What are some of your experiences with Disney Magic? I am curious to hear about some of the extra special things that the CM's have done that have really made your stay stay magical.

Last year I took my niece to WDW and we stayed at the Contemporary. We only stayed 3 days but on our last day we were the only ones at the pool when the lifeguards came out at 9am. They dressed her in the Sourcerer Mickey hat, Mickey Gloves and gave her a wand. She counted to 5 and they turned on all the fountains (only she couldn't see that they did it, so it appeared that her magic wand did the trick). They gave her a certificate signed by Mickey and later emailed me a digital photo. She has both on her wall and still talks about it. I think they have a "magical moments" program where they do special things like this at different resorts and the parks.

My dh and I were having dinner at Gulliver's (at the Swan) with our then 3 yr old dd about a year ago. A family at the table next to us had a dd a little older and they were actually staying there for business (this was their first trip to Disney actually). We had some nice conversation and they were eventually on their way.

When we tried to get our check the CM told us it was taken care of. Turned out the family bought our dinner--people we barely knew!! This only happens in Disney!! We did look them up and sent them a nice basket of wine, chocolates with a plush animal from the Disney Florist not because we felt we owed them but because it was an extremely nice thing they did and it was the least we could do for them!!

And, at another stay at the S/D...I thought turndown left a chocolate by your pillow but when she came by she told me they didn't do that anymore--we were a bit disappointed but it was fine. We headed out for a while. When we got back there was a plate with 5 huge chocolate chip (fresh baked) cookies sitting on the nightstand! Now that was a surprise!!

So, I will consistently defend the S/D when people comment that they lack Disney magic!!

My dad is confined to a wheelchair. One night after the luau we were waiting for a bus at the ttc to take us back to the bwv's but it was so late they said we had to go to dtd and then pick up a bus to the hotel. Well an hour later a bus to dtd still hadn't come which was accessible, or had a driver who knew how to use the lift or the tie downs, or that had room for him, etc (we had no problems the rest of the week), at this point it was hitting 11:30pm or so. Anyway another bus pulled up, once again with no lift and I got on the bus and refused to get out of the stairwell until the driver did something for us. Of course the bus full of people got really ticked really quickly, but my dad has alot of health problems and when he's in his chair too long he starts to feel a great deal of pain, so I just didn't care. He needed to get back to the hotel. So after my showdown with the busdriver, a manager type person appeared from nowhere at the ttc and asked what was going. My mom explained the problem, she asked me to get off the bus, which I did reluctantly and within 2 mins a bus pulled up with 'vip' on it. Asked for us by our names and let us on the bus and only us, none of the other people waiting at the ttc to go to dtd. They had goodie bags on the bus for all 6 of us with free disney thirts and other fun stuff and took us directly to the hotel, plus a phone # for my dad to call. For the rest of the week if he ever had to wait thru more than 2 buses he was to call that # and a vip would be there for him to take him directly where he needed to go!

Last October we checked into the Contemporary for 1 night before moving over to the BWV. When booking the standard view garden wing room, I was chatting with the CM and we talked about how it was going to be my 10th anniversary and that we had also come to WDW for our honeymoon, but I thought nothing of it, the only reason I mentioned it was because "Conan" had asked in passing if we were celebrating anything special. I had actually talked more about my daughter's 3rd birthday that we were celebrating that week.
Come October we check into the Contemporary at 10 am.
The CM checking me in asks what side I want, thinking he meant North or South wing I said I didn't care, he said Ok I'll put you facing MK. I said great, thinking he meant the wing closest to MK. He gave me the map and said just take the elevator right on up.
We had been upgraded to the tower.:bounce: We walked into the room(looking down at CM from the hallway) and I ran over to the glass doors and saw Cinderella's Castle and the GF spread out before me. I literally started crying, it was SO unexpected and so wonderful.
Later that night we sat on the balcony and watched the fireworks when there was a knock on the door..ballooons and an anniversary gift from the Contemporary staff.
Just magical.

Last month I took my two neices, ages 17 and 14 to the Yacht Club for a 2 day quick trip. I booked concierge because with two teenage girls I knew the refreshments would come in handy. We arrived around 11 am, and the room wasn't ready, but the CM's stored our bags and we went to the pool. When we returned around 2 to check our room readiness, the CM in concierge smiled and said, "Yes, I think your room is ready." We went into the room, and were absolutely stunned--they had upgraded us to the Admiral Suite, with two bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, 3 balconies, and a spectacular sunroom in the circular lighthouse on the front of the Yacht Club! When I went back to thank the CM, she smiled and said, "We can't always do that, but we love it when we can." We loved it too! What a magical two days!

