Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

Not sure if it's been mentioned here, but the newly released CDC guidelines for vaccinated people state that they no longer need to quarantine or test if they have been in contact with a positive case. Such great news for many of you on this thread!
Correct, but note that this means two weeks after your second shot (or two weeks after your only shot for the J&J one).

I have no idea how accurate this website is and I'm not sure if if works for all states, but this may give people an idea of where you can look for vaccines in your area: https://vaccinefinder.org/

I think some of their "availability" things get outdated quickly (I was looking for an appointment for a relative where this website said it was available, but the actual pharmacy website had no availability)...but this website lets you search up to within 50 miles of a zipcode, it lets you filter by which vaccine you want, and it just shows some places I never would have thought of. Like...I didn't know Walmart pharmacies were giving vaccines, but they are listed on this website. So now that's another place I can check.

Got my J&J vaccine last night and have had minimal side effects so far. Kind of achy and just tired. Had an appointment about an hour away at the NYS Fair Grounds at 11:15PM. Finally got my shot at about 12:45 and was home a little after 2AM. I took today off of work just in case.

The entire process was handled and streamlined very well, there were just a lot of people. I had to laugh about it though - I waited in line for about 20 minutes outside before getting into the lobby. So once you got inside you're like "oh I'm almost there, no worries." And then you turn the corner and go into this huge room with stanchions and gates everywhere and back-and-forth queue lines. It was exactly like WDW when you think as soon as you enter the attraction building and you're about to ride but it's like SURPRISE! Another hour of waiting inside!

All I could think about was "wow I hope there's a gift shop at the end of this!" :rotfl:

I got misty eyed too. Thanking all the volunteers at the vaccination clinic. They are working so hard and were so organized and efficient and pleasant, and I'm sure exhausted!

Same here ! Single dad and my DD14 came with me to the vaccination site - Monday morning at 3:30 am - on a day she had school - that was emotional for me to begin with - after the shot, they handed out “I got my covid vaccine” stickers and I wore it the entire day- now, I pinned it to my sweatshirt - when I watch news segments about the vaccine now , there is a feeling of pride - my 83 yo mom moved in with us right at the beginning of the pandemic, so for me, the vaccine was an easy decision - will never forget Monday morning, and getting the vaccine - ok - crying again —-❤️

Saw an interesting piece on the news before - the director for the American Health care association was interviewed - he is the director for nursing homes and long term care facilities in NYC - He stated that since Covid-19 vaccinations started at these facilities, there has not been one single Covid -related hospitalization to date - pretty remarkable stuff . Finally - some good news !

I can visit mom now weekly on her unit. I can even stay several hours. It’s a gift. Since we are both fully vaccinated and more than 2 weeks out, we visit without our masks. She has severe memory loss so it’s so much easier to communicate without the masks.

Took a walk to Starbucks before--- my first trek since my vaccine--- felt so much different-- I don't like to get preachy, but it feels like a rebirth. Still wore my mask, but when I did take it off to drink a bit, (outside along bike path, with no one around) , it just felt different. A truly great feeling, and I was 100% ANTI- Vaccine a few months ago- So glad I got it.

Thats an awesome Blessing !! So happy for you !! (and your mom!)

I had the pleasure of working in the drive through vaccination clinic in my home town last week; and, it was awesome to see everyone rolling through to get this done. I am so so tired of covid and all the people I know who have been impacted. I'm hoping to get another opportunity to take part soon.
Thanks for volunteering! Feels good to be part of the solution, doesn't it?

My DD, SIL, and GD are all volunteering at a site in the Atlanta area, and have been for weeks.

I got my second moderna vaccine exactly 4 weeks ago today. Last night I developed a rash around my injection site. It’s very itchy. Is this that moderna rash people have been talking about?
Sounds like it, yes. Pretty common side-effect.

Just a datapoint on J&J.

My wife just got the J&J vaccine yesterday afternoon. She said the after effect at the injection site was more sore than any flu vaccine she remembers ever getting. Also, she broke out in hives around her midsection and arm in the middle of the night (about 10 hours later) with a low-grade fever (100.6 highest). In reference, she has never gotten hives from any other vaccine in the past.
Hives (medical term is urticaria) are a normal allergic reaction, but significant hives on the stomach (or anywhere away from the injection site) are a sign of a moderate allergic reaction. Moderate, as in beyond a normal reaction.

She should be fine, but if she develops any difficulty breathing, swelling of the throat or tongue, call 911 right away.

My 80 and 87 year old parents got their second Moderna vaccine today! Definitely a moment. I'm a little emotional about it. And after a year sitting home, they just signed up for a fall bowling league. They're also going to start signing up to attend Mass. These will be huge in their lives.
