have you noticed this too??

I am confused about not washing hands, considering most WDW sinks are automatic-but my DD would say the same thing. LOL

One suggestion that always worked well for us when we ran across the odd restoom without a shorter sink-my DD would stand on my feet to be able to reach the faucet. :thumbsup2

Like I said, I di dnot have a problem in WDW. It felt "clean" and everything is automatic (but I would still Purell right after).

I would love more kid sized sinks and potties. That woudl be such a big help.

Just wondering what you use the baby wipes for? I always carry lysol wipes to wipe the seat and I have purell that attaches to my key ring. I use my purell even after i wash my hands.

I use the baby wipes before the Purell, makes me feel like I am not just rubbing the germs into my hands, but actually wiping them away (I told you I was a weirdo!!)

OK, so, those of you that don't wash and just use gel, do you have that gel out and ready to go, or do you have to dig it out of a bag, stroller basket, etc.? Isn't that just as icky as touching the soap dispenser? You're getting potty germs all over the stuff you're touching to get to the gel.

I think most Disney sinks are automatic, so you're only touching the soap dispenser, and you wash your hands after that. My gramma taught (brainwashed?) me to get paper towels with my elbow. Once you have a little out, you can pull that and use it to get more paper towel. Use that paper towel to open the door. Also, flush with your foot. :lmao: I think most Disney potties are on auto, also, though.

And I do all of that every time I'm in the restroom!! :rotfl:

Actually my wipes and Purell are always handy (at the top of the stroller, etc). I also could be a stock owner of Lysol wipes. I regularly wipe my purse, my keys, etc. So I hear what you are saying. Also, my problem is very mental (a little OCD maybe ;)) When I lived with roomates my towel could not touch theirs, etc. I just get an image in my head and then that is all I can think of. Thanks to Purell and Lysol wipes, I attempt to live somewhat normally - but is anyone really normal??:lmao:

ok - I may have been wrong about the BBB. It might be the Main Street Barber shop that is responsibe for all of the GIANT sized mickey confetti!!! :scared1:

See the thread called "Any Harmony Barbershop hair gel pics". I'd post the link, but my post count isn't high enough yet :sad2:

Does everyone wash this stuff out of their hair in the hotel showers?

Believe me, I understand. I was diagnosed OCD years ago. I'm a lot better about things now, but it's taken a while. I still do the bathroom routine I mentioned, but that's not part of my OCD, really. Just something I grew up doing.

I know that the Fairy Godmothers "roam" about with "pixie dust". It is not giant but it is VERY hard to get out of a sweaty head LOL. I can just imagine all that glitter clogging up the shower drains at the hotel. Or even the pool filters. :scared1: Disney also does the big confetti every morning at MK (not sure if they do it at the other parks or not). We see it on the ground a lot of times.

There was something written somewhere recently, maybe USA Today, about how we are an "over sanitized" society, and a little bit of germs are really good for your immune system. For those of you who wash, wipe, Purell all at once, have you found that you're LESS sick than some of your friends? I ask this in all seriousness...

Just to pop in and give my 2 cents. And yes, I am a nurse, so I am compulsive about good handwashing. You must wash you hands with soap and water to kill the mega germs like salmonella and influenza 100%. Hand sanitizer won't kill these germs 100%! That is straight from the CDC. So all you people who think you are being so clean by not washing with soap and water, you aren't doing yourself any favors. Purell and other hand sanitizers are better than nothing if no sinks are available but soap and water are always better than hand sanitizer. So yes, if you go to the bathroom and don't wash your hands, that is gross!

I'm sure it's all-natural, biodegradable confetti. ;) I remember learning that word in 1st grade, and I drove my mom nuts making sure everything she bought was biodegradable. :rotfl:

I'm sick, maybe, once a year, and oddly enough, it's usually in the summer. Even more amazing? I'm a teacher. I work with snotty, smelly, huggy, wonderful kids. It was worse when I was a pre-school teacher (now elementary). I couldn't wear anything dark due to snot tracks. Thoroughly icked out now? :lmao:

  1. Just doing a quick google search I found several articles that dispute this statement. However, they do encourage frequent handwashing as well as Purell, etc.
  2. I stated clearly twice that I am NOT talking about clean washrooms, I am talking about the disgusting washrooms like gas stations and convenience stores where the thought of touching the taps, etc actually makes me nauseous.
  3. It is highly inappropriate for you, as a nurse especially, to tell some one that their disease is gross. It was rude and far over the top. I am not gross, I have a problem with germs and I have officially been treated for this problem. Is it gross for someone with a disability to drool, maybe, but would you tell them you think they are gross, never. Perhaps you should bone up on your bedside manner.

Thankyou!! Another nurse here and as I was reading the thread I was busy composing my reply about the need for soap and water but you have said it perfectly.

Luckily, she's not actually your nurse, nor is she on duty (well, I suppose she could be playing on the DIS at work). She also didn't say your disease (whatever it may be...and it looks to be under control if you can determine the "danger" in a dirty restroom as opposed to a clean one) is gross. She said not washing your hands after doing your business is gross.

This is the DIS, darlin', you gotta toughen up! This Disney stuff ain't no cakewalk!! ;)

Can you tell I am having a touchy day??

That sounds exactly like my routine. And I laugh at myself sometimes because after I have flushed with my foot to avoid the toilet handle, I then have to touch the stall lock to get out. It kind of defeats the purpose, but I continue to do it anyway. I also get the paper towel before I turn the water off if it is not automatic. I then use the paper towel to turn off the water before using it to open the door.

Too funny! I never thought about the lock. Gonna have to start getting some TP squares to unlock myself. :rotfl:

Great you have now added an extra step to my OCD bathroom routine. I hate bathrooms and germs gross me out, but the thought of leaving a restroom without washing my hands turns my tummy!

This type of thread just cracks me up - those germs that the phobics are so afraid of don't stop at the bathroom door, you know. They are on everything at WDW, (and the entire world, including your mail!) so I guess we should all go around with wipes on our hands, for every door we open, every ride vehicle safety restraint we touch, every chair we pull out to sit down in, etc?

Studies show that those who are not exposed to a variety of germs actually have weaker immune systems - immune systems you want to have be as strong as possible when you get older and cells start to mutate and turn into cancer cells. Getting colds and bugs actually strengthens the immune response.

A severe phobia of germs is of special concern - and professional treatment should be sought. I'm not saying anyone here shows that level, but if you think your quality of life is being affected because of your germ issues, you might want to think about treatment.

I actually saw a show on germs in pubic restrooms. They tested people hands after using the restrooms. Some had washed and others hadn't. Depending on the rest room some people who washed actually had more germs on their hands than the ones who didn't:scared1: It came from touching the taps, the soap dispenser, the paper towel dispenser and the door. Ever since seeing that show I use baby wipes and hand sanitizer!

I must have seen the same show, we do hand sanitizer and baby wipes here!
