If you just want to catch fish and don't care about type or size, use the smallest hook you can find and almost anything for bait. My DD loves to fish at FW (or anywhere for that matter). I got her an 8' telescoping cane pole that we leave in the camper all the time. I put the smallest gold hook on it I could find and she always catches something. Most of the time we just use bread for bait. The end piece with the crust stays on best. We will throw some small pinches of bread in the water and wait for the fish to start eating them. If you never see fish eating what you throw in try a different spot. But the real trick is a small hook and small piece of bait so the small fish can get it in their mouths. Another good hint is to flatten the barb on the hook to make releasing the fish easier. There are some nice fish in the lake and she has had a lot of fun in the canal that runs behind the 1500 - 1900 loops
