Have you/Would you use your points for DCL?

How do you use points for some in a room, and then pay cash for others?

Do you do that through DVC??
Yes, you book through DVC/MS if you want to pay part points and part cash for the same cabin.

At least one person per cabin has to pay points. You can't pay part points and part cash for the same person. The cash price is the one DVC/MS negotiated with DCL. It may be more or less than the cash price currently available from DCL direct or through a TA.

Not that I am an expert but when we canceled a trip and decided to use our points for the cruise I did ask member services regarding points/cash... They told me that if you were using both points and cash that one of the people in the cabin would have to be on points.

If anyone knows otherwise, let me know.
One Adult amount has to be on points. After that you can do any combo you want for each additional person as long as you pay each person ONE way or the other for the entire amount. You can't do part points and part cash for one person. DVC has a negotiated price with DCL. It's usually less than rack rates but much higher than discounted rates. For a single room you're stuck with their rates and must pay the entire amount up front when you make the reservation. Thus paying one for points and 3 for cash usually means you're pretty close to the amount you'd pay for all 4 cash directly through DCL or a TA. But each case is different so you should look at the overall situation and run the numbers as they apply to you then decide. There are many factors like how many points you have, when will they expire, are they already in reservation status and the like.
