Good Morning everyone!
DH is working from home today, we all know how fun that is. ;)
I got laundry going and DS8 is all ready fro school.
I am gonna be busy this morning, talk to you later.

Chan-OMG- LOL- I started to respond to you and wrote: "I'm sorry your mom is coming." Guess that came out wrong!!!! You know what I mean! I am sorry about your step grandmother, she sounds like a great lady.

Kel- I folded towels and made 2 lunches...it's a start ;)

Dawn- I am sorry about your hubbys knee. when it rains it pours. Never truer words spoken!

Deb- send someone on the Segway tour- or better yet- ditch them all and take yourself on the Segway tour! It was a blast! I want to do it again!!! Hell- I want to own one! That thing was so fun!!!!!!

Morning Gals :)

Just popping in for a minute while DSs are getting ready for school.....2 hour delay today :teacher:. I'm in the kind of mood that I wouldn't even care if they called school altogether .

Chan......I'm sorry about your step dad's mom . On Channel 5 news this morning they said the blizzard warnings/watches were cancelled :confused3. So hopefully that means your parents won't have any trouble coming in . I'm glad they can be here for Jojo's birthday.....I'm sure she'll really enjoy that :goodvibes.

Shel.....Are the Segway tours really that fun???? How long do they last??

Kel.....I'm with you on DHs being home during the day......it throws my entire day off schedule when mine is home :rolleyes1.

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday :flower3:.

Deb :upsidedow

Deb- the segway tour was so fun. Of course I looked like an idiot, you have to wear a helmet, and closed shoes. So I am in capri pants- with socks and tennies..and helmet- NOT ATTRACTIVE!!! LOL (WARNING: unflattering pictures ahead!!!)
First you do an hour of indoor training and learn how to ride the segway:
ry%3D400

Then you get another hour to go around thw world showcase, in and out of coutries, and test out the speed and maneuverability of the segway.:
ry%3D400

and Kel- hubby at home?!?!?! ugh!!!!! (that's all i have to say!!!)

Jojo is now moaning that she wants a $15 yoyo.....rignt now at this minute I am listening to how cool a $15 yoyo is.:rolleyes1

Morning Deb.
...YES the Segway Tours are a lot of fun....so I hear from DH and DS..they've gone several times and really enjoyed it. The Epcot one is the best...they have done the WL one and thought eh...it wasn't all the fun they thought it would be. Not a lot of off roading and excitement they expected.

THANK GOD we didn't get that blizzard!!! They made it seem like it was a DONE DEAL and IMMINENT!! Stupid weather peeps....I am sooo sooo relieved...I cannot even tell you. :goodvibes They had to get here and i heard more snow on Wednesday...now I won't believe anything til I see it....UNLESS they start in on Feb...then I will panic.

Kelly...I hate when DH works at home. It's like having a semi independent kid just taking up space.

PS>..ADORABLE PICS SHEL!!!
Chan

Dawn: Sorry to hear about your DH's knee. I hope everything turns out okay, you need a break!

Deb: The segway tour in EPCOT is super fun. I went with my dad last October and we both had a great time. It was a little pricy but totally worth the money.

Channing: Glad you are feeling better!

Hi to everyone else!

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning!!

No Blizzard! :woohoo: Hopefully they are wrong about tomorrow's too! :wizard:

Amy :bride: - single digits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dawn- that stinks about DH. I hope it doesn't need surgery!!! :wizard:

Chan- are you feeling better?? Get all the sleep you can. When I was sick last week I got maybe 10 hours over 5 nights- it was MISERABLE!!!! My throat still has a scratch but I started taking my claritin again (which I never need in the winter  ) and that seems to be helping. Feel better soon Chan!!

Deb- I did the infamous $60 strawberries at the GF for our 10th anniversary and I still catch crap about the price!!! They were good, but not worth the price. As for the princess and pirate cakes it seems to only be available at character meals. I want to do one for DS's bday trip but I don't think we are eating at any character dinners :confused3 . I did the $12 cake at Garden Grille in 2006 for my bday and it was good. I guess the EPCOT restaurants use a bakery, not the premade Sara Lee's like everywhere else seems to do (according to the cake thread, anyway). Mine wasn't cold, frozen etc. But those can't be personalized. They are white or chocolate with a Happy Birthday or Happy Anniversary Mickey wafer on it. I will see if I have pics uploaded.

Mare- I think the slipper dessert is $12.50 at CRT. I say do it since it is under $15. People on the cake thread rant and rave over how good it is

Speaking of surprises, I am still trying to figure out how to work mine for June. Every trip we have ever taken, Mickey leaves presents in the room. Each night when we return for the night, there is something waiting (PJ Pals, a lollipop, something) DH always takes DS out of the room and I linger for a second and set it out. Well since it is just me and DS this trip, I can't very well send him out of the room to do this. Any ideas????????????

Cute pic Kristin! That's a Disney DEAL!:goodvibes I do have a sore throat!! I feel much better over all though...so it's not strep or anything...probably just hanging wtih too many germy kids.

I am getting my hair colored today! NO MATTER WHAT....even if I had to drive thru a blizzard to get there I was going to get there....I am glad there's no blizzard though. I was supposed to do it right before Xmas but had something else going on and canceled...so i am over due!

OMG...Jojo's REAL bday is Thursday...so she wants to either go to Around the Clock for dinner (OK I like it for bfast only) or Culvers!:scared: :scared: ...kids like the wackiest places. I was telling SHel..and she doesn't have a Culvers so she doesn't understand.:rotfl: That place does nasty stuff to my system so I usually stay far away.

Chan:)

Culvers?!?! Just get ice cream and skip the food! :thumbsup2 I have never been to Around the Clock other than breakfast either. Kids!

CUTE STORY ALERT: I asked DS what he wanted to do for his birthday this year (very innocently, of course :rolleyes1 ) And he said he wants to get Disney Invitation balloons and go to WDW like the commercial!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If only he knew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AW!!! That is soo awesome!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: He's so cute!:goodvibes

My parents just called from Vegas...they had to get a connection there..and wanted to know about our "blizzard".....they are sooo relieved.

I warned my mom about Culvers:rotfl: ...she said it's fine..it's a treat to be here for Jojo's bday. So...whatever the little princess wants.:rotfl: Jojo loves their corn dogs and their cheese curds...omg..such nasty food. :scared: Jo is a corn dog fanatic..i had to wait in line at some corn dog place in DCA for 45 min for one for her.:rotfl2: And I didn't buy anything for myself! What a mom.:rotfl:

TTYL!

HI gang!

I have been bogged down by all around sickness! DD3 has a horrible ear infection and ruptured ear drum, I have a abseced tooth that cant be saved, and DH has had soem medical issues that we are dealing with. It has been a crazy weekend!

Off to catch up!

Kristin..... What about putting it out after he is asleep? He would wake up to the surprise instead of coming "home" to it. Could you do that with out waking him up? That is what we did on our trip..... the kids had these mini back packs and i filled them with treats every night and they got to open them on the monorail/bus every morning on our way to the parks. We told them they were from Mickey. Santa and the Easter Bunny come when you are sleeping why cant Mickey? :confused3

Sorry you aren't feeling well!!!!!!! My tooth hurts in empathy right now!! Are they going to have to pull it?

I was thinking about that (he sleeps like the dead, especially in WDW) but I don't want him to start asking how Mickey got in the room when we are there etc. He will be 6 and I don't want to wreck Santa for him, KWIM?

My other idea was a big gift bag. Last May, Mickey left presents in the original gift bag each day. He usually forgets to even look at it in the AM, since we are rushing to get out. I am thinking that if I put something in it at night while he sleeps and he forgets to look until the following evening....

Has anyone done Star Wars Weekend???

Apparantly we will be ther for the last weekend of it. We would do DHS rides on 1 day and spend one day over there just doing the SWW stuff. Anyone ever gone? Is it worth the crowds??

Hello gals :flower3: I made a huge pot of soup this morning now I have time to veg out on the sofa and chat :goodvibes

Deb: My DH LOVES the Segway tours! He just loves the Segways, he is dying to get one. A guy in the building across the street from us has one. You see him zipping down the block, it's so cool :cool2: He liked the Wilderness one because it wasn't as crowded as the Epcot one. He was one of two in the tour. The Epcot one was actually fun for us because we dropped him off at Guest Services at 8:30 am then waited for rope drop. I had no idea characters came out. It was more of a meet and greet at the rope, no show like MK. Then I RAN with the kids to get Soaring FPs. It was so much fun spending the early morning in Epcot, something we've never done before with the kids. Then at 11am, we met DH at Innovations East or West  where his tour ended. I think the guys would really enjoy it.

