Have you ever texted/rang a wrong number?'

My DH was sending out pics of DS #3 when he was born. Well we had a friends old cell number and sent it to that. We got a text back saying "You have the wrong number, but Congrats!" :lmao:

I never answer the phone when it's a number I don't recognize...if it's that important they'd leave me a voicemail.

Anyway, one time I kept getting voicemails from a liposuction clinic asking "Oprah" (or Orpah or something like that...I could never quite understand the name they used because I'm a little bit hard of hearing) when she'd like to reschedule her appointment. :scratchin I ignored the calls and eventually they stopped.

My dad was dog sitting my dog when I was on vacation one time. As a joke, he sent me a text that said "I am holding your dog for ransom, you can have him back for $20" - only he sent the text to the wrong number. A woman called him right back and said, "I don't know who's dog you think you have, but it isn't mine, mine is laying right next to me". My dad said "It was only a joke" and hung up real fast :rotfl2:.

I got a wrong txt asking me what I wanted for dinner, I was driving and by the time I stopped we'll dinner had passed but another txt that said "since u didn't reply I'll get Mexican" I figure that person would realize it was the wrong number when they get home and their significant other mentioned something about not getting a txt.

We'll the next day I get another msg "how does Chinese sound"
Sooo me being in rare form replied "take out again? How about we wip up something yummy tonight"
So I get a reply "sorry I'm too tired too cook"
So I reply "ok no worries I understand, Chinese sounds great!"

That same night I get another msg "who is this?" Lol I replayed I'm _____ who are you?

Never herd from him/her again

We get these all the time. We did get a wrong email from the bank stating we had gone into over draft. I thought what? My DH called and they asked him if he wrote a check for 17,000 dollars. Um, no! Sorry we hit one wrong key for the email....:rotfl2:

I called a friend of mine once while I was at work in my teenage years at the grocery store. My girlfriend answered! :scared1:

Two problems with that. First, my girlfriend was suppose to be at work and second, obviously why was she answering the phone at my friends house? :furious:

Oh, My girlfriend and I both worked at the same grocery store (we hadn't seen each other there at work that evening yet) and the store's number was 1 digit off from my friend's number. I ended up calling back through to the store from the back room phone where she answered the phone up in the front end.

Another really bad and messed up phone dial. I hit a deer on the way into work. Got my truck back to my house and took my wife's car to work. From there I was calling the insurance company and had the phone on speaker. My office was in a quiet area of the plant and I had quite a few of the engineering staff with offices around me. The phone dialed and I got through to some 1-800 sex talk number blaring from the speaker phone! Everyone heard it! I messed up and flipped the last 2 digits of the number. That was quite embarrassing.

Just this week, my mom who is 87 got about 6 or 7 texts over 20 minutes. They were about someones husband and she thought she was texting her kids-"dad is in the hospital" "had a heart attack" "doing OK but not great" "has to stay here" etc. My poor mom was at a loss, she doesn't text much . I called the lady and dropped into her phone box. I left a message and texted her back too. She must have not read the reply right away because we got another message or two and then a WHOOPS, SORRY. I am sure she was thinking, why isn't my kid calling me or texting me back?????? My poor mom was rattled. We said a prayer for the poor man. Hope he is doing OK.

My middle aged father's number used to be the one a girl would give out when she went out.

He got a lot of interesting texts from men. Some of the most interesting pick up lines.

We found out because a friend of mine asked a girl at a bar for her number...and he got my dad's number. He texted my dad asking him to dinner and thought it was awesome when "the girl" responded. What a surprise when his date was my dad!

Funny.. my friend just today asked, "how do you reverse look up a number?" ... seems someone sent his WIFE an *ahem* photo text :scared1:. First time using hashtag in a Dis post... #Mustnttouchit

years ago we were one digit off from a pizza place. used to get tons of calls looking for them. Well once one very determined guy kept calling, and then left a voice mail to order his pizza. Even though our answering message very plainly said "You have reached the (blank) family"

The voicemail was as follows
"yeah i'm not sure why I need to leave a voicemail for a pizza but here goes. I would like a large pepperoni pizza and a small cheese....." then left his name....

unfortunately we had been on vacation so we wondered if he had gotten that pizza.

I sent a wrong text once to a co-worker who had changed her number asking if she would pick up a shift for me, and got a reply from the person I texted saying I had the wrong number. Whoops! I work with another girl with the same name and spelling as mine, so I have gotten a few texts from co-workers that thought they were texting her but sent it to me by mistake.

I occasionally get wrong number calls on my cell, but our landline is the worst. When we first got it, we chose a number that would be super easy to remember. Unfortunately, it was also the previous number of a man who didn't like to pay his bills, so for the first several years of having it, we used to get a TON of phone calls from collection agencies looking for him!

I did have one experience that upset me when I got several calls from the same number in the middle of the night when I was home alone while my DH was away for work. The first time, I said, you have the wrong number and hung up. The second time I was a little less polite, but told them they had called my number by mistake again. The third time I said, "I have to work in the morning, please stop calling me!" and the guy on the other end said something to the effect of, "Sorry, I can't help it, your voice is so sexy." UGH!!! I was so creeped out, I hung up and had a hard time going back to sleep. Thankfully, he didn't call back.

I usually don't call back when wrong numbers leave messages for me, but once a man called my cell phone and left a message that sorry he was late, but he would be there to fix the roof soon! So I did call him back to let him know he had the wrong number so he wouldn't have a customer angry at him for being late and not calling to let them know. He was very appreciative. :goodvibes

I've received several "wrong number" calls over the years. The latest was in February of this year.

my friend still has my old number in her phone, and last time we were getting together she accidentally texted it. she sent a picture of her in her new year's dress to get my opinion... needless to say the girlfriend of the guy with my old number was not too happy. the girlfriend called my friend asking how she got his number and how long had she been talking to him...

my friend (bless her heart) said she would delete the number right away, only she forgot. she sent a text the next day complaining about her toilet being backed up. this time the guy responded saying he'd be happy to come over and help if she was wearing the dress. :crazy2:

ay yi yi.

My son gets calls at least once or twice a month asking for Mark. It's random numbers wanting this mans services for repairing their car. It's been going on for over a year.
