Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

I really appreciate that! This is the first opportunity they've even had to be even the slightest bit hopeful. Even if it is just a waiting list, it's more than they had yesterday!

SO sorry to hear about the difficulty your parents have had even getting correct information about vaccine locations! Let us know what happens!

After weeks of bits and pieces of vaccine info here but nothing specific the county finally started listing sites to email/register to get on waiting lists. Most supposedly randomly select those 70 or over for appointments. DH and I are on several lists and he finally got an appointment for Feb. 5th. No word for me so when Safeway opened up appointment sign-ups online I grabbed one for 25 miles away on Monday. Now we're both just hoping and praying that they actually get enough vaccine to distribute.

I have Kaiser health plan in Northern California. they are still only vaccinating 75 and older because they say that the number of doses they have are not enough to extend eligibility to 65 and older.

I'm just over 65, so I'm on hold for now.

This is kind of sad, but today the Dodger Stadium mass vaccination site was blocked for an hour by an anti-mask and anti-vax group. I'll refrain from reposting the exact message they gave, but the organizers mentioned protesting vaccines, masks, testing, lockdowns, (Anthony) Fauci, (Bill) Gates, and China. The message referred to those in line as "sheeple" (I understand that means those who they believe to be easily misled). I'm kind of surprised that nobody was arrested for blocking traffic or even for trespassing, since Dodger Stadium is private property.

“This is completely wrong,” said German Jaquez, who drove from his home in La Verne and had been waiting an hour for his vaccination when the stadium’s gates were closed. He said some of the protesters were telling people in line that the coronavirus is not real and that the vaccination is dangerous.
“This is the wrong message,” Jaquez said. “I’ve been waiting for weeks to get an appointment. I am a dentist; I am taking a big risk being around patients. I want to be safe for my patients and for my family. The vaccine is the only way to beat the virus.”

^ Good grief. If you don’t want it, don’t get it. Leave those of us who do want it alone. Freaks.
I was SO thankful that my parents got their vaccinations at Dodger Stadium the day before that! They said that everything went smoothly for them, even in the rain. The protesting might have upset them, what with the delay and all, so I'm really glad that they didn't have to experience it.

Was that in MD? I saw something similar on the news 2 nights ago. As a pharmacist, we give a lot of shots into the muscle and I was perplexed by this technique. I jab it right into the deltoid.
apparently many md's don't know that. pharmacists and nurses know what they're doing because they do it all the time.

after day five dh says his stomach is bothering him , particularly at night. not sure if it's from the vaccine or possibly the tylenol/motrin he was taking on day 1-3?
i'm going tmrw. for mine in a snow storm apparently. megasites will still be opened, some local counties rescheduled their monday appts. for today due to large amts. of snow coming monday but mega sites still will be opened (nj).

Thanks so much Kathy! I appreciate having so many pulling for us.

How exciting that you all got appointments! That's so encouraging. It's helping me to keep the faith.

My wife got her second dose last week on Monday, had to take Tuesday off of work she was feeling so bad. Was fine Wednesday. This Friday she managed to get her parents vaccinated since there were some extra doses left in the vial at the end of the day. I was third in line for any extra they had yesterday, they ended up with two extra. I will wait as long as I need to but am ready to take it whenever I get the chance.

I’ve been reading some more and there are questions as to what was going on that caused the gates to be closed for about an hour. I can’t really find any images/video of vehicles being blocked, but they’re certainly out among the vehicles waving their signs. Word is that the LA Fire Department ordered the gates closed for safety reasons until such time as they could persuade the protesters to stay on the sidewalk outside of Dodger Stadium.

I get that they might want to protest if they think this is some sort of scam, but I wouldn’t want maskless protesters approaching me while I have my windows open to ask for information.

Well, that's better than SoCal Kaiser is doing. They're still only doing health care workers and care facility residents. They say they'll contact those 75 and over when appointments/vaccine become available.

On the news last night they showed some people actually blocking the entrance road. As well as walking among the cars that were waiting.
