...... yes, I know I'm asking for it posting this
...... but it is very trendy to have a water feature in the garden and I've been bought a very tasteful one for my birthday ( looks like one of the old-fashioned water pumps......... and is solar powered or can be plugged in!) We haven't set it up yet although apparently it will only take 5 minutes, but I think I'll like the sound - very relaxing....... what about you, do you have one or are you thinking of buying one?

Hi, I don't have one but there is a small stream bordering my property which is very relaxing.

I think you should blame Charlie Dimmock for that! Maybe for your next birthday they will "Ground Force" you! Who else but the Brits could come up with Ground Force AND Junkyard wars!

I have a pond with a fountain and some fish and zillions of frogs - does that count?!! :)

We've got a bath - the amount of times the kids use it I think it counts as a feature!

Hi,
Strange you should ask as I am digging out a pond at the moment, in fact I should be digging now instead of using my computer but I needed a rest!!!

Hi Shirley

My Mum has one in her garden....as well as being relaxing, that trickling noise makes me want to go to the loo all the time! I think the trick is to get a splashing noise rather than a tinkling wee-inducing trickle!

we have one in the understairs cupboard - it's been in a box in the garage for at least 3 years - maybe we will get around to installing it in this new house. It's just one of those pebble ponds as I don't want any real water with Katie around.

We've got a half-barrel about 4 ft or so in diameter with a water pump on it (powered by electricity, not elbow grease!) Hanging from the pump by a handle is a small half-barrel which is tilted so that the water runs from the "tap" end of the pump into the little bucket/barrel and from that on to the largish stone in the large barrel. The stone sit on a grid. It's a bit of a pain having to wash them each year to get rid of the moss - it take about 1hr 45 mins to empty the barrel and scrub the stones - but it's worth it. This year we are looking for a miniature water lily to put in there for a change. That remins me - I'm supposed to be looking on the web! :smooth:

I'm embarrassed to admit it - I always thought they were tacky - but, yes, we've got one. It's a millstone (apparently) and I have to admit that it is very relaxing.

Charlie and her flaming Dimmocks have got a lot to answer to! Her place is actually near to Astrid and I's, but fortunately she doesn't seem to be quite so famous now . . . either that or Darryl's got bored with her because we don't have to turn on each time Ground Force is on the telly ;)

We've got a pond, but all it's got in it is lillies (very pretty;) ) and weedie algae stuff . . with three cats don't think it would be very clever having fishies - especially as grey herons fly over our garden each afternoon.

In the spring we have loads of newts who then give birth to even more newts . . and then they go off for the summer somewhere.

Fascinating little critters, but don't do a lot for me.

Oh - and we've got an old fashioned pump thingy in the garden - doesn't work, just obviously looked good for the people who owned the house before us to put in:rolleyes:
