Have You Ever "LOst" Your Car at WDW?

We tend to walk from the parking lots to the parks so we avoid the tram. Then when we are half way there we wonder what aisle we are in. So going back can be a little interesting at times but we are usually within a row of our car.

We arrived at MK fairly early one morning and parked relatively close to the ticket/transporation center. Instead of heading to the tram, the parking attendants told us to just walk over to the TTC. Since we didn't go to the trams, we didn't see or make note of where we parked. You know how the tram operator always drills it into your head? "remember, Pluto 13, you're parked in Pluto 13, PLUTO 13, YOU'RE IN PLUTO 13, DON'T FORGET!!!!!" You know the drill. Well, we didn't get that drill. When we left the park, we walked around for 30 minutes looking for the car. I (gently) stood on top of pick-up truck beds trying to spot the car. No luck. My wife had to flag down security to drive up and down the rows looking for the car.

Just once - two years ago - but it was a bit in reverse. We drove to Epcot in the AM. We came back to our motel in the afternoon due to the hot July sun. We went swimming, showered, etc.
After freshening up, we drove to MGM. After Fantasmic we took the bus back to POR. But - yes, you guessed it - we had left our car at MGM.

This is something I would do. But I have a question or two: how many in your party? And how much had you all been drinking!???! ;) ;) ;)

Yes and it is hilarious--looking back. I was 5 or 6 and had a rental car, which was unusual, because my parents ALWAYS drove!

Anyway, MK was open very late during those days--I remember the shops being open even later, somewhere around 2 am or something like that. We were tired, of course, and riding around on the tram, looking for the car. We had a red mustang, and apparently so did a LOT of other folks that year-- :car: :rotfl2:
My mom couldn't stop from laughing, which just made my Dad absolutely furious! He let everyone know, too. To make a long story short, after getting on and off the tram several times wandering the lots, my parents told the CM we were lost. He, too, asked what time we arrived that day and that would tell him where we were. Because my Dad is one of those who take FOREVER to get out of the house, we never arrived anywhere anytime before 2pm--good thing the MK was open late for us! The CM knew my Dad was HOT  , but couldn't help snickering either, as he said, "Oh, sir...you're in the Dumbo lot." Sure enough--there it was, the red mustang, all by itself! :dumbo:

The same trip, we went to Daytona with the same mustang. My Dad was taking movies as the tide was coming in. My mom kept telling him he'd better move it back, but he didn't pay attention. Yep, you guessed it--we nearly lost the car! Lucky for us, a group of college football players saw us in trouble and literally lifted the car up and out of the surf. The water wasn't coming in the car--but I was a bit scared in the backseat as we "hovered" back to safety!!!

Once we lost the car in the MGM lot. Then once we found it, about 15 minutes later, we'd lost each other, all running around between cars and rows. That's when I learned-on a sunny day, those parking lots get HOT!

I never lost my car, but I lost my wife at Epcot one year.

I probably would have spent more time looking for my car!

:rotfl: Are you sure she didn't just run away? Did you ever find her? :magnify:

Last winter my friend and I went to the World and we were so worried about losing our rental car that every day when we parked, one of us would send a text message to the other's phone with the parking lot location. Worked like a charm!

Thankfully, I'm staying on the property this trip and won't have to worry about a car!
:cool1:

I use to laugh at people when they would lose their car in parking lots of Walmart or the mall, but that was until I lost my rental van in MGM parking lot, and just right after I parked it. I had left my wallet in the van and once at the gate had to go back to find our tickets. But of course I could not remember where I parked. Do you know how many blue mini vans in the parking lot at WDW????? I know it is a bunch!!!!!!!! This year I am going to take a toliet plunger with me..... :rotfl: Do you think I can get it through airport security??? :rotfl2:

We actually just did this less than a month ago at Giants Stadium when we saw Bon Jovi! I said to my boyfriend, "remember where we're parked!" and he replied, "I do, don't worry about it!" YEAH RIGHT! We even had a search party going (a few girls who I bumped in to who were keeping an eye out for my car as they looked for theirs as well!), and we spoke with security. The funny thing is, we left early to avoid the crowds, and by the time we found my car (after about 6 of us looking, talking with security, checking three of the four sections, trying to find out if Giant Stadium could be held legally responsible for my car I thought was stolen, and in total about 45min of searching madly) the concert had ended so we didn't even end up beating the crowd! :rotfl: I definitely learned my lesson that time - never trust your boyfriend to remember where he parked your car!

I'm thinking of having a windshield sun shield made up that says "Hey, Barry, You're Parked Here!" so i can put it in the front screen while we're in the park, and i know what i'm looking for on return :teeth:
