Have you lost weight during your trip?

Yup, I lose about 10=15 lbs a trip!:) I don't know how since I eat enough for two people at F & W etc:rolleyes1 actually, I tend to lose it in water weight because of the heat.

Shouldn't this thread be on the "Weight Loss at Disney" forum? ;)

I wish!! I never lose weight on vacation!! I have no self control when it comes to Disney treats so I always manage to bring an extra few lbs home with me!!

i always come back 5-10 lbs lighter. i don't like to eat when I am hot, so I have a significant drop in calories. i know that at least a few pounds are water weight as well, from all that sweating in the florida sun!

Same here. It's my own version of the DDP=Disney DIET Plan.

I lost approx 5 lbs last Fall. Even during Free Dining. While some of the loss is legit from the walking/exercise, I suspect some is simply water loss.

My son and I were there in early May for 4 park days. We only did half days at the parks but I still managed to lose 2 pounds. I thought that was pretty good since we ate junk the whole time! I'm trying to convince my DH that I need to visit Disney more often/longer so I can lose a larger amount of weight.

I took my son one year in June...never again! I love the heat and rarely complain about it being too hot...but it was 97 degrees with 95% humidity every day. I lost 9 pounds in 5 days. Not a good way to lose weight. Like I said, never again!

It's funny you asked about the FitBit because I just told my DH the other day that I want to get one especially for our upcoming trip in October. He thinks I am nuts, but I was totally serious...I want to see exactly how many steps we take in one day at each of the parks. We always joke and wonder how many miles we walk, this would give us an actual answer. If I were to wear one along with my MB, I would either wear my FitBit on my dominant wrist (right) and then MB on the wrist where I usually wear my watch (left)...I could try to wear it on the wrist with my MB but I am not sure how comfortable that would be.
I have a Fitbit - haven't worn it to Disney yet but will in Sept. - the directions for the Fitbit has you wearing it on your non-dominate hand.

Thank you for the info, as you can already tell I am a Newbie when it comes to these things :goodvibes.

Best case scenario:

Weight - 150 lbs, walking 10 miles per day = burning 1,500 calories per day walking. At that weight, your caloric burn without the walking would be somewhere between 1,600-1,800 calories per day.

One sit down meal at a restaurant averages about 1500 calories. So, your extra calories are used up in that sit down meal. If you can keep the rest of your food/drink intake below 1,600-1,800 calories per day, you can lose weight.

Let's say that you hold yourself to only 1,000 calories the entire remainder of the day - you have now burned 600-800 calories more on that date than you have consumed. Let's go with the higher number - 800 calories per day. Over a 10 day WDW vacation, you have consumed 8,000 calories fewer than you have burned. At 3,500 calories per pound of fat, you could lose a little more than 2 pounds. Anything more than that is almost certainly water weight dropped from the extra exercise and the heat.

ETA - there are free calculators on the web to help you figure out how many calories you burn per mile of walking. The gist of it is simple, no matter how fast you walk, you burn about 1 calorie per pound of body weight for every mile that you walk. So, the good news if you are heavier like me (I weigh 185 lbs) - you are burning more calories per mile and can eat more.

I lost 5lbs before our last trip. We just got back yesterday and I gained that 5 back. This despite tons of walking and sweating and pushing a heavy double stroller. DH likes good food so we do some of the nicer dinning and I like Mickey waffles so....sigh....oh well, time to get to working again on getting that off and more.

I also lose when on Disney vacations. All the walking, drinking water, and not eating as much - even with free dining. My sister and I usually split counter service meals because they are so big. And eat a lot of salads (which I know all the toppings and dressing can add calories), but it does help.

On cruises I usually maintain. Probably because I don't eat the buffet.

I lost close to 10 pounds on my last trip. It's all the walking and I generally don't eat as much due to the heat. I'm just hoping the weight loss the first few days of the trip doesn't alter the fit of my wedding dress too much.

I can't imagine it will but who knows.

I do well to break even. If we didn't do DDP, I might lose a little, but we're doing it again this time because of FD. It will be hotter than we are used to this trip, though, so maybe I'll make some lighter choices. We'll see!

I always eat whatever I want to on a WDW trip, and typically come home a few pounds lighter.

Out of curiosity, I wore my fitbit on our last trip. I averaged 7.8 miles per day, with a low of 5.0 and a high of 10.5 in a day.

This was a trip without any running. On those runDisney trips where we do multiple races, the average miles per day is a fair bit higher. :)

I usually gain, but this last time I lost 2 pounds after our 5 night stay. I avoided french fries, and only had one mickey bar, but other than that ate as usual.
