Have you ever shopped at Old Navy for cloths?

Wow!!! It is great for the ego. I don't know who is doing the sizing for their cloths but they are so off. A few months ago I bought a pair of capri pants. Size 6 was to big, I couldn't get them tied tight enough at the waist, so I ended up with a size 4. A little tight in the butt but I figured I will just work out a little more. So this weekend I went shopping and found some cute PJ bottoms on clearence. I fit into a size XS. Not possible in the real world. Their sizes are off a bit but for someone who has been trying to lose weight, it is a real ego booster.

Maybe it's not their sizing that's off--maybe you've just lost more inches than you think you have! :sunny:

I haven't tried any pants on at Old Navy but I did go in for a couple of shirts the other day. I hadn't been there in long time and I must say I was a little shocked by the selection--there were some really cute tops but most of them were super skimpy! I am not ready to bare my midriff yet, LOL! I ended up getting a couple of cute basic T-shirts, but I had to buy size XL (and I'm never an XL on top, generally Medium or Large--my weight is all in my thighs) so that they wouldn't be too tight or short! So my trip to Old Navy wasn't quite as ego-stroking as yours was! :)

I love Old Navy...their prices are excellent, and clothes are great!! Good selection. I don't know if their clothes are bigger for the sizes, or we are used to the "junior" cut of everything at the regular stores. (walmart, target) I also get my clothes at the GAP and they fit really nice, there, too!
Call it ego boost, call it a great fit, either way, you did great, and you obviously feel wonderful!!
Congratulations!!:hyper:

Yep, you are correct! Old Navy's bottoms are a little bigger than the norm. Their tops however are not. A size 10 at Old Navy is a little big on me, but I have to buy a large top there. I normally wear a size medium top everywhere else. I love shopping there though. It is cool when you and your 15 y/o son can shop at the same store. :D

ginger -- you are just an itty-bitty tiny thing now aren't you?? :)::yes::

I find ON to be very inconsistent. I have one pair of boot-cut size 8 jeans that are forever tight. I have another hip hugger drawstring waist type size 8 that fit great and end up loose by the end of the day. I can wear a medium or small top there, just depending. I think they are cut more for the teeny-boppers and my bod doesn't fit in that body-type, if it every did!

One friend told me "go to ON -- the sizes are generous" and evansmom swears that ON runs small! I think it depends on how shapely one is? but we all know that evansmom has NO butt!

I'm betting that you are just needing to accept you are tiny now! Cyber high five!

I can squeeze my fat bottom into the sz. 16 old navy jeans, lol, can't do that most places. Another generous sizer is Liz Claiborne. As for the Gap being comfy - the Gap, Old Navy and Banana republic are the same company.

::yes:: And I personally find that as I move up the money ladder within those three, I can wear smaller sizes. Example with jeans: ON = 10, Gap = 8, BR = 8 and occasionally 6 (!!). :)

I didn't know that ON, Gap and BR are all owned by the same company.....

that's interesting......pirate:

I don't know if I agree. I wear a 4 at ON and Gap, but I also picked up a pair of 4 pants at REI this weekend.... Although, whenever I sew my own clothes I have to make like a size 10. SIGH.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks their sizes run big. I typically have to get a size 2! At the Gap I have been buying 4's.

Doesn't ON also have 1's and 0's?

YES!

I have experienced this this very week................
And it was good!
lol IN a size 8 at Old navy and feeling good
lol
