Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

“Smoker” can be a relative term, and may not necessarily mean active smoking. It could mean someone with chronic lung disease, like COPD, even though they aren’t currently smoking.
But smokers is already separated out from COPD at least for NJ. I'm not debating smoking for priority (already gave my stance) but if they mean diseases associated with smoking as opposed to a person who smokes then that should probably always be clarified. I think smoking due to its addictive properties might be why they used the wording "medical condition" because yes smoking is a choice but smoking is also quite addictive due to the chemicals and its affect on one's body not only in the addictiveness but also the chemicals.

In my state there is no such category that says "smoker" but COPD is covered in Phase 3.

Just a reminder to everyone to keep checking your websites for availability & appointments to open. One of our local grocery chain’s pharmacies are distribution sites. They opened last evening & were filled almost immediately. I am looking for an appointment for my DH who just turned 65, has an underlying medical issue plus is still working in an essential role. I randomly searched the sites I know of a couple of times today, everything still full. Tried again about 20 minutes ago & one of the stores had added another day, one spot per time slot with about 15 spots total & I was able to book him into one. I am so relieved.

So stalk those sites just like you do for airfare drops or hard to get ADRs.

https://www.kmbc.com/article/law-en...d-19-coronavirus-vaccine-in-missouri/35216910 this is for MO. From the article it represents "Tier 1 of Phase 1B of its COVID-19 vaccination plan, which is focused on vaccinating law enforcement, fire service and public health officials."

Tier 2 of Phase 1B starts Monday and includes "people who are at increased risk for severe illness, including individuals aged 65 and older and any adult with cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD or intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, heart conditions, a weakened immune system due to organ transplant, severe obesity, pregnancy, sickle cell disease or Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus." This is because the governor advised "Federal partners informed the state that they plan to significantly increase vaccine supply next week"

Good information for how MO is advising with these two buckets: "people in Phase 1A and Phase 1B - Tier 1 should work through their employer and/or association to access the vaccine. People in Phase 1B - Tier 2 should contact their local pharmacy or health care provider or visit MOStopsCovid.com to learn when vaccines may be available and how to receive them."

48 hours since vaccine. Arm is still sore but my pain is down to around a 2 - minor. No other symptoms. I'm feeling pretty good today. I really think my fatigue from yesterday was an effect from the shot. I'm scheduled Feb 9th for my 2nd shot.

This is how it reads in MA (and it specifies “high risk for complications”):

Yup different states are different, that's why I posted what NJ was because that was where the original poster who mentioned smoking is from and what the topic of discussion was. When you said smoking could include someone with COPD I was explaining that for at least NJ that is already a separate condition listed in the same phase as smoking which means they are not including COPD as a rationale for including smoking at least it no specifically. Otherwise I would imagine they would have said "COPD as a result of smoking" or "COPD not as a result of smoking" or something to that effect instead they listed them separately. For sure COPD is something that smokers get.

ETA: I forgot to add that's really interesting that there is only 3 phases and it's like really 2 phases then general population. My state did 5 phases with the 5th phase being everyone and children (should they be approved). All ages are listed as 16+ at the moment.

CA hasn't listened to the science as they still believe this will cut down the spread when their priority should be those folks with the most risks. CA is doing the homeless starting at ages 17 with no known medical conditions needed whereas folks who have diabetes with high blood pressure or under 75 who aren't homeless have to wait until the spring to get their shot. Our governor was asked why and he said, they can stay shelter in place.

I had the Pfizer vaccine. I'm a little over a week out from my second dose.

1st dose- mild headache, some chills, fatigue. My arm barely hurt.

2nd dose- slightly worse headache, but still manageable with Tylenol, my arm was quite sore and tender and 4 days after I got the shot I developed a red circle where it was given (not noticeable mark before and it quickly went away after that day). No chills or fatigue with second dose.

Almost everyone I work with has experienced headaches with the vaccine. A lot of people had vertigo or fevers with the second dose. So far some people have said the vaccine "kicked their butt" for a day or so but most have found the side effects manageable. I think all would say a small price to pay for ending the pandemic.

My DD is going today - NJ. one hour away from our house at a shoprite. her original appt. next week was cancelled due to shortage and they switched her appt . to today at another shoprite. the phases in nj change often and originally some that were 1A, even 1B are now changed to a second tier of 1B (there are two tiers within 1B now here). She asked to be sure it was ok she can go and they said to just come. she is in a private health care type setting daily. My DH is going next monday to a mega site (they work together).
Question: He had covid over 90 days ago, I assume it's ok for him to get vaccinated? I read the research online and all said to get it and Fauci said to get it after 90 days of the covid virus in you. So i am hoping he is ok. Opinion please...

Also, even if they get (DD and DH) a second shot appt. should we be concerned it will eventually be cancelled due to supply shortage or do they hold it for them ? Like it's assigned?

The homeless are an incredibly vulnerable population. God forbid they be protected.
