Have You Taken Pets to a Vacation Home?

Just wondering what anyone's experience was with this; I posted it on another thread, but since I am an official thread killer, it hasn't been replied to.....and probably never will be :lmao: .

Anyhow, I noticed when looking through vrbo for the first time that some of the homes are listed as "pet friendly." Has anyone brought pets? Usually our dog (we have a lab) is the reason we take shorter vacations; we don't want to board him for too long.

Our next trip will be my family, my sis/dbf, and my parents. Between the 3 families, we have 4 dogs- a lab, a mini-dachshund, a Jack Russell, and a St. Bernard. Is that pushing it for "pet friendly?" I have never rented a vacation home before, and wasn't sure what to expect.

Any experiences are helpful- thanks!

I suppose the only way to know for sure is to inquire. Some places are pet friendly for small pets only, but not all of them. Good luck.

I love animals but I think 4 dogs maybe pushing it. Maybe you could rent 2 small villas and try for 2 dogs per villa.

Hi there:goodvibes

I have to recommend you check out

www.sunnfunusa.com

No matter how many pets(big or small) they have a house for you. I had previously inquired about their homes(we have small dogs we won't leave home without!) but we had already pretty much set things in stone with someone else before finding this company. I have to say next time we travel with pets this will be who I go through. They do charge a pet fee of $30 per pet per week but honestly I think thats VERY reasonable. I usually get hit with a $250 deposit. He told me most have fenced in yards, homes with tile floors, etc. So maybe you should check them out. I am in no way affiliated with them-I was just very impressed with how they do business and the 'pet friendly' options I was given. Hope this helps!

here the sticky from the top.

on the homes she list - be sure to check with the owners - sometimes a new owner has different rules.

We have stayed in vaction homes that were pet frendly on at least 4 different occasions. We have 2 border collies and stayed at least 10 days each trip....never had a problem. You just need to do some detective work on the internet and make some calls. Most will list pet requirements and restrictions up front. Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for the replies! I will definitely have to do some more research in this area. I think this just may the way to go for us on our next trip- question for those that bring dogs and go to the parks; do you leave the dogs at the house, or do you take them to the Disney kennels for the day?

Thanks again everyone!

well use to take Spicey to the kennel during my park time.

but noticed that other people who had pets just left them in the room.

spicey was happier in the room than the kennel. (and he at one time loved the WDW kennels). so after that I didn't.

guess it depends upon your pet.

if they bark or would upset others then take them to the WDW kennels.

if they sleep (spicey did) - then why bother.
