pick a pearl she gets the huge 8 mm + size pearl.....they always do the drum thingy for her haha....well this time and in March she got TWIN pearls. Lucy got a pink pearl and also a silver pearl.....both super pretty but we laugh about Jojo and her LUCK!!!!! I have pics of that too! I need to get my house cleaned and get caught up so I can get back to dealing with the pics. I hate doing that though.

Got my hair colored this morning so I have been out....the kitchen still has bfast out!! We are going to see the AMerican Girl movie soon, too!!

Talk to ya later,

Chan

Chan: I remember last Thanksgiving you took flights later in the week, so I learned from you!! I booked us Monday to Monday, it was the least expensive flights I could find at decent hours. I can't travel too late at night with the kids. We depart WDW at 5:45 pm, which is late for us. I usually take the 2:45 pm flight. How are the parks AFTER Thanksgiving Day? I'm hoping everyone will leave Friday or Saturday :rotfl2: I'm planning to avoid a theme park on Thanksgiving Day. If the weather cooperates, we'll make it a pool day. I remember 80 degree afternoons, right? The boys were sick so didn't hit the pool last year, but this time we all can't wait to enjoy SAB!!! Last time we stayed at the Beach Club was January 2006. It was so cold there was no way we could go in the pool. I'm excited to during comfortable weather!!

Oh, I was told about the restaurants from ADR. I actually wanted ressies at both and only got LTT. They're not sure what's going to happen to Garden Grille, no word yet. But they can't book it after Sept 30 (I think that's what she said). LTT is just losing the character dinner, not closing.

I have Epcot Holiday questions! Anyone know what time the Storytelling Santas start? I think I read 11am in Mexico and then it's timed to follow in each country after - right?? I really want to see this!

Also, is it possible to get into the Candlelight Processional without the dinner package??

Will the Japan Candy lady still be there during the Holidays?? Annette, can you find this out when you go?? We missed seeing her in June.

There's no way the boys will last in the evening to do Mickey's Christmas Parade. I would love to see it, but we'll have to wait until they're older. They do love the Osborne Lights at DHS, we saw them several times last year. I love when they dance :cool1:

We are going to schedule a GF Photo shoot. I know we're not staying there, but it's so beautiful during the holidays and I would love to get a great photo for a Christmas card.

I gotta go change these ADRs. What was I thinking getting a ressie for San Angel? My picky eater will not eat there!! :rotfl:

Chan, that movie looks adorable! Enjoy it!

Mare

Absolutely!! We are planned on doing the pick a pearl and seeing the candy lady (never saw her before) so I will ask. We are also having dinner there, so no problem.

I would love to one day see WDW for the holidays and I would prefer Thanksgiving! With school is soooooo hard!!!

Channing & Mare - You guys have convinced me not to worry about ADRs and of course they are for our favorites so I am hoping but not worrying that things work out!!

Channing - Thanks for the Cabana update, I was looking forward to before and even more now!!

BTW I want to take Natalie and her friend to see that movie too!! Looks very cute and like Chris O'Donnell, he's adorable!!

Thanks Annette!! :goodvibes

Your kids are in catholic school, right? So is my DS4. His thanksgiving break runs from Tuesday to Friday. So he'll be missing Monday and the following Monday. Then again, it's only preschool!:rotfl:

Vegas is fun, you'll have a great time - especially if it's childless!!:rotfl:

Are you going to any shows?

Mare

Mare- the Storytellers in Epcot don't start until the Fri or Sat after Tgiving. They should start around 11am (since that is when WS opens). I don't think it is timed that perfectly that you can just walk from one country to the next and see them all in a row though... Just grab a times guide on your way in ans see which country is starting first.

I believe Candlelight Processional starts the day after Thanksgiving. You will need to wait in a long line to get seated for it (especially the last show) but might have better luck if you go to the first one. (You can also hear it just fine from the American Pavillion near the big Christmas tree with the train if you don't get a seat.) Have you tried to book a CP package or all they sold out already?

Re: Garden Grille, I thought only lunch was closing- not dinner :confused3 Interesting

Congrats on the trip!

Thanks Kristin!:goodvibes

I'm debating booking the CP dinner package. I'm not sure how my little :chewy: will do in the theater. He tends to get really tired and cranky at WDW. He's just not like his brother! :sad2:

I wanted to book Garden Grille for dinner, I couldn't. She said the restaurant will be closed. :sad1:

Any tips for decorating a room for the holidays? I saw your posts on another thread. I'm thinking of decorating the room on Thanksgiving. How on earth do people put xmas lights in the window? Isn't that a fire violation?

Mare

Book the CP package and if he gets restless, you or DH can take him out. It isn't a theatre per se, its an ampitheater. Very easy to escape from if he can't take it. But If they enjoy singing, they might like it! And DO NOT miss the tree lighting ceremony at Epcot. It is at 6pm and is so much fun.

When we went in 2006, I bought a predecorated tree with lights from Walmart for $12!! It came in a long narrow box that easily fit in the suitcase. It was a 2 foot tree with ornaments, lights, garland etc. Last year, I bought a fiberoptic Mickey tree from Disney Shopping that we are bringing. The box is slightly bigger, but no decorating required! Plus it will work out for DS's nightlight too! I never hung lights in the window etc but people at POR went CRAZY decorating for Halloween in 2005!!

hey guys check this out.

www.wdwnewstoday.com

The Walt Disney World® Resort will release a new reservation booking system for dining, recreation and tour reservations in late October 2008. The new reservation system will replace our current Dining Reservation System and will allow you to book multiple dining reservations for your Clients in one experience, while associating reservations to your Clients’ Walt Disney World Resort room reservations.

In the future, Travel Agents and Guests will be able to make dining reservations online at disneytravelagents.com and disneyworld.com with this new reservation booking system. The launch date for this enhancement will be announced at a later date.

As a result of the system upgrade, effective July 29 through late October 2008, Guests will be able to book dining reservations up to Jan. 25, 2009 arrivals. In late October, booking processes will return to normal, allowing Guests to book up to 180 days of arrival.

The system upgrade will not impact Victoria and Albert’s Restaurant, Cinderella’s Royal Table, and Chef Mickey’s Restaurant. Those three venues will continue to observe the normal booking processes throughout the system cutover.

I have a ressie for the Garden Grill dinner in December so I hope they are not closing!
