Welcome home mariamouse - Glad you had a good time. I miss the GF from the second the DME express pulls out of the GF.

MommyGina,

I have a vision of parking my car and walking under the monorail to the VGF. I keep picturing the row of palm trees I pass as I walk to the front door.

Than I enter the foyer and the first thing I see is the beautiful pastel flowers on the table.

Next, I listen to the sound of the water fountain and look at the whimsical penguins.

I can picture each piece of furniture and the stunning iron dividers that separate the foyer from the elevators.

It's nice to have such beautiful memories.

It's refreshing to see that everyone goes through withdrawal -- I thought I was the only one who hummed "Remember the Magic," and expected to hop on the monorail and zip off to work.

I must confess, I've never posted pix on here, so I might need some help/coaching when I get back -- but I will take as many stealthy spy pix of the rennovation, as well as the normal beautiful grounds of the GF. And, as my ticker notes, and Jean Val Jean sings in Les Miserables....ONE DAY MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the pictures, mariamouse. I love the early mornings and early evenings at the Grand - the light is fantastic. I agree that the furniture really has been thoroughly abused. It will be nice when everything is fresh and new. I loved being at the Grand, and especially with my situation with my mom and my flu, and then the death of my uncle at the end of my trip, I ended up spending a lot of time at the resort. This was the best time ever to be club level, and I felt very well taken care of by the great cast members. I want a do over, however, as real life didn't really give me a break this time. I booked a bounceback for September. I'm not sure when I will actually travel yet, but have 11 nights set aside in case I can make another trip.

Such a tease since I am at school right now and once again, cannot see the pics! :-/

Seeing as how I tend to not eat "clean" on vacation -- I know I need to be religious with the workouts. The last time I was at the GF, the workout facilities were in a giant tent between the conference center and the parking lots. Anyone know where it is now, and how well equiped?

The tent was provided during the interim when the spa was being renovated last year. The health club is back at the spa now that the refurb is complete. Here is what I have posted on the first page:

The Health Club is a full service gym available at no extra charge to guests of the GF & Polynesian Resort. A wide range of equipment is available, including treadmills, stair steppers, upright and recumbent cycles, elliptical cross trainers, Smith machine, cable crossover and free weights. The Health Club also features a full circuit of Life Fitness and Precor strength equipment.

Guests must be 14 years of age to use the gym, guests 14-17 must be accompanied by an adult.

If you would like to use the Health Club during non-attended hours, you must use your room key.

Personal training available by appt.
