In this case, early bird gets the worm. We've tried for years to be there early enough to throw the pixie dust...but road tripping it from cocoa beach in the morning always seems to slow us up too much. So the week of the Disney Marathon, we were staying at the Contemporary. You all remember that weekend, right....It was Snowing in central Florida....yeah, so anyway, we were not running in the marathon the morning of the 9th and were literally the 2nd family there that morning (7:20am). 28 degrees and windy...but we got selected...

My kids loved it...worth suffering through the cold weather.

We were selected as Magic Kingdom Family of the Day the last day we were in the park before we had to go home back in 2006. We got to the gates about 7:40AM. We had a great time.

We helped open Magic Kingdom on October 18, 2009. It was my kids first trip and it was also our first morning at the parks. What a fantastic way to start our trip!

This is my biggest Disney Dream (well, that.... or Grand Marshalls in the MK parade.... or a night in the castle.....) My daughter and I are going in December. Our chances of being chosen are much lower with just the 2 of us, but I plan on arriving super early a couple of days just go give it a try..... It worked for us at DHS on our trip last year! :wizard:

We opened Magic Kingdom on 6/6/09! Small picture is my avatar. One of the best days of our lives! If this is something you want to try to get picked for... BE VERY EARLY, is my best advice! :)

So fess up....... just how early WERE you?????

And I still think they only choose a traditional family (mom, dad, one or more kids) for this, so my odds aren't great. Go with my daughter, wrong size group. Go with the rest of the family and we'd never get there early enough...... Guess I'll have to keep dreaming!

Congrats to those of you who have had this happen. What an awesome experience!

Some hope maybe for you two... the MK Rope Drop I was at in February was a Mom and Daughter.

Good luck!

:cheer2: That DOES give me hope!!! Thanks for posting that! We'll probably give it a go a couple of mornings. What's the worst that can happen? We get to hang out outside the Magic Kingdom for a bit????

So for those of you who went really early, did you take the monorail? Or maybe a taxi to the Contemporary then walk over?

Oh this would be such a neat experience! We are going this June and celebrating DH & DD's birthdays, our wedding anniversary, and my youngest DS's first time to the World. Would be neat to be picked and top off the celebrations!

For those getting there around 7:30ish, was that for a 9am opening? Or for EMH at 8am? I just do not see being able to get my gang going that early, but it sounds soooo cool to do!
