because I am in the hospital, yet again. I've been here since Monday night. I started feeling dehydrated from the chemo again, my levels are going down, and my electrolytes were pretty darn low too. So we headed to another hospital about an hour from home because our main hospital is too far and the local one doesn't like to listen to my doctors. We got here and met another kid who also has osteosarcoma. So we got into the ER, got checked out by the doc, who talked to my oncologist, and admitted me.
So since monday I've been hooked up on IV fluids, gotten transfusions and more electrolytes, and then developed an infection and cold. The last time I was in the hospital, the nurse didn't flush my IV line correctly, which caused the to clot in it and infections to form. It was staph! Fortunately, they started me on anti-biotics and it was within 24 hours.
I've also been running a fever and have developed a very irritated hind quarters so they're also treating me for that. Unfortunately,we will be in the hospital for Christmas.
So I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas now,as I may not be on much. Our laptop died, and the one here works on Dial-Up connection, and is pretty dang slow. I also thought I would update you guys, just in case you were wondering. Hope to talk to you all soon!
Sonya.
PS- Anyone else find it weird there are 4 kids, within 2 neighboring states, withing 1 year have all developed the same kind of rare cancer? Rare as in only 400 cases a year in the US.
