Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

Had 2nd Moderna shot yesterday at 4:00 p.m. & wow, it's kinda kickin' my butt :(. Up all night with body aches & nausea and horrible chills. At work now trying to finish "mission critical" stuff & head back home to hopefully sleep.

Got mine same exact time....feel same as you do. But...it's working. That's the good news.

Got my second Pfizer shot yesterday at Kaiser clinic around 2:30pm. I only felt slight muscle aches last night and have the predictable sore arm this morning. I'm hopeful that will be the extent of the side effects. I feel like I will be in the clear when I hit the 24 hour mark, who knows. My husband has his second Moderna shot on April 30th. Neither of my sons(28&20) have scheduled their vaccines, I think they're holding out for Johnson and Johnson. I'm worried though because they've been called back to the office(they work at the same company) and will be working in person starting next Monday.

Well yea, it was a bit too soon to say. I don't know if it's happened to anybody else but this morning I woke up and was like less intelligent for a while. Hard to describe, I was typing stupid things, and my memory was shot. In fact I put in a ticket to IT about something that I have literally done thousands of times, only for them to respond back telling me I was just doing it wrong and nothing was wrong with the computer. My head finally cleared up about the middle of the day. That just ushered in some new side effects. I have a lot of body aches, intermittent headache, chills so much I thought my teeth were going to chatter, and a temp of 99.9. I took some ibuprofen while ago and I feel a little better now but still nowhere near 100%.

I have felt this way since I woke up this morning. I only slept about 4-1/2 hours last night; I kept having hot flashes, so I got up. From 4:30am-9am, I felt the 'fog' + nauseous; then I went to sleep for a couple of hours. I'm achy and still tired, hot flashes still going on. I'll take some more tylenol, and I'll probably nap more later today. I hope this goes away quickly, because I hate feeling sick.

For the women: my friend is 55. She has been in menopause for 5 years. 3 days after her first Phizer shot she had some light bleeding. Anyone on this thread hear of this? I'm 64 and hope it doesn't happen when I get my shot.

I have not heard of that, but have heard some anecdotal reports of heavier than normal periods. I actually experienced one of the shortest and lightest periods of recent memory (3 days long) that started a week after shot #2.

Your friend really needs to have that checked out. It is never normal to have bleeding in menopause. That happened to my mom several years back (she was in her early 60s at the time) and it ended up being related to recent weight loss, but they did a full work up to eliminate more serious causes.

TMI ahead.....

I'm (sigh) 50 and in pre-menopause for the last 6 years. I did have a bit of light (3 days) bleeding about 4 days after my first (Pfizer) shot. I assumed it was just a funky period, as I have not had...in any shape or form...a 'regular' period since 2015. I went a year without one in 2015, then had one that lasted 6 weeks, went away for a week, came back for 6 more weeks, went away for 2 weeks, came back for 3 weeks....then gone for 6 months. Bakc every 60-90 days, and lasting any where from a week to 4 weeks. Yes, everything is fine.....GYN says this is normal with some women. So I just...assumed...it was yet another funky period. I just had the 2nd shot yesterday, so I'll keep this in mind.

Yes, I have heard of this happening. They are not sure why it is happening and they are trying to research it.

Did not happen to me. I'm 57 and have been in menopause for about 6 years. I don't think it's a known side effect, but who knows!

Yep. Heard about this a lot.

Doing my 15 minute wait after jab 2! Not sure what the pharmacist did but I had blood dripping down my arm! That has never happened to me before. Hope all the good stuff went in 🤪

My friend had that once on a flu shot. I think they nicked a small capillary near the surface.

I haven't heard specifically about this situation. For me (42) I had some spotting after my first dose of mederna and had cramps after each shot. The cramps can be normal for me at any time of the month. I do take the pill and I take to 2 month consecutively to help with issues I have. I never spot in between though so this was unusual.

Warning! Could be TMI...

My friend (35 years old) just told me that after her J&J shot she had the heaviest period of her life. As in, excessive bleeding all night long.

How about some states or countries offering a COVID-19 vaccine to visitors willing to visit, and a second dose if they stay long enough. In the Maldives it may not be the same vaccines approved in the US. They've received vaccines from China, India, and WHO which may not be as effective.
In addition to the reason mentioned in both articles — tourism dollars — I would guess there are two other reasons they'd do that: either to keep surplus doses from going to waste (this one is implied in the Alaska article too) or to reduce the chance that unvaccinated tourists would infect the local population. Both are good reasons that are probably better than any downsides some people might see.

At this stage, a less-effective vaccine is still better than no vaccine at all, and we'll all be getting boosters down the line anyway, so I don't see that as a dealbreaker, either. Neither one says that the locations would be requiring vaccines, just "offering" them, so I'd also assume that people who want a vaccine and live in vaccine-plentiful areas will already have had theirs, while those who are coming from vaccine-sparse areas would be happy to take Alaska or the Maldives' doses.
