Have you ever said anything to a guest who was behaving rudely?

I am constantly reading on the Internet about how rude and uncourteous people have gotten. I don’t know why I seem immune from it. Maybe I don’t look out enough for it? Maybe I am the rude one? lol. I don’t know.

I haven't really noticed it that much unless I'm someplace like Disneyland where there are a LOT of people. It seems the more people there are, the more the rude ones feel entitled to their rudeness. The days DL was crowded, there seemed to be a higher percentage of rude people than on the days it wasn't crowded. Whether that was because the crowds set them off, or because having to wait was triggering their sense of entitlement, I don't know.

Yes, people seem very rude. The last time I was there, we waited in front of small world with a lot of kids and elderly people in wheelchairs to watch the fireworks. We were in the front row. A minute before it started, a group of college aged kids snuck in right in front of everyone, proceeded to stand and get out their cameras to video fireworks (that they will probably never watch again). People around them tried to ask them nicely to sit and put their cameras down, but they ignored everyone. So rude. I was closest to them and could have said something but I did not want them to curse and say something nasty with so many kids around.

OMG…that’s hilarious! Wish I could think that fast! It’s just so sad that our world has come to this where people no longer have respect or even awareness about what’s going on around them. I’m a strong follower of Mad-eye Moody who taught “situational awareness” or vigilance…I wanna know what’s going on around me at all times. Yep, he was right…I AM WEIRD!

Hey, I'm right there with you, sistah! If being aware, respectful, and a HP fan is weird, then I'm glad to be in the weird group!

I used my teacher voice a few times during our last trip. When kids came zipping around us at top speed I found myself saying, "Walk please!" I already know from working at a school that some kids don't care about rules and some parents are too busy to enforce them.

I've had a couple encounters....

Once, a kid purposely came over to my MIL and pushed his light saber into her stomach. I just said "hey...don't do that to people" in a firm voice and he ran off.

Last time we were at Disneyland, we were eating and these kids kept blowing their bubble guns right by our table so we told them to stop. They did...but then came back over a little bit later and did it again so we had to raise our voices that time and then the grandpa noticed it and yelled at them to knock it off. They stopped after that.

Then I have an incident at WDW. We were in line for Rise of the Resistance. It had been down and had come back up so the LL line was pretty long. The group ahead of us had an adult man with a service animal. While waiting, the man sat on the ground and sort of had his head down. I don't know what service his dog provides or what was going on....and it's not my business. I figured he must be having a tough time of things but it wasn't bothering anyone around. The people ahead of his group had moved forward just a couple feet. This lady behind him was like "can you move up?" I pointed to the guy on the ground ahead of us because I assumed she just couldn't see him. She was like "what is he doing??" in a rude tone. I said I didn't know and that he was with his service animal. She got snippy and was like "he shouldn't be allowed to do that here. Can you just go around him??"

I mean, if the line had been actually moving at a decent pace, I definitely would have asked his group if we could go around. But the line was still stopped. It wasn't necessary to move forward 2 feet. I basically told her that and she seemed angry about it. I said "if you want to go around us, you can. It will get you on the ride a full 2 seconds faster so have at it." Or something along those lines. She seemed annoyed and just stood there quietly after that.

Short answer: yes, although we have spoken up only a handful times relative to the amount of behavior we have encountered that warranted speaking up. Hard to describe what exactly "meets the bar" for warranting us speaking up, but over the years I think there have been 3-4 times where we've had to say something.
