I can't believe how expensive it is! The 'bargain' airfares are only valid through the end of October right now, so I'm hoping some sale fares for December will be made available soon. I pd $175 and $220 in the past, and now I'm looking at $350! And now we have one more child to pay for, so airfare has become a big chunk of our budget!

I caught an airfare sale on Delta in April and got RT for $135 apiece Thanksgiving weekend, been watching it for months and lowest other than that I had seen is $254 for same round trip ticket..good luck finding a deal

I saw airfares for about $175 out of Chicago, but my husband didn't want to drive 3 hours to the airport when we live 10 minutes away from our local airport. *sigh* The cheapest right now (coming back on the Monday after NYE) is $269! Yikes!

Nothing less than 360 here- and that is with a stop. We usually pay no more than 190 nonstop. We might cancel the holiday trip if this doesnt change.

I jumped on JetBlue fares when I saw I could get r/t for $175pp. That is about what I paid for December back in 2001; and it is cheaper than what I was able to get in 2003.

However, it doesn't come close to the just over $100 r/t I secured on SWA for August.

We are fortunate. Since we live nearly equidistant between Boston and Providence we can easily jump on fares when they come out on SWA, JetBlue and Song. Once in a while I see people who have gotten decent fares on AA, but I have never been able to, (bummer, too, 'cuz Dad works for them so if we purchased tickets on AA we'd more than likely be able to upgrade to first class).

Sorry! We purchased our December airfare the first of April. We had many schedule changes, but we have tickets. Purchased through Delta. The airfare is over $200 more per person now!

We also purchased our August flights early and I am so glad I did.

I have been watching airfares continue to rise. Kinda scary!

Good luck!

:D Waiting for Southwest to open up to Dec. thought it would happen today when new Web fares came out but they didn't. DW has a freebie and I have a $30 credit from last year. Hope they open up Dec. soon...I don't feel complete until my airfare is booked!!!!!!:D

I got $216 round-trip with all taxes, non-stop from Chicago on United. The lowest possible fare was $176, but the seats for that fare were gone already. For $40 I wasn't going to argue. We're going for 8 nights, the airfare is the least expensive thing we're buying the whole trip!

Keep a sharp eye on how many seats are available on the flights you want. If it looks like the flight is selling out and they still haven't lowered the fare, you may want to go ahead and buy before it's sold out completely. But if the flights stay wide open, you lose nothing by waiting.

Chicago526-When did you get your airfare thru United? I've been looking for over a month and the lowest I have gotten was $376!! Some days i check and the same flight is $1300/person! How crazy is that? I guess I am crossing my fingers fro Southwest too!

We are flying TED (United) out of O'Hare for $176.70 per person and $97.70 for our 1yr old. We booked around the time that TED was being "introduced" to Chicagoland.

I paid $252 for American.. Since I'm going on a cruise I didn't want to wait any longer bc it;s during the dec school break.

We too are waiting for Southwest to open up their December schedule. If they don't have great rates, then for our family of 5 it will be better for us to drive (though I REALLY don't want to...) But I refuse to pay over $200 per ticket. I guess I've been spoiled in the past by Southwest.....

i booked as soonas they released airfare for dec. it had to be in march i think, $167 out of ord on spirit. now the tickets are well over $300. i even talked dsil to buy then she paid $250 out of las vegas, now her flights are well over $400.

Ok how do you get fares so far out? Every place I looked I couldn't book beyond Sept. 28 for the longest time. I tried Delta, Northwest, Southwest and American. I now have flight booked so it's not a factor this trip but just wondering.

Not going in December but November (pretty close)

I booked United (TED) May 29, R/T, N/S 216 per person. Cheapest we've ever seen in 5 years, 9 trips!

Course, saw yesterday that the return out of mco at 11:45am was GONE! Called and of course they had put us on 8am flight. That was unacceptable and TED kindly put us on 2:30pm NS, so alls well that ends well.

Actually, knowing United, that's probably not the end. I fully expect them to change schedule and get rid of other flights between now and then. That's the problem with booking so far out.

Sharon
