Have you gone THANKSGIVING week?

We are looking to go Nov 20-26 2011, which is Thanksgiving week. We just got APs, so we won't need tickets.

Are there generally discounts for the week, considering it is a holiday?

% off room, free dining, etc?

If not, we will probably stay off-site this time, but I was just wondering if it is possible that discounts will be offered.

We stayed with free dining in 2008 and 2009 (had to buy 1 day park tix). If gone in 2010 could have gotten free dining with pin code and 2 day min. tix. There were room only discounts as well, but part of the week was blacked out. This is just my recollection. You can get full previous discount history on another website....sorry...not sure about the rules of posting other websites info.

Our entire family (7 adults and 7 children) will be going to Disney this Thanksgiving! Staying at Beach Club and Boardwalk villas...may change at 7 month window. How are the crowds at this time? Any recommendation for where to have out Thanksgiving Dinner?

We were there for Thanksging in 2009. It was a last minute trip as I was 34 weeks pregnant with my 4th and we didn't want to plan too far ahead just in case.

We had an AP rate.. I think it was 30% off. And I was surprised that it included the whole week.

Was it crowded..sure. But totally manageable and we had a great time!!

We usually arrive the weekend after Thanksgiving and can grab a discount. The pin code I received today blacks out the dates of 11/20/11 thru 11/26/11 though. I'm not sure if that indicates there will be no discounts of any sort that week or not. I hope something comes available for you

We were there Thanksgiving 2008 and got free dining!

In 2009 we arrived the weekend before Thanksgiving, and had Free Dining.

In 2010, we could not arrive early enough to get free dining. There were room only discounts for part of the week, but we found that the inflated "Thanksgiving Rates" of the rest of the week cancelled out the value of the discounted days.

We stayed at the Swan instead, and received a really nice discounted rate. (Using our Entertainment book.)

We went in 2009 for Thanksgiving. We were able to get FD for our whole stay even though Thanksgiving was blocked out because we checked in on a day that was not blocked. Not sure how FD works when you have APs since I know you have to get a package to get FD.

As for the crowds, we were there for 13 days from the Monday before Thanksgiving until a week after the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The only super crowded days were Thanksgiving and the Friday and Saturday after.

I arrive the Saturday after Thanksgiving; I had a 40% off pin code but it listed Saturday as a black-out day; so I did a room-only ressie for the first day and a package after that.

So a lot of discounts are blacked out for holidays.

We did "Thanksgiving at the Fort" the first time with a large group. It was lots of fun and the food was pretty good. It was much better than most Dis buffets and very "traditional" food. I would highly recommend it. The only possible problem is it's in an outdoor pavillion. So, if you happen to get cold weather, it would be a bit of a bummer! We opted to stay away from the parks on Thanksgiving day that year. The next year we were at HS and had dinner at Brown Derby. It was very good, but I probably would have preferred Prime Time for a "homey" feel. Liberty Tree Tavern would be my choice if planning on going to the MK. It is my understanding that MK is typically the most crowded on Thanksgiving day.
