Have you had to wear a heart monitor?

I wore one. And the company sent someone to the hospital where I was working to hook it up for me. I worked all day and the next until she came to remove it. Work was one of my major stressors, so I was glad to wear it there and catch anything. Ha!

ChesVal -- is the entire monitor taped to you? That's what we do to dogs when they have to wear them. But for me, I just latched the monitor onto my pants. I could even detach it for short periods of time if I needed to.

Funny -- I haven't really had those heart problems since I left that job I was at at the time. I should get those dr's bills deducted from my taxes as a work expense.

ROFLMAO! :rotfl:

Yes, I have worn a HM several times and I did go to work with it on once. But it was a total pain (cumbersome and awkward), people treated me differently and I couldn't avoid constant questions...it drove me crazy.

After that, I just stayed home. I agree that you shoulod try to stay busy so that you get a record of 'normal life' for a more accurate reading.

I hear you on the itchyness and showering withdrawal...but I hope this will result in their finding the problem and can fix it easily.

I haven't worn one, but I have put them on patients. Some individuals have a reaction to the tape, that may be why you are itching. Do you best not to scratch. If you lossen the tape your recorder may lose connection and unfortunately you will probably have to go through it all over.

Many of the patients went to work the next day. The best way to hide one is to wear lose, long clothes and put the bag that holds the recorder under your clothing.

Well I am at home today and feeling very itchy and dirty. :p i've been doing some cleaning though, and tried to exercise but it's a little hard to be active with this thing hanging off your hip (I've got it strapped around my waist). Only 5 more hours to go, though!

I haven't really been having any heart problems and all my other tests (EKG, echocardiogram) have come back normal-- I think they're only checking it because I have such a stong family history of arythmias(sp?) and tachycardia. When the doc put it on he said "now do everything you can to try to trigger an episode."

I'm just like.... "um, what episode?" I don't have episodes. :p I just have high blood pressure and generally feel okay.

Oh well! At least it's only for a day. My brother had to wear one for weeks at a time when he was young. THAT would be tough. In fact he hated it so much that one day he tore it off and threw it in the toilet!!

I also worn one a few years back. It was the late 80's so most people thought I was wearing a cassette walkman!

If you get HBO - watch this weeks episode of "Curb your Enthusiasm" Larry has to wear one, and as always it's really funny. Warning: If you have never watched this show, it is a bit "off the wall". Larry David is the co-creater of Seinfeld.

Good luck!
