Have you gone bag less, any advice?

Anyone have any recent reports of going bag less in the parks? How well did it work for you? Did it cut your wait time? Advice?

My nephew does all of the time, and the only real downside is he almost always then has to go thru the metal detector. Over 5 days park hopping only 1 time did he get to skip it. Plus I saw them asking people to empty their pockets, so just stuffing everything into pockets may not be a great idea anymore.

We do it all the time now. Phone, wallet and magic band is all we need.

I did for years until I had kids. Even now, all of my stuff stays on my person and the kids stuff is in their bag. I just have my phone, chapstick, license, credit card, mb and pins

Did it in June. Cargo shorts. Worked well. Still had to go through metal detectors most of the time and empty pockets, but really no more time than bag check and sometimes less, so...

Did it the first time this summer and we won't ever go back. Phone and magic band and we were good to go. It was so nice to have my hands free and skip the bag check. We didn't find that we did the metal detector that much more often

I dropped the bag earlier this year now that DS is older. SO LIBERATING!!! Love it.

I've come to learn if it doesn't fit in my pockets, I don't need it.

I went bag less for the first time year ago last may. Pants had lots of pockets. I agree that it is very liberating and I loved it as well. I will never go back to a bag.

YMMV, but I was able to go through the no bag line wearing this type of see through lanyard around my neck. I put my a little emergency cash, phone and ID in it.

My daughter-in-law used a similar neck bag/pouch when we were there this summer and she never had to go through bag check either. I have a crossbody bag that's the same size but opaque, so I had to go through bag check if I was wearing it (though they usually just waved me through without even looking in my bag). By the time we left Disney I had already ordered 2 different neck bag/pouches from Amazon to use for future trips. My crossbody bag is small enough that if I don't put my phone in it, I can just fold it in half and put it in my pocket to walk through the security area. I love being bag free, but I worry that things will fall out of my pocket so a small pouch works great for me (especially since it fits in a pocket). Looking forward to using the neck pouch next time.

If you intend to arrive before Rope Drop, then you save little time, if any.

If you arrive after Park opening, going bagless may save you some time.

We prefer bagless when possible....but that likely means metal detectors (and I think that's a good thing).

Magic Bands and a $1 rain poncho (thinner than a pack of tissues) are all you really need; bringing parts of my wallet makes me happier.

Everyone was walling through the detectors last week when I was at AK. I've been going bag less since my surgery this summer. I have driver's license, a credit card and cash in one pocket. My keys in the other. I asked if I needed to take out the money and credit cards. I was told no. So just keys were placed in the bowl.

My husband wears cargos and he emptied all his pockets, filling 2 bowls. But he emptied water bottles and other things not metal.

Going bag less today and planning on less in the pockets! I won't have keys and dh isn't going to over stuff with all the what ifs.

I went bagless a few years ago after back surgery. I really miss my camelbak but it is nice not to lug a bunch of stuff around.

I wear cargo shorts and put my stuff in ziploc bags. In a quart bag I carry a small mint tin with my meds, a cheap $1 poncho, small travel size hand lotion, travel tums, my "out of the house" ecig, extra juice, and a fuel rod sized charger. The bag makes it easy if i get pulled for the metal detector but it is still small enough that I rarely get asked what is in my pocket if just waived thru.

If its going to be cool at night I wear a tshirt and then take an under armor type shirt and roll that up and put it in my other side pocket. Phone and wallet go in back pockets. As for keys I went and got an extra made and since my car is a 2000 the key is flat. I leave my regular keys in the car and keep the flat key in my wallet.

I do wear men's cargo shorts, the pockets are a bit larger. But I can carry everything I need and not feel encumbered by a large backpack.

I go bagless unless I'm wearing a sundress, then I wear a running belt under my dress. I put my cc, ID and some cash in the belt, carry my cell phone in my hand and glasses around my neck. After I get through security I got to the bathroom and pull the belt over my dress and put my cell phone in it. https://www.amazon.com/Upgrade-Eazy...&qid=1480778668&sr=1-16&keywords=running+belt I made the mistake of wearing it over my dress once at MK and the guard made me take it off and go through the bag check because she could see the outline of my cc in it. It pulls on so that was funny watching me kind of wiggle out of it without bending over. The bag check guy was like, what the heck but I was laughing the whole time.

Honestly I can't imagine dragging a bag around all day long...I've only been to Hollywood Studios (Sep 2013) and Downtown Disney (Aug 2016), but I've been to my home park Busch Gardens Williamsburg TONS of times and never take a bag. The trick is cargo shorts with big pockets. Which, of course, I've never, ever seen for girls. (The ones I have are supposed to be for guys, but whatever...they're still shorts and big pockets are great.) Anyways. Bags are annoying; they dig into your shoulder and you can't take them on all the rides. Just get cargo shorts and put your $$$/phone/ID/etc in the pockets, it works great.

We are always bagless... DH takes his wallet and puts my phone in his pocket. SO much better than carrying a bag all day.

We do it all the time with our kids (age 5 and 9). Phone goes in the cargo shorts and all we need is a magic band. Often go through the detectors, but it's still quicker than the regular line

While I agree with sentiment regarding bags, even when my kids were little, and I had to lug the big diaper bag, I have never encountered a ride at Disney that I couldn't bring my bag along. Even Soarin, which has limited bag space, you leave you bag on the ground and it is waiting for you when you return

It's great not hard at all to get used to taking less
One idea to test just how little you need, bring your bag to the park and put it in a locker. Only go back to it if you need something really bad. If you go all day without going back, don't bring a bag at all the next day
