channing: your colors sounds really nice. I have only repainted our living room and hall. The whole rest of the house needs it desperatly.

Vanessa: Glad to hear you had a nice trip and are planning another one. I would love to go some time and not do the parks, but I don't think DF would go for that!

Well, I actually cleaned my house yesterday (at least on the surface...)! My BFF was in town from LosAngelas. she had been sick and wasn't going to get to come by, but then called yesterday morning and asked if she could drop by in the afternoon! It was a mad frenzy, but I got it done (DF even helped a bit)! I didn't want her to see how we really live, LOL! I feel so much better having it done though. I also got two assignments done over the weekend (only 9 more to go before I leave...), so I am feeling better. Now I guess I need to actually do some work here at work so they won't see how little I actually do when I am gone for the wedding!

Two weeks from tomorrow we leave! I don't want to wish my life away, but I hope it goes by fast!

Deb- Our boys are so close in age. Oldest turns 16 in August, he's in 10th grade. And the next one just turned 14, he's in 8th like yours. I will also have to in High School next year...mind boggling! I don't feel old, but 2 kids in HS makes me think I must be getting older. UGH! I don't want to be old yet!

OMG Shel.......I can't believe our kids are right there the same age . My oldest would be in 10th grade as well if Indiana didn't have such an early deadline for starting school . I guess they figured too many kids were falling through the cracks and starting school too early and weren't doing good......so instead of a Sept. 1st deadline we had a June 1st deadline (too early if you ask me ). They were in the process of gradually moving it back to Sept but I never heard if they did or not . DS15 didn't start school until he was 6 since his bday is the end of June but DS13 started the year he turned 5 since he's March . So they're 2 years apart in age but only one year apart in school . But I also ran into problems with oldest DS because he was BORED in school and was always getting into trouble for talking and bothering the other kids because his work was done and he had nothing to do . Too bad I'm not going in Feb otherwise I'm sure we'd have LOTS in common to talk about . Speaking of which..........YOU GALS LEAVE ONE MONTH FROM TODAY !!!!!! I bet you're all so psyched!!!!!

Mare......I hope you had a nice weekend at the country house . My SIL does things with Snapfish.....I think she made an album for my MIL last year......it was cute .

I miss Dunkin Donuts! We used to have them in STL when I was in High school, but now they are all gone (not that there would be one near where I live now, out in the middle of nowhere, anyway...). I never got their coffee (not a coffee fan, I do tea or the SF vanilla late from McD's) but those chocolate cake donuts with the glaze were so good, esp. the donut holes.

Every year when we go to the World Championships in Louisville, I have to stop at the gas station outside the gate because they have a DD so I can get my yearly fix!

Okay, now I am hungry again...

Deb: Wow, a June cutoff date is early! It was August 1 in the school district I went to, but my birthday is in mid-late August, and my mom got the school to let me wait a year to start. she is a teacher and thinks that kids who start when they are older have an easier time. I was bored too, though. She also said that it gives kids an extra year to be kids though, which is nice I guess :

I was able to scrape off a tiny hole that I could see through in the ice to get them around the corner to the school!!

OMG! I laughed out loud! That would have been me but my DH was kind enough to scrape my car too before he left! And more on Wednesday!!! I honestly consider moving every winter...then the summer comes and I think, Its not that bad....STUPID ME!

I was think of this time last year when my DH had just left for the Middle East...My how time flies!!!

Is it Feb yet???

HI!! WOW! I am here ALONE!!!!!

Sorry it sounds like you guys had some crazy mornings!!! Lcaemom!! OMG I think you win though!!! I hope the kids were alright....falling, crying, ice and not being able to open the car doors.....bad bad bad way to start......

Lucy got up at 5:30.....Z got up at 6.....(I was up til THREE AM!!! ugh....) but I got Jo up at 7:30 and she just left. It's so quiet here!!!!

My bedroom is trashed...I have to mega clean the bathroom and put everything back in and together. No small task. Jojo gave it the nod of approval....i really like it, too. Now it has made me feel the need to do touch ups all over the house....I was noticing some scuffs and a couple chips at corners....ugh...and that stuff REALLY bugs me but I let it go until today.

You guys and your foo foo coffee.....I can't drink it - I get MEGA heartburn....I can pound the Diet Coke but the only coffee that is really OK with me is cheapy old Folgers Simply Smooth. And it's pretty good IMO but I am not a coffee expert. Just glad there is something I can drink.

Amy - TWO WEEKS! wow....that's gonna fly. How exciting!

Amy.......I agree with your mom's thinking . I think DS would have been ok to start when he turned 5, but I think things are even easier for him now that he had to wait that year . I'm kinda glad now because high school seems really easy for him........it's not a matter of him understanding his work, it's making sure he DOES his work .


Siobhan........I do the same thing every winter.......I tell DH it's time to move south . I hate Chicago winters but things are ok in the spring/summer .

Our cut off is the end of August. Z was my Sept baby and for boys it is sooo much better if they are held back a year. But...it all depends on the kid I guess. Girls are so different...Lucy is a July baby and she is probably one of the youngest in her class...but she is in the accelerated programs. Boys........ And then Jo is right in the middle with he Jan bday.

Wow Siobhan....to me..that time has crawled. I can't believe it was only about a year ago that your DH went. I was kinda blown away that is was ONLY a year.

Ya. Where is Feb? It is 8 degrees here with 0 degree windchill. I keep thinking I am going to be able to go for a walk because the sun is out but it's just too wicked cold. I am so excited to go in Feb and have a fun time with all you crazies.

PS....Dawn....I hope there's more than a TEENSY WEENSY chance you might reconsider!!!

Chan: DS's incident yesterday was scary and I think he did learn from it. We had freezing rain and sleet during the night and everything was covered in ice this morning and he waited about an hour before he left for work. It is warming up and melting. He wouldn't have done that before. I would get the "I'll be fine, it's just a little ice, snow or whatever." You're right, they think nothing can happen to them.

Lcaemom: hope your day gets better and you get your computer working. The ice was terrible here this morning. The schools had a 2 hour delay.

Sorry to all who had trouble getting their kids back to school. This too shall pass. They will grow up, but then you will have a whole new set of problems. A mother's work is never done.

Amy- I am so excited for you!!! 2 weeks until you leave!! WOW it has flown by!!!!! I can't wait to see all the wedding pictures. With M&M, your dad is great to do that! And- LOL- I run around cleaning like that when people call ahead...if they don't call ahead it is NOT GOOD!

Lcae- OMG your morning sounds nuts. Where the kids all ok. I hate falling on the ice. Since you didn't get the auto starter fro x-mas you need to tell DH that January 5th is a new holiday...it is officially "give your wife a gift just because" day. And the gift for that should be something practical. Tell him this year you want a car starter. (I Love my starter! Esp when it is 5 degrees out and the car is warm when I get in. That is the best x-mas gift I ever received.)

I remember when we were building and the day they painted the rooms in our house, my dad stopped by and called me at work to tell me that we had some really bright colors in our house and he wanted to make sure that it was what we had picked out.

I have a Christmas decoration question? Does anyone know if the GF will have their decorations up the week before Thanksgiving? We are tossing around idea of going that week. I read where the MK will because they are having the first MVMCP that week, but I wasn't sure how far along the hotels would be. Thanks - Lisa

Hi, Lisa! Ya..it's incredible how much personality color can really add.

The week before Thanksgiving the Gingerbread house is already up but the tree, wreaths and poinsettias aren't put out until Thanksgiving night (in the middle of the night) or the day after. I remember last year we got back to the GF LATE Thanksgiving night....like 2 am ish..and they were planting poinsettias in the dark! Sometime after that the tree went up!

Shel...LOL...I forgot...I watched the Rock of Love Bus or whatever it is, too. DH GAPED the whole time .....OMG....we could not believe those girls. Each time I watch it I wonder WHERE do they find these peeps? And the scary thing is there seems to be a never ending supply. I know Kristin watches it, too. I wonder what she thought.

Tonight is the new Bachelor...and that other show something about inner beauty. I want to watch both!! I haven't had any prime time TV shows to watch in a LONG TIME. It's time for some ME time.

Chan: Your colors sound beautiful! We're about to start painting our bedroom anyday now. I just have to decide on a paint color Right now we have "RL Peony" I have to find another shade of yellow. I'm not up to changing the bedding yet. Once our new PA house is built, we're going to put our city bedroom set in a guest room and get king beds for both our bedroom here and new master bedroom (which I can't wait to have a spacious bedroom!), so no sense in buying new bedding now.

Deb: Our school's cutoff is Dec 31st. DS4 started school at 3 since his bday is in Feb, his best friend was 2.5 years old. His mom wants to keep him back. She doesn't want him entering K at 4, I agree that's too young. DS4 is one of the oldest in his class and I think it's good for him.

