Having a bad mommy week...

Here's my terrible Mom moment from a few months back:
So my picky 8 year old was moaning and complaining about the homemade meatballs I made, apparently not liking the onion in them.
DS: (in a whiny, nails on a blackboard voice) I don't like onion. I don't like these meatballs.
Me: Well, the meatballs don't like you!

Yes - not my proudest moment as a parent, but one we can laugh about now.
Hang in there OP - we've all been there.

karenos;)

I shouldn't laugh, but that was pretty funny!!
It's funny what you say in the heat of the moment huh?
It's great being a parent! :)

Yes, Chris, I often do. Won't share the details but yes, I've been thinking lately that on some level I've somehow failed and wondering if I've truly done a good enough job parenting this precious human being.

And if you think you're having issues now with a toddler? I hate to say it but hold on when the teenage years arrive. If you have a girl and she gets on the outside of the group/s, and is a member of what "The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth" author calls 'the cafeteria fringe', there's a peculiar pleasure many teenage girls take in excluding, or actively ignoring (or just plain forgetting about), those who aren't visible on their radar as a friend.

agnes!

LOL That is hilarious. Honestly, I'd put that one in the scrapbook -- it's funny! 8-year old will totally get it when 8-year old becomes a parent.

HUGS to OP. We've all been there and if you haven't, you must have done something really spectacular in your previous life to deserve that kind of karma. :)

Something I've done when I'm having a really, really bad day with DD. When I feel like I'm going to pop and just yell, I get right down by DD and say, "Guess what? I'm going to tell you 5 things that I reeeeealllly love about you," and I tell her five things about her that I think are great. She'll either smile or respond by telling me something she likes about me or whatever. It kind of breaks that whiny, negative cycle in the little ones and gets things off on a better track.
