I brought a clear plastic backpack to the parks this trip and have received nothing but compliments on it from the security guards at bag check. One fellow told me he wished everyone carried a see through bag. I don't have to open it, just hand it to security and they
just glance at it. Makes bag check so much easier!

Just thought I'd share my success with this for people who are going soon. :goodvibes

Sounds like a good idea (unless you have something embarrassingly personal in your backpack!:lmao:).

I've been using a clear backpack for about 10 years. I had to buy a new one this past year. I've had people stop and ask me where I got it.

Security always loves me when I come through. It also makes it easier to find things in a hurry (sunscreen, snacks, etc.)

I bought ds9 his own smaller clear backpack now that he's getting old enough to carry his own through the park.

Sounds good going through security, but I can not see myself ever using one. I do not like the idea that everything I carry is visiable to the rest of the population!

I also have been using a clear bookbag for several years. There's nothing in it that I care if other people see.

I would hate a clear backpack ... I don't want people to see all my things. I would much rather open my bag for the security people and have only one person look.

Have to agree. Our bag has a hidden place where we can keep money/cc etc. and don't want everyone see that. Also, when it's 100 degrees and 90% humidity...doesn't the plastic stick to you?

I can not imagine using a plastic backpack in the heat of Disney.

I use a mesh backpack that the security folks seem to like too.

The bag check is so benign that the only thing I find to be difficult about it is the extra steps you have to walk to get from either the buses or the monorail in order to funnel through the security checkpoint to enter the MK. "Making life easier for the security guys" is not really on my list of things to do at WDW.

Glad it worked for you but honestly it never takes more than like 15 seconds for them to quickly look in my bag.

Have to agree with all the above posters that said they would never carry one.
I just returned yesterday (Easter week) and did not experience more than a 2 minute wait at security at any time. A clear backpack would only save you about 30 seconds - no value to me.

1. Clear plastic in the hot sun on my back sound miserable.
2. I agree I keep my camera, tickets, and money in my bag - no one needs to see what I am carrying.
3. Why spend $ on something you will one use a few times. I carry a bag I use all the time at home.

Hey, how does the security work for checking backpacks and getting into the park?

My understanding is everyone has to line-up at the park's turnstiles and wait for the CMs to let people through, just before RD. Correct?

So when do you go through a security check? Is it before you line up for the turnstiles? Or after you go through the turnstiles?

You do security before the turnstiles about probably 20-30 feet before at MK I would say.

It is never a big deal for us either. Though I am glad to not need to bring a bag. I would rather be empty handed all day!

I live in a town with three prisions. If people see a clear back pack here they assume that the person carrying it is a family member of an inmate, because clear back packs are all that is allowed at prison visiting time. I shouldn't feel this way - but I could never carry one because of the stigma they have here. Is it right? No - but it is reality

I love my clear backpack! For me, the best thing is not having to stop after going through security to close five different compartments so that nothing falls out. We throw it on the back of the stroller, so no worries about the plastic and the heat. When we no longer need the stroller, the backpack won't be necessary either.

Just found a new one at Big Lots for $4!!!

I found a cheap clear backpack for Disney, but didn't use it because it was so stiff. Instead I found a mesh one and you know what security still had me unzip it so that they could look through it. So it defeated the whole purpose of the mesh. Maybe they could see enough of the stuff in the bag, since I had change of clothes for DS and diapers and wipes. But I still found it odd.