At the last minute, we decided to stay home this weekend. There was a lot of snow in PA and DH didn't want to have to worry about getting into the drive way. Next year, we'll have a snow removal service for the new house. We don't go up to this home often enough to really need it.

Lcaemom: I really wanted a Wii fit for xmas but santa didn't know until it was too late and couldn't find any Maybe V-Day I'll get one. Sounds fun! Hey, where in Adventureland did you find corn dogs? I've never had one and the ones on the boardwalk I've heard are gross. I know, a lot of snacks are not on the DDP, we used our Disney Rewards card for those items. DH is a huge turkey leg fan. I also found a thread that shows all the pics of snack items people have been getting. It gave me great ideas. I never knew fried rice was a snack item, perfect lunch for DS1 who wasn't on the DDP. I can't find that thread, when I do I'll give you the link.

Amy: How fun to have M&M at your wedding!! That is special. Two weeks is going to fly buy. Make sure you have a reminder list. On the night before our wedding, DH forgot his sneakers at our new apt (we were both living at home still) I had to run to the apt and grab his sneakers to throw them in the suitcase! Oh, and he always forget sunglasses! He doesn't wear them often but always in FL. I always have to remember to grab his out of the car. Stupid necessities men always forget.

I think the GF Gals are leaving on my DS4's bday. Feb 5th?? How exciting! one month away!!! I still haven't decided what we're going to do for his bday party. He wants to see Mary Poppins on broadway. Might do that. Or I was thinking of going to Great Wolf Lodge for the weekend with my SIL and Niece. He's dying to go to a water park and they just opened one in the Poconos recently. I'm so undecided!

DS1 finally woke up and is laying on the sofa. Need to get him some bfast.

I am watching Oprah now...she is busting her butt working out. I would rather walk....so I will wait til I can. I have a nice treadmill but I hate it. She's talking about her issues......bleah blah bleah..... she drives me crazy but that's all that's on. Maybe it's time to go clean my bathroom.

Mare....yep one month from today. Aw! on your little guy's bday...it's actually my step dad AND step mom's bday. How about that weirdness? I didn't want to see Wicked,,, but Mary Poppins looks sooooo cute. That's neat that your little guy wants to see that for his bday.

Morning Ladies (and Marvel if you are back)

BACK TO SCHOOL WEEK!

DD went back today and DS goes back tomorrow........ I am not looking forward to summer I love him, but DS has about drove me crazy!

Anyways..... Yesterday was the 7 year anniversary of my Grandfathers death and we had a nice lunch after church of all his favorites! We told funny story's and everyone laughed (and shed a few tears) and enjoyed the memories! My Grandmother handled the day much better than in years past and really enjoyed showing my kids pictures and telling them about him.

Channing~ Sound like fun painting!!!! I like to paint (well changing the colors, DH does the painting and i do the trim and mostly supervise ) we have painted our kitchen twice in the past 3 years, our dining room 3 times in 3 years, and painted my kitchen cabinets several times. Having a small house has it perks since buying paint is cheap since you only need a few gallons! I am ready to change it all again and DH has made me paint samples spots to settle on the colors and I have promise to not change them for at least 3 years. I have picked the the living room/dining room colors but i am so stuck on the kitchen I also want to repaint the cabinets and do a crackle glaze finish on them but DH is not sold. I told him that is the fun of having a old house with old wood cabinets, you can play with em!

Oh, and I have used Martha Stewart, RL, Laura Ashley, And Eddie Bauer colors but ALWAYS use Valspar paint at Lowes. And the paint guy at our Lowe's knows me and the paint want, all he ask's me is how much and what finish One time I picked the wrong color green and went back and he re-tinted it for me for free!

OK I am off, I have got lots of cleaning to do and I have to take DD to the doctors for a well child visit.... 2 months late but I wanted to wait till 09' since we now have a health savings plan card and it cost nothing!!! I LOVE DH's INSURANCE!

mare I am definitely going to have to write out a list! I have a feeling I am going to forget everything! Luckily, my parents are coming the day after us so they can bring what I leave behind if they have to, LOL! Df is a last second paker. I like to do it a little ahead of time. I do his too, but then he has to 'Inspect" : I try to keep out all of the clothes he wears that I don't like, but he always throws them in just to irritate me, LOL!
