Have you ever stayed on the ship when in port?

I'm thinking about staying on the ship when it gets to Nassau on our 4 day cruise. I have been to Nassau many times and one day at sea isn't enough for me. Are there things to do onboard when the ship is in port?
Is the spa open?
How about Palo?
