WHew! I bought my flight...and caught up on this thread.

OK....wow...Siobhan!!! HAve a FABULOUS TIME!!! Mandy called me this morning to get your cell number! Mandy was in Toontown and I could hear the train whistle!!! I LOVED THAT!!! My little brush with WDW for the day. I hope you guys check in - or Mandy posts when she gets home. HAVE FUN!!!

Marvel...OMG...you kill me. I was just watching some old Love Boat DVDs and Michelle Lee is in a LOT of episodes!! You might want to check them out.

DEb...ya...I will just see how it all plays out. We have gone in July and AUgust but never June...and the kids get out mid June so it will be weird just going right away...the rest of the summer will be a downer. I always like going over July 4th too....and that is our bday week....we can "Celebrate"

Chan.....WTG on the SWA fare . I hope Dawn's able to catch it in time . I wish the fares would come down for June........they're at $159+ each way right now . I know they just came out earlier this week, but I'm anxious to book.....it will make our trip seem a little closer . I didn't realize your kids got out mid-June . It's the very end of May/first few days of June here.....so it makes it a little easier for me to leave the latter part of June .


Marvel.....Have a good time with your son's party tonight . Only one week left for you......you'll be on your way in no time .


Amy.....WTG on the credit . I'm sure you already know how that $70 credit is going to get used .

Deb I'm sure that the fares will get better...its just the darn checking game..the one day I dont check is usually when they go down June is a month we havent gone in in a long time...DH did not like August...lots of rain (not to mention hurricane season!!) and complaining kids...

Channing The solution to booking early in the summer season is to book a fall trip too so there is something to look foward too...but for your family with the July birthdays you could really enjoy the new birthday promotion... Hard to choose...it would be nice if all of our trips overlapped though

Amy Your wedding is almost here!!! I cant wait to hear all about it..I would love to have been a Disney bride...Not available in those days but there is hope with DD... I could be a Disney mother of the bride...BTW it is always so nice to get those Disney docs in the mail...it means the trip is right around the bend..

Hi all! I am here!!!! We are in 6223, marina side....Nice room but the view is just okay....I guess I will find out tonight if I can see Wishes from the patio! I havent seen Mandy yet but we plan to meet up tonight! Quickly...ME.....first and last time...2.5 hours from landing to GF...I landed before 11 and I still dont have my luggage! Oie! Room wasnt ready so we headed to MK...Guess what...No tickets on my KTTWC!!! Mare I thought of you right away!!! Tell ya more about that later! Where is my luggage...Ta ta

Tete I am with you on the ME At least to the resort...took it back to airport last trip and it worked out just fine...its nice to check everything in at the resort check in desk get the boarding passes and not have to worry about anything except catching the bus on time...

Hope that you get your luggage soon...and that you get to see Wishes from your balcony.
I love SL but prefer the view of the pool area JMO...

Sorry that you had a bumpy start Im sure the rest of the trip will be great!!! Keep us posted

Siobhan......Glad you made ......but sorry about ME . We have never used ME and I can't say that we ever will . It's too easy to get a rental car or use a car service.......MUCH quicker . Have a great time and thanks for checking in with us poor gals here at home .

Not to hijack you here Chan but I saw this too about the CR and someone else posted that they saw these sales all over property . Plus they said other things (other than holiday items) we 40% off (if I remember correctly ). So go check it out Siobhan and have a fun time shopping . Also....hope you get your luggage soon .

Hi, Deb!! wow..isn't that crazy about the sales? I haven't really EVER seen stuff on sale at WDW! That is pretty telling about the economy.

I wanted to post I just heard from Kelly.....she is still in Malden at her dad's house. They STILL have no power. She is probably going to stay til tomorrow...fingers crossed that the power gets repaired tomorrow. She said she would try and check in tonight.

The girls are busy making ornaments & Christmas music is playing....I made more gingerbread dough, made my peppermint ball cookies....made more fudge with carmel, and then another batch of special k cookies....I keep cooking the sugar too long and it turns too hard. (cannot find my candy thermometer ) I BROKE a Chicago Cutlery knife trying to slice them!!!! Can you believe it??!??!! I broke the tip right off!!! I WAS SO MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway.....that's me and my adventures in the kitchen. Pathetic.

Hey Chan.......Ya that is crazy about those sales . I go in ALL the stores a gazillion times while I'm there........so if there were sales I know I'd see them . I never even thought of such sales going on because like you said it just NEVER happens . But once I read about them it does make sense with the economy the way it is...VERY CRAZY . I bet Siobhan is loving it .

You are just quite the baker lately, huh??? I haven't started my baking yet.....I'll be doing that at the end of this week for when we go to DH's parents next Sunday and then I'll do some more baking the following week for when we go to my mom's Christmas Day . I always bake WAY TOO much.....but that's what the holidays are for, right . BTW.....peppermint ball cookies sound good.......do you have a recipe you could share ?

Deb & anybody....the peppermint balls are FABULOUS....but they take tons of time.. They are from the Frugal Gourmet's Christmas book...(anybody remenber him? I used to LOVE watching that guy cook. His book is beautiful. He was a minister and there are so many lovely Christmas thoughts and informative chapters. It's very sweet....

The cookies.....

Makes 3 dozen....

The dough..

1 C butter - DO NOT SUBSTITUTE...Must be the real thing!

1/2 C confectioners sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 c flour
1/2 c walnuts - chopped

Cream the butter, sugar and vanilla together until fluffy. Add the flour and walnuts and blend to form a dough. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour. I usually chill it longer.

Candy mixture.....

1/4 lb peppermint candy crushed fine....we do ours in the coffee bean grinder.
1/2 C confectioners sugar
(we always make tons of this stuff...as the days go by we keep coating the cookies in it)

In a small bowl combine both ingredients...set aside. Three tablespoons of this mixture is used in the filling below and the remainder is used to garnish the cookies.....

The Filling.....

2 TBS cream cheese softened - I always just guestimate this whole filling recipe.....probably use more than needed....

1 tsp milk
1 drop red food coloring
1/2 C confectioners sugar
3 TBS candy mixture

In a small bowl blend together the cream cheese, milk, food coloring, and the confectioners sugar until smooth. Blend in the 3 TBS candy mixture.

Remove dough from fridge..and for each cookie pinch off a rounded teaspoon of the dough. Form into a ball and shape the dough around your thumb to make a little compartment in the middle. Place about 1/4 tsp of the cream cheese filling in the depression. Pinch the dough back together and roll it back into a nice ball shape.

Place the balls on a nonstick cookie sheet. Bake in preheated 350 oven for 10 to 12 minutes. DO NOT BROWN. They will still be light and fairly smooshy....leave them on the sheets for a few minutes...remove to cool. To garnish, roll the cooled cookies in the remaining candy mixture.

I store them in candy mixture and keep rolling them here and there.....

The filling part into the cookie gets tough. We used a ziploc rotfl: Hi, Mare)
and cut the corner off....used a cake decorating tip...and used a cocktail stir stick (it has the little glass ball on the end) to punch the hole. We have techniques...these are our little million dollar secrets.

So I am not so pathetic in the kitchen....just not having luck with my FABULOUS special K cookies.... And that recipe was lost for like 15 yrs...found and now lost again!!!!

Channing Thanks for sharing your delicious sounding cookie recipe...so many good recipes on here ....we are going to have to rename the thread the GF Chat and Recipe thread....

I love trying new recipes especially ones that I get from someone else...then you know they are tried and true...some times I'll choose something from a cook book that sounds good and its not!!!

I remember the frugal gormet too...sounds like a nice cook book..

Anyone ever try anything from the bisquick cook book...my family loves some of these...

I'm making myself hungry but its too late to eat...

Good Morning everyone.

We are packing up to move to the Gaylord Palms. Then off to Epcot.
It is crazy about the sales. They are all over property. 50% on Christmas things and 40% on t shirts and baseball hats, and a few other things that I can't remember. I have never seen new merchandise marked down and never seen anything marked down that far. I did notice that in general though prices have increased quite a bit since April. The sales are working, the kids stood in line 25 minutes in Mouse Gears yesterday.

We had a great meal at Artist Point last night. The food was excellent as always, but the menu is smaller and no buffalo steak. DH was very disappointed not to be able to get buffalo steak.

It is supposed to be warmer today. I hope so, my tan in a bottle is fading and I need some sun.

I wonder when all of those sales started at WDW I didnt see any... all the Christmas stuff ornaments etc were full price...

Glad to hear you enjoyed Artists Point (well except for the buffalo steak..) I havent eaten there in ages...maybe I should add that to the list for next trip..I already added Citricos...

Have a great day in EPCOT...where are you going to eat?...(its all about the food ) We ate at Le Cellier last trip and loved it!! So many nice places to eat there though...its hard to choose..well where ever enjoy!

MORNING!! PARTY IS OVER...IT IS TIME TO GO TO WDW!!

Siobhan- I have a great time. Thanks for the heads up on ME. I just emailed SE to see if he could still pick us up at the airport. I have him booked for our return trip to the airport.

Party was very nice. We had a couple spend the night since they have a 2 hour drive and I just served breakfast and everyone is out the door. It was a very good time but I am sooo glad it is over!!

Well I am going to start packing.

Kelly~ Hope you are headed back home soon to a warm home. That really stinks!

Kristin- Are you home?? Did you have a good time.
