Have you ever had your WDW room Downgraded?

Downgraded at the same resort is one thing as long as I am given a refund of the difference. However downgraded to a different level of resort would probably end my Disney days for a long time.

Hotels also have plumbing problems and similar that pull rooms from inventory by surprise.
So true. I had a toilet that just kept over flowing from previous guests. It was awful. But they made it better. Switched us to a different room.

Sometimes, even if it is a downgrade, it is an upgrade. (Obviously, if I had to go from a preferred to a standard for a toilet, I would want a refund of the rate difference, but, I do like working plumbing.)

We have only ever had 1 issue and that was a month or so before our trip
We had booked the 3 bedroom Ada villa at okw. I'm guessing something happened and they needed to pull the room because they called asking if we really needed the Ada room which we did. They swapped us over to a 2 bedroom and 1 bedroom At ssr

Yes. This past Feb DH and I booked Business Class King room at CSR. I did this not only because I wanted the lounge access but because I knew that we would be guaranteed of a room NOT looking at a parking lot
We arrived and we got a King room but not in the Business Class building. And it looked out on the parking lot.
They overbooked so they stuck us in the building next door. They did not inform me of it at check in and I didn't realize it until we walked to the room and had to pass the BC building.
I went back and was told that was the only room they had. CM told me they had keyed us access to the BC lounge so we still had the same amenities we booked. I mean, they hadn't even told us we had that access till I asked and we didn't even know where the BC lounge was at this point.
It was late so I just went to the room to sleep and went to deal with it in the morning. They still were unable to move us and since we did get lounge access they didn't refund any money. We lost out on the view, which is what we wanted more.
We were there 3 nights with 1 night at Poly. We just gave up on CSR and checked out a day early and in to Poly a day early.
I don't see us ever trying CSR again. Left a bad taste in my mouth

I'm sorry this happened -- and a bit angry that they did not even tell you that you were going to be in the non-BC building. Probably a group from a convention made a stink and took your room.

I got a room "Upgrade", but it was a downgrade really for Mom and I at POP back in 2012. We wanted a Standard two queens room (made requests about) and got a Pool View King. It was High Summer (Week after July 4th) and they couldn't change us because of my displeasure. It's why I so want two beds this time and am even using Touring Plans room request service to try and get it.

They know that they cannot give a king bed room to a family (or group) of 4 people, so they gave it to you two. My children really prefer the Alligator Bayou rooms at POR, but sometimes Disney wants to reserve them for families of five. By simply asking nicely, however, we've been able to get them.

Just curious if this happens much. Someone said they got downgraded in their room. They were informed at check-in. Disney refunded them the difference in price and offered to move them the next day, but that too is an extra hassle with time and effort. Has this happened to you? You see pixie dust upgrades mentioned all the time, but I haven't seen much discussion on this side of the coin.

If you were downgraded, what would you expect? If I decide to pay more for a room for a certain view or location I don't think I'd be a happy camper if I was downgraded. Many people choose upgrades due to mobility issues, etc. Having to unpack, settle in then pack back up the next morning to get moved also isn't how I want to spend my precious time on vacation. I'm not a complainer so this would be a difficult situation for me. (I'm sure it doesn't happen too often, but hotels overbook like airlines expecting a certain amount of attrition).

Thoughts?
Just got a call as we were due to check into the Contemporary and we booked a Tower Lake View. They said our room was not available and said our only choice was to go to a garden view or Caribbean Beach.
