Have you ever Had your Make-up done at a Make-up counter?

I had mine done at Estee Lauder, and the clerk was wonderful. The make-up looked lovely, and she gave me a sheet (with the outline of a face with lips, eyes, etc) and listed what went where.

I also had make-up done by a pro for a portrait. It was FAR more make-up than I ever use, and looked AWFUL (very masklike) in the mirror. But the portrait was beautiful.

BTW, I always use eye shadow in a purple shade, as I have green eyes and it makes them even more intense.

You are not too old to wear a lip liner. I wear lip liners that match my lipstick not something much darker than my lipstick. I have had 3 or 4 make overs at Clinique and Estee Lauder and mine have all been good experiences.

I had the Elizabeth Arden salesgirl pick out for me Foundation, Blush and Lipstick. All the salesgirls were sooo young. She suggested lip liner for me which looked awful - Isn't a 47 year old too old for lip liner?

In the proper color, not at all. Your lip liner should be at most one shade darker than your lipstick.

I have to agree with everyone else. The point of lipliner is to keep your lipstick from bleeding into the fine lines that develop on our lips as we age. The natural colegen (sorry, can't spell) deteriorates and creates these lines.

As far as MAC goes, I don't believe it looks goulish. I am paler than NC15 (their lightest color) with very dark auburn hair. Almost all I wear is MAC and it always looks nice and natural... never goulish. Granted, I do know my skin and what colors work for me.

And another vote for Spice liner. LOVE IT!!!

UGH I had my makeup done at a sales counter once. ONCE. I looked like a woman of shall we say...questionable morals. I know it's all a matter of who actually does the job but I'm too chicken to do it again.

The same thing happened to me. I just wanted to get home and wash my face before any of my friends saw me. I did not want them to think I was moonlighting.
