Have you ever visited Cape Cod?

Now, now, Norah...all that traffic pays your bills...including college!!!!!

Dh is in the hospitality business so c'mon down!
And ironically enough I worked in that restaurant business with him...and am now getting offered a job at the Chamber of COmmerce:rolleyes:

Cindy - I grew up on East 5th street. I went to O.H. Perry for elementary school, Gavin for middle school. We had a house here in Dennis that we built in the early 70's (my Mom still lives in it) that we would spend summers and weekends at. Then when I met DH we got married and built our own house here in Dennis.

Do you live close to 5th street? I was just there a couple of weeks ago at St. Bridgets for a funeral.
I have so many memories of Southie:D

Yes! I'm the next block away from St. Brigid's School and church. That's where I went to grammar school. :D

CEDMOM The B&B's are beautiful here, arn't they! I have a lot of family that leave their kids with me and they go visit the B&B's for the weekend.

Lynn,

Ever consider taking in non-related kids?;) Seriously, we love the Cape and if it weren't for a WDW trip last month and a San Diego/DL trip in December we'd be up there in Sept. Unfortunately, it's a 7 hour drive which is a little too long for a weekend.

I've been to Cape Cod four times --

Once for DH's Grandparents' 60th Wedding Anniversary
Once for DH's Grandmother's 90th Birthday and Family Reunion
Once for DH's Grandfather's Funeral
Once for DH's Grandmother's Funeral

Two happy times :D and two sad times :(

They lived in Osterville and it was simply beautiful there.

We always joke that it seemed like there was a Dunkin Donuts everywhere we looked!;)

I've lived in Mass all my life and last year was the very first time that I have been to the Cape. You live so close to the area and you don't realize how much is around to visit.

We stayed in Yarmouth and took a day trip over to Nantucket. I would go again this year but too much is going on this summer. I am hoping to make it over to Martha's Vineyard.

I can't wait to read some suggestions of some great places to stay at. Like another poster said I would prefer to go down during the midweek so there isn't much traffic. It worked out great last year doing that so you had less traffic to deal with.

I've stayed with friends in Harwichport. I just love that area! My husband's family used to vacation all the time at the Red Jacket...want to say its in or around Yarmouth? I'm not as crazy as that area, but have spent time there with them. For them Captain Parkers is a must! I love to hang in Chatham, go to the beach. There is one I can't think of the name of it, but I loved it when I was pregnant with Daniel. Huge waves, lots of sea lions. Just bouncing around and around. Its right around the crook, north of Chatham. Cannot think of the name and hubby isn't here right now to ask.

:D We are taking a weekend trip to the Cape in September with my sorority group. We rented two cottages in Sandwich. I believe the place is called Pinegrove Cottages. It will be a girls only trip so it should be fun. I've lived in CT all my life and have never been to Cape Cod.

LynnCC, I love the Dennis area! :) DH & I stayed in Dennisport back in 1998 and loved it. We stayed in Falmouth for a long weekend in 2000 and then in Eastham last September for another long weekend.

As a kid (from 0-5) my family stayed in Harwichport and a lovely hotel which still stands but now is an old folks home.

I love Cape Cod...The Wellfleet Drive In, Whale Watches, The Christmas Tree Shops(!), Cranbury Wine, Yankee Candles, Plymouth Plantation...

Making me wish I was there now...

I love the Cape, wish we lived closer to it. We live about an hour away.

Lynn, I go to the Cape one day every week because I work for our accountant who lives in East Sandwich. Usually on Wednesday or Thursday. We love "The Bee Hive" for lunch or dinner :) Have you been to this restaurant?

P.S. If you ever see Mass plates with either "TBROWN" or "JBROWN", that's us! :p

YUP!!

Growing up in Taunton, MA - (only about 30 min from the Cape), we spent many weekends there....

And I got married in Mashpee and had my wedding reception at Popponesett Inn in New Seabury....

We also go to Provincetown as much as possible... So much fun!! Much like Jenzebelle, I also dream of living there full time-- but right now I'd never be able to afford it!! And I've also moved West of Boston, so it takes me THAT much longer to get to the Cape when I do want to go!!

But it's one of my favorite places to be besides WDW - sprinkle my ashes there when I die.

We love Dennis, too. Didn't think we'd get a vacation there this year, but as it turns out, husband may be able to swing a week's vacation! Do you know of any great rentals in either Dennis or Chatham? Is there a rental agency/real estate that you would recommend. I know it's last minute, but you never know..... Thanks!

kasar,

3 years ago, my parents, god parents, and all my cousins along with DH , DS and I rented cottages STEPS away from W. Dennis beach, right across the stree from the West Dennis Yacht Club. We LOVED the location. There were 6 cottages all in a row. I cannot remember the name of the realtor we used, but will try and find it later tonight. If not, you could probably call the Chamber of Commerce, and ask them.

Katerbell...when was your wedding???...DH was the chef at the Poppy in New seabury until the owner sold it a few years ago...he still works for the owner managing his other properties on the cape.

We live "just around the corner" from the Cape in RI and visit often but usually not during the summer. Just this past Mother's Day we drove out to P-town and then had dinner in Orleans at the Lobster Claw.

When I was 15 I spent the good part of that summer camping at Shawmee Crowell with a family I was babysitting for. We'd take their SUV (that weren't too common in the mid-70's) out on the dunes in either P-town or Sandwich and spend the day on the beach.

VALD1977 - when you go down to Sandwich with your girlfriends, go to the Daniel Webster Inn for a fancy dinner. It is a wonderful restaurant (a little pricy) and it will be a short drive from your cottage.

:D Thanks, Harambe. We want to do a fancy dinner one night so I will definitely write that name down.

Some suggestions for the Cape!!!! Try Amari in Sandwich on 6a. Fabulous Italian food. Also the Beehive Tavern also 6a. Great atmosphere. Be sure to walk the Sandwich Boardwalk. Mashpee commons in Mashpee. Has lots of great stores. great Pizza at sweet Tomatoes!!! 2 locations Sandwich and Osterville. Suggestions for those of us who live here. One bit of advice. I have been using Peopod grocers instead of fighting the food store crowds. It is a life saver....They deliver to your door and quality is superb, think Bread and Circus veggies..It has made everything in the way of crowds bearable!!!!

I have to run out, but I wanted to answer everyones questions in your posts. If you want to look at www.capecodonline.com you m... I shouldn't complain...it's just that drive.

We are leaving for the Cape on 6/29! We always go to Eastham and stay at the Four Point Sheraton. We love Nauset Light Beach and it is a short ride to Truro and Provincetown. We will be eating at Arnold's as it is our fav for seafood! Wellfleet Lobster Pot runs a close second to Arnold's for seafood. You really can't go wrong at either restaurant!

Hi!

DH and I lived there for about 5 years and we have two little (well, not so little anymore....13 and 14 ;) ) Cape Codders. DH is from there and some of his family lives in Chatham. We lived in Harwich.

We usually head up for Thanksgiving and special events....wedding a few Septembers ago, surprise anniversery last November, etc. Seems like the crowds tend to stay longer and longer.

I would give anything to move back, but the price of real estate is so high. :( :( :( :( We REALLY miss it......:(
