Have you read "Beneath a Scarlet Sky"? please explain the confusing ending to me!

I just finished this book in 2.5 days, couldn't put it down, really liked it alot. But! The ending threw me for a complete loop and I just didn't get it, AT ALL. So Pino drives around a Nazi commander for all this time, and arrests him in the end. But then, he suddenly is asked to escort a mysterious person, that the Americans are supporting, to the border of Austria and its HIM? They literally take their life in their hands driving there, almost dying how many times! and he's in the back seat!! I don't understand, please explain, its driving me nuts.

Haven’t read the book, but it sure sounds intriguing!

I read a book that totally intrigued me, and the ending related to selling stock short, and no matter how many times I tried to understand that…it just didn’t make sense, in the context of the book.