Shel: You look cute on a Segway! :cutie:

Kristin: Your cake at GG looked nicer than mine from CP. Mine was chocolate inside and out. Nothing fancy. It just had a Happy Birthday Mickey Disc on top then they wrote "Mommy" under it.

For $12, I'll give the slipper a try. :thumbsup2

We've been there for many Star Wars weekends and I would say avoid it. It's not only crowded but it's more for adults. Think Star Trek convention freaks :scared1: We always head towards the opposite end of the park. When you do go, make sure to look up at the entrance and you'll see stormtroopers. DH is always amazed how they last in those costumes in the June heat!

Last June I made gift bags for the boys and stuffed them with various disney stuff. It took them all week to go thru the bags. Maybe you could do something like that? The one good thing about it, whenever they asked for something DH and I would say "But Mickey left you stuff in your bag". The line actually worked! :rotfl2: I had gotten the Mickey Red re-usable bags from the Disney Store. They're really large. We even used them for Halloween!

That's cute about Disney and his bday. Wait until you tell him!!:goodvibes

Mandy: So sorry to hear everyone is sick  Feel better.

Dawn: Sorry about DH's knee. How is he today?

Chan: I love when kid's pick their own restaurants, it's going to be fun. I hope your family arrives safely.

Amy: It's coming!!! :bride:

Waiting for DS1 to go down for his nap so I can do my Wii Workout!

Mare

I don't think he will care about seeing the SW shows (but I would! lol) He would just want to see the parade and the "characters". Not the actors that you need FP for (he could care less who the actor inside Chewbacca is- Peter Mayhew, for us geeks! ;) ) but the actual costumed characters dressed as Vadar, Storm Tropers, Jedi Mickey etc.

I was thinking we could go at rope drop, see some characters, watch the parade at 11:30, buy some stuff at the special SW store and then head back to the hotel to chill by the pool for a bit.

Kristin: That would work. Last June we had an 8:45 ADR for H&V Bkfst, then saw Little Mermaid then Playhouse Disney then left by 11:30. It was just too crowded and too hot.

The weather plays a huge factor in June. We had really hot days and found the parks just unbareable after 11am.

My kids have NEVER seen the parades. They've seen a little of Spectro here and there, but never the 3pm parade. It's always too hot or too crowded.

I'm hoping this trip to catch the Block Party Bash parade. We'll see....

I think if you gather a lot of info about the SW stuff, you'll be fine. It just seems like a huge crowd near the Star Tours attractions.:rotfl2:

I am worried about June weather (but it can't possibly be worse than August!!!) We try to see the 3pm parade at MK on our arrival day (ditto for going to Toontown to see Mickey) That way we don't waste our MK touring day on that stuff. I like to watch parades, but my family could take it or leave it. We have camped out for Spectro once but now we usually get stuck seeing it in Frontierland near Splash Mountain since we never make it out of that section of the park without getting trapped! :rotfl:

I am thinking that we will go to DHS earlier in the trip on the UG best day for it and do the rides, see the Jedi Training Academy (since it is done year round), ride Star Tours etc. And then just stick to the extra SW stuff for a few hours that day. I just hope we don't have to line up 2 hours early to see the parade :faint:

Kristin: I've never been to WDW in Aug, but every June we've gone it has been almost 100 degress with deathly humidity. We do a lot of the attractions that are in a/c ;) We really just do the parks a few hours a day. More time spent at the resort pool and now this trip we're going to the waterparks. We have no detailed plans for the parks. We just wing it. The only time we plan it out is MK mornings. Once every trip we do MK at rope drop and head to Fantasyland. That's about it.

SW weekends are just crowded. There's a mass of crowds there at park opening. My boys are not fans yet, so I have no idea what goes on or what events take place - we always avoid it completely. We do their favorites then leave. All I'm saying is just have a Plan B that day. It might not be what you're expecting. This is a huge event for adult SW fans.