I hope my October 4 wedding at WDW will be Disney Magic! Another story, I was 19 and traveling to WDW to march in the afternoon MK parade with my dance team. Very exciting, right? Well I had developed a horrible toothache on our way to Disney, and to make a long story short, I ended up having to get a root canal the morning of the parade because I had the worst pain of my life.
So after the root canal I had 2 hours to get from the dentist to the Magic Kingdom to change and rehearse. I was under the influence of novocaine and painkillers, so I wasn't at my best. My best friend on the team came with me and we took a cab to MK from the dentist. He dropped us off at the TTC and we took the monorail to the MK. BIG surprise-we were asked to be co-pilots of the monorail! I was so thrilled and I didn't even know that they had this. We even got the co-pilot's license.
Things got even better-I was escorted "backstage" and I felt like a star. We changed, rehearsed and when the music came on and we were marching (I mean dancing) and then down Mainstreet-it was one of the best feelings I have EVER experienced. It felt soooo magical.;) It was the most magical time I've had at the MK.
-then again, it could of been the painkillers talking! LOL

Make a note of the names of the CM's who provide magical service. If you get a follow-up survey, you can refer to the CM by name. If you do not receive a survey, you can email guest services to recognize the people who make your trip special. What a nice way to express your appreciation!

Our latest magical moment is small but still special. It was a suited manager in the BC Gift Shop who asked my daughter about her pin collection then proceeded to gift her with a very special pin from 'his' collection.

ON our trip this summer, we left ASMU on the first bus to catch EE at Animal Kingdom, thinking we would get in the Safari before it got real hot. We were at the gate waiting on opening when a CM came up and asked us (myself, dh and 13 yo ds) what we planned to do first. I wasn't really paying a lot of attention until we started talking. Then I realized he worked at TTBAB. He asked if we would like to go to Bug first. That we would get a private showing before the park opened. Of course we said yes. 15 minutes before opening he let us through and took us straight to bug and then showed us a short cut to the safari. We not only got a private showing of bug, but were the first on the safari ride that morning as well. We were really surprised and certainly enjoyed it all.

In Oct. 2002 we were at the MK. My dd (then 7) had gotten her ears pierced over the summer and that morning had just changed into her first pair of "non trainers" that we had purchased the night before- they were little minnie heads w/ pink stones in them. They came in a three pack w/ two other earrings as well and were about $35-$40 for the set.
On Dumbo, her little brother (age 5) was all excited and jumping about in the seatbelt but caught his sleeve on her earring and ripped it right out of her head. Blood, tears, shouting- you name it. The poor child was so upset she couldnt stop crying. Finally, I told her we'd go find some new earrings that she could wear if I could stop the bleeding. We stopped the bleeding but she still couldnt stop crying. We went into Snow Whites Diamond mine (the store there next to Snow Whites ride) and described the earrings to the girl behind the counter. Well, she didnt have them but she took my daughter by the hand and took her to the little store behind the castle- I forget the name- tinkerbells treasures maybe? Anyway, they did have the earring set and the clerk (the one from the diamond mine) took the set down and gave them to her and told her all she had to do in return was stop crying. She then told the clerk at the new store to "make the magic or use her account" to pay for them. The new clerk just smiled and told my daughter that if she'd be happy again, the earrings were hers no strings attached. Finally my daughter managed a feeble grin and everyone clapped and cheered. It was really magical. I did write a letter to Disney about the two clerks in both stores and how they made some magic happen for us.

You guys have the best stories!! Reading about the wonderful experiences that you have had actually made me want to cry. So often you hear about what went wrong, bad food, lousy weather, rude employees, reservation mix ups and cranky supervisors who don't give a darn about you or your family's vacation. These stories give me hope!
We will be stayin at CSR in October and I so want this to be a good vacation for by family. I will keep my fingers crossed that we get a taste of the Magic too!

