I hope all my lovely Gfers are staying safe and warm. I believe hugging can be nice anti-freeze. :grouphug:

If that fails think warm thoughts: balmy evenings watching the fireworks from the GF boat dock, a cabana day at the Beach Pool, or enjoying the band in a warm and pleasant GF lobby.

If that dosen't work, just visit me down here. We are expecting low-90s today.

Our low tonight in Connecticut is expect to be -4 and with wind chill it will be -20. Brrr.

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this board today. I am sitting in MA looking at a foot of snow and decided I needed to start looking at the GF boards for our trip in August of this year to warm me up. Funny, that I am dreading the temperatures in FL in August while freezing up here right now.

I read back a few pages and wondered/worried when I saw the potential refurb info. We have booked our RPC trip on a bouceback while at YC CL last year. We will be going at the end of August. Do you think the RPC refurb will be done by then? I would be really, really sad to have our dream RPC trip in the midst of refurbs.

Looking forward to reading everyone's trip info! I just love the GF! We have stayed there twice before at SL.

How rude of me...I'll grab the crudité platter :grouphug:

Hey pas and Beth :wave2:

Tom I see I am late to the party and pas is already dancing along!!! LOL... :dance3: :drinking: How about some cheese and crackers to go along with the wine...

Save some for my party...single digits for me tomorrow. :yay:

Thanks for the hug, yes hugging is a great antifreeze, especially a group hug...I am always cold, I can use all the heat I can get. Since I was home today because of the snow I spent most of it thinking about the Grand...and reading some of those FP+ threads. :crazy2:

Same here. Brrrrr. I am a little late to your party, but mine starts tomorrow, all are invited. Please bring the wine. :)

Circusgirl, Hope you are feeling better and your mother is recovering.

mariamouse What a great place to be stuck an extra day or two. :goodvibes

Sooo... I still have 319 days until my first stay at GF. But I'm still excited!!! Y'all have been so awesome answering my questions and with all the tips that have been posted!

So I was wondering...where are y'all's fav places around the resort? I plan on wandering and taking photos so is there anything y'all suggest I look out for? :-)

Thank you all very much for your good wishes and thoughts. I am happy to report that my mom and I are both much better today. I didn't even really realize how sick I have been until I got a little glimmer of my normal energy this afternoon. My mom improved significantly today, and although she'll be in the hospital for a few more days and in rehab until I get home next week, now it is just a matter of her regaining her strength. I think we rose up on a tide of DIS energy! :grouphug:

I too have gotten snowed in at WDW... luckily I made my plans to stay a day ahead because they were getting in a big convention and room were taken. I would rather have gotten stuck at the Poly than on a bench at MCO... :thumbsup2

Glad that you and your mom are feeling better. DS was sick last July when were at the GF. By the time I got back to the hotel, there was a stretcher outside our room for him. Yikes! Hotel manager and security were in our room. Poor kid got Influenza A. DS did not go to ER, but a walk in. GF provided transportation to us since we did not have a car. Only issue was he couldn't get Mickey Waffles when he got back from the Walk In. Took him a few days to recover.

Circusgirl: Glad to hear you & your mom are feeling better!

So happy for all those those there now and for those in the single digit countdowns :)!

Stay warm everyone!!!

Is it bad that I would be happy with a temperature reading of 35 degrees? Like, that would be warm....

Even worse than ours, ugh! I got up to 7 degrees and -6 wind chill, not sure what the low was. Luckily, we warm up the rest of the week, into the 40s and 50s.:cool1:

My favorite places are the lobby - any time, but especially during the late afternoon/evening when the music is playing. Strolling the grounds; lounging at the pool with a drink; sitting at the marina, watching the fireworks; sitting on the boat dock; having afternoon tea in the Garden View Tea Room; walking the path to the Poly.:flower3:

Not bad at all....I, myself, would be thrilled to be in 35 degree weather right now and by the time our temps do rise to that, I may just bring out the flip flops :rotfl:
