Have you used traveler's checks at WDW recently?

What was your experience with them? Were they cheerfully accepted? Did all CM's seem to know how to use them? Thanks!

They were great! CM's didn't have any problems using them at all. We get the Visa checks from AAA because they're free for members. If you have a AAA card, they're really worth it. The only place we had a problem using it was at the airport in Atlanta - the cashier didn't have a clue. :confused3 Other than that, it was great!

We used them in August with no problems. In fact, they didn't ask for ID, which made me mad, because they are supposed to ID you. We had ones of the $100 variety and used them to buy $35 and $40 lunches with no problems. We also use AAA because they are free!!!

Went in Oct, had traveler's checks and there was no problem anywhere. I used them in restaurants in the parks, House of Blues at Downtown Disney and at Universal.

When I pulled them out, the only response I got was automatic handing of a pen to sign it. No surprise, no reaction at all. I made sure I had my ID which they didn't really pay attention to (but you need to have it handy).

We also had a credit card and used the room card as one and had no problems with any of it. WDW will take any kind of money you want to hand them! :rotfl:

Traveler's checks -no prob at all, it's personal checks a CM may look at you funny. As far as IDing for them goes -CMs aren't told to ID for them. The ID is the matching signature itself. That's why the person who signed them in the first place needs you use them. Same goes for credit cards, if there signed on the back technically they aren't even suposed to ask as far as visa and mastercards go -it's in the contract terms however for the most part they'll be accepted regardless. Make sure to carry an ID if you're going to use anything like the last two, and a major credit card as well for a PC that is one place where the CM can't bend

Travellers checks were as easy to use as cash when we were there in October. I wouldn't hesitate to bring them again. We used American Express as they were free through our bank.