When we checked into the Poly this past May the CM wished the 3 of us a Happy Birthday. When I told her that our birthdays were a couple of months ago she said that it was really for missing our B-Days and wanted to wish us a belated one. Huh? So we go to our room and a little while later a knock on the door and someone calls out room service. I didn't order room service I say and the CM says it is from the GM. So I open the door to balloons, birthday cake, candles, hats, blowers, and a neat B-Day card! We were so happy! I thought it was very nice that they did this as we never mention birthdays, anniversaries or anything else. Unexpected gifts are so much better then ones hinted for and we were floored. The Poly and the GM there are so nice and we can't wait to go back! :D

What wonderful stories! I, too, am almost crying reading them, especially yours Katrina1122. Last summer, we visited the World with friends and one of them used a wheel chair to get around. (She had double knee replacements and can't walk long distances or steep inclines) While it was not as serious a problem as your dad's (May he be blessed) I still experienced some of the difficulties that disabled persons encounter. I understand that at the end of a night everyone is tired and wants nothing more to get back to their beds, but some people really don't understand! We always had pleasant capable bus drivers who understood that our party of 8 was *together* and several times we got preferential treatment. It does take a small amount of time to use the life, hook up the straps, etc. but we had great drivers who really madi it easier!

2 years ago when my dh, dd & I brought my then 6yr. old dgrdd to disney she ended up getting sick. She really wanted something to eat (she had a fever) but she wanted fruit. I called down to room service to ask what fruit was on the fruit and cheese platter. Told them she couldn't have strawberrys. They assured me that since it was Jan. there were no strawberries. When it came it had a lot of strawberries. I called down and asked it we could get some fruit other than strawberries and the girl was so sorry. THey had mixed it up in the kitchen. Within 10 min. there was another platter at our door. When we got our bill at the end of our stay they had not charged us for either one.

This past April we spent my 25th birthday at the Magic Kingdom & my hubby & I had dinner at Crystal Palace for my bday dinner. Tigger is my absolute favorite - at the time I had my tigger backpack, tigger hat & tigger t-shirt on. The hostess must have noticed this.

As we were eating our dinner & had been there for quite some time, I began to wonder why we had seen everyone but Tigger. Just as I started to worry, here comes our waitress with a birthday cupcake & Tigger, too! Tigger clapped along as they all sang Happy Birthday. Then, Tigger grabbed my hand & I got to dance around the restaurant with Tigger while they did their Hip-Hip-Hooray song & dance. After that was all over Tigger came back to the table & wrote me Happy Birthday in my autograph book. It was probably the greatest birthday ever!

Last Labor day weekend my then boyfriend and I were staying in a garden suite at the Boardwalk. It also is concierge. When we checked in Rick spoke privately with a concierge named Krystal. He was planning on popping the question that night and wanted wine sent to our room. When we got back from MK soaken wet from a rain shower while on Splash Mountain there was a lovely tray with a note that the wine was in the fridge. There was also a plate with cheese/crackers and chocolate. We were never charged for the wine :) He made me wait until later in the evening while dining at Shula's to give me the ring.

We went back to Disney 6 weeks later since I got real cheap airfare. We planned on a courtyard view at WL. When we checked in the CM asked if we'd like to get moved to the GF. We had a lovely dormer room overlooking the marina and lagoon :) at a AP rate from WL  :D

When we arrived at AKL last year a great bell man named Leonard helped us get everything checked until we could get into our room. He chatted with us about why we were visiting and when we told him it was our anniversary he asked if we had anything planned. We told him we were going to V&A for our anniversary. Later in the week he saw us again and asked us if that was the big night. We happily told him yes, and let the bell services person know we would need a cab at 6:45. When we came out dressed to the 9's at 6:45 there was no cab in sight. Before we could even ask anyone about it Leonard pulls up in the AKL van. He informs us that he will be taking us to GF tonight, courtesy of the AKL as an Anniversary present. I almost started crying because it was so sweet and unexpected.

A couple of years ago, my 5-year old son and I were waiting for the monorail at the TTC. It was right after the MK had closed, so it was jammed! My son quietly waited for his ride while "flicking" his fingers. You see, my son has a mild form of Autism and is CRAZY about the monorail. Waiting amid all that stimulation was a huge burden for him at that age, but he did so beautifully.

Somehow, amid all that chaos and all the waiting riders, the monorail driver spotted him. She came out of the monorail, waded through the crowd and asked him if he would like to "drive" the monorail. We couldn't believe it! She took us to the nose of the monorail and soon we were on our way to the resorts. She even let him press the button!

At the end of the ride, she posed for pictures with him and gave him an official-looking certificate with his name on it for being an honorary monorail captain! (I was sure that Walt himself had something to do with this!)

To top it all off, my son finally started TALKING to people other than family members after this. This was quite an acomplishment for him.

I will remember this kind act forever!:D
