Have you ever shown up early for an ADR and gotten seated?

My friends and I,both parties of 5,have ADR's at Ohana for dinner on the same night. The problem is that our ADR's are for 5:10pm and 6:35pm. I am not expecting us to sit together, but was wondering if the later ADR checked in with the earlier one, what is the chance that we could eat/be seated around the same time frame (within an hour)? Has anyone ever shown up an hour or more before an ADR and gotten seated? Or were you turned away and told to come back at your ADR time?

Thanks for the input.:goodvibes

We have arrived early and been seated before. It probably depends on what time of year you are visiting. We visited in May and this happened just a few times over the last 5 years. We are a party of 2.

We just got back and we had DDP for the first time on this trip. We got to our ressie early every time (both DH and I are OCD about being somewhere on time) and each time we were seated within 10 mins of checking in. We got to the Crystal Palace 50 mins early and they sat us anyway.
Like OP said, I think it depends on the time of year and probably the location as well.

It really depends on the location. We tried at CRT once and at LeCellier once and were turned down both times. They wouldn't even let us check in and see. That said though, these are both high demand locations. I wouldn't hesitate trying at most other locations.

It depends. We ahve been seated 45 minutes early. We have also been told at a couple that we can't check in untill 30 minutes before. I guess it depends on how busy they are. Its worth a try...

Hard to say. You might be best served by both parties arriving at 'Ohana at the first seating time (5:10) and asking if there is any way you can both be seated together. The issue may very well be not only putting the two very different times together but in finding a table that will accomodate all 10 of you. But, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Worst case scenario would be that you can't eat together.

Ohana's is a pretty crazy place, so I'm not sure about that one. But, we have been to Chef Mickey's and Sci-Fi Dine in about 20 minutes early to both, and the seated us within 10 minutes. I just mentioned at the podium that we knew we were a little early, but we were just "in that area." CM's are always very accommodating and will tell you the truth if you still need to wait (due to business).

That said, I honestly don't think they pay any attention to your ADR time, they just bump you up when you check in. I could be wrong, it just seems that way as sometimes we wait 40 minutes, but sometimes it's walk right in. And other than the two times mentioned above, we are always there 5 minutes before ADR.

Thanks for all the great replies everyone.:goodvibes

Like I said I never expected us to be seated together at a table of 10; that would be just plain nuts to ask for at Ohana.:upsidedow I am just hoping we could both eat our meals around the same time so the first group isn't sitting waiting for the other to be done for 1 1/2 hrs.:rolleyes1 Doesn't hurt to try.:) If they don't seat our second group until later, then we'll just ride around on the monorail a few times.
