Have you ever known someone for a long time

We always just called them a filled donut. I did not know they had another name. It must be a regional thing, like the sub vs. hoagie (and many other names). We didn’t really eat donuts when I lived up north, so for all I know they might have called them cream sticks. Eclairs always had a Bavarian cream filling, not a white cream filling, so we wouldn’t have confused the two.

I've never heard anything but round pastries called doughnuts. This is one thing that makes the DIS so interesting. You learn a lot about different regions in the US & other countries.

At our Publix, there is always one in the box of assorted donuts (4 total in the box). That is the only way I have seen them, since I don’t have a donut shop close to me. I haven’t bought the assorted box because if they are on sale, the Apple fritters usually are as well, and I like the fritters better than donuts.

I know what you mean. Our Publix does that too. I've also seen fritters in the assorted "doughnut" boxes. I think that's just their lazy way of labeling things.

Sorry, have not heard of creme sticks or cream sticks either.
Also have not heard of Long Johns as food.
Your picture shows a bunch of eclairs.

Eclairs & long johns are different.

ETA: @sksjasams explained the difference well.

Moderates feel free to lock this thread, these people have lost there minds :rotfl:

I did a little digging, and it is a regional thing. What you call a cream stick can be called a Long John or a maple or chocolate bar, depending on the frosting, or even as an eclair, although technically a true eclair has different pastry dough and filling. It all depends on where you live. I am exhausted now and will need some sleep to recover:)
