This one is for the women only, pop dady, papa duce and money boy need not answer! :goodvibes

I have been thinking about getting them done, but it seems like the type of thing once you start you have to keep up. Not sure what method I should use either.

Where did you get them done at? The hairdreser, spa or other place.

Where you happy with the result? I am a little fearful they will take too much and make my face look funny.

How much does it cost and how often do you need to "touch them up." Were you happy with the final look? Was it better then just plucking them at home. I think I need a little help getting the grooming right. I have noticed how nice a clean brow can really make a women look.

One last question. Does it hurt? :teeth:

I've had them waxed many times. I don't have to wax them as often as I've had to pluck them in the past. I've gone to hairdressers and nail salons to have them done - they do an equally good job IMO.

I recommend trying to tell them what you want done. Tell them not to take too much off - have them do a little at a time each sitting until you're completely comfortable with how they look. I've had to touch them up about every other month or so unless there's something special going on that I feel I need to go the extra mile for. The average here in NJ is between $10-$12.

I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt, but it's a quick kind of pain, if you know what I mean. Also, I've found that tea tree oil or a good moisturizer helps afterward - either they have it in the shop I use or I have my own in my purse. It helps with the redness and minimizes the pain a little bit. Really, you get used to it after a while.

I know a woman who waxes EVERYTHING - bikini, legs, underarms, eyebrows. I can't even imagine how much that hurts! And she spends over $400 a month on it all :faint:

Well, if you feel like driving to Okemos, Camilla at Douglas J is the best. :teeth:

Seriously, you have to find someone good. Don't let them take too much.

I would go to a place where you actually go in a room and lay on a facial table while they sit at the head of the table and look through their mirror.

They will wax them and then probably touch up with good tweezers when they are done.

Good luck. If they know what they are doing, your eyebrows will look very nice.

Don't let them give you too much of an arch. The trend now is more of a straight line that tapers slightly.

If DH was still teaching at MSU I just might.

We are staying at SSR in Jan and I was thinking about getting a facial. I wonder if I should do it then. Of course if I love it I can't go back there for a touch up! :rotfl:

I always admired the high arch, but I don't think mine will "go that way." Stright taper will fit me better anyway. :teeth:

I'm a big fan of the eyebrow wax....and if you find someone good, they should

1) lay you down on a table with lots of light or one of those lighted magnifying mirrors
2) wax the hairs below the eyebrow arch
3) Tweeze the strays and shape them.

I agree as well to not have them done really severe - my eyebrows are not too thick nor too thin, and what's nice about getting them waxed is that you can tweeze inbetween waxes and keep most to all of the shaping for close to a month or so.

As far as pain goes, it's really not so bad. (believe me, i've had "THE WAX" done and the eyebrows are a piece of cake!)

Eyebrow arch is amazing. I try to get one about every 3 weeks, it opens up your face like nothing! Its the cheapest facelift ever.

Yes there is maintenance but it is worth it. I go to a salon and I do not believe all places are equal (I had a real bad one once, seriously ONE) I looked like a lopsided fool.

I really need one now, must make appointment. If you were in the western suburb area of chicago I would send you to Christina at Zazu in Hinsdale.

I ask them to follow the arch.

I get my eyesbrows waxed too !!!

Mine cost about $7 and I go every 2-3 weeks, depending on how fast they grow back... The turn red for a little bit, then they look normal again..

I get them done when I get my nails done so I go right to a nail salon but have had them done at a barber shop as well

I refuse to pluck my own brows !!! ouch !!!

MAKE SURE... they use lotion as well.. This is actually a dis-infection lotion.. Since you will have many opened hair pores..

have fun...

I go about once a month and get mine waxed for $10. It is well worth the money and quick owwie involved

It is very addictive and makes a huge difference on your appearance. I get mine done every 6 weeks when I get my hair cut - $15 plus tip.

My person is great because she uses "witch hazel" on my eyebrows after so they don't itch or swell (very sensitive skin here...)

I get my brows waxed at the salon every 2/3weeks.

It is painful at first but you do get use to it and it doesn't really hurt at all anymore. I had my legs waxed once - NEVER AGAIN!! That was PAIN!!

OK, who has the sign, "this thread is worthless without pics"? :rotfl2:

One good thing about having light hair. Except whenever I get a pedicure/manicure I'm always asked about the eyebrows. What eyebrows? :rotfl2: Or maybe I do need to get them done.... :confused3

i am a strawberry blond-and true to my breed have very fine hair and almost tranluscent eyelashes and eyebrows. i had a sledding accident one year and ended up losing a large chunk of my eyebrow that refused to grow back for several years. because i did not like the look of eyebrow pencil on bare skin i opted to have waxing done to even out the appearance of the two brows.
all i can say is OOOOOOOOOOOOOCH! i cannot imagine voluntarily having this done on a regular basis, but i must say that it is a very effective manner to achieve the desired look. i would suggest getting several reccommendations for a practitioner before using them (hot wax can cause severe burns and you do not want to be careless around your eyes). if you have a cosmetology school nearby you might want to call and inquire if a lic. or specialized training is required in your state so that you will know what you need to ask when scouting out potential practitioners.

I was looking at my advatar, I want Areils eyebrows, do you think you can do that? ;) :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I think good eyebrows make a huge difference in your look. I wish I had a magic eyebrow wand to fix everyone's eyebrows (esp. those who have overplucked through the years).

I had mine done one time and I really couldnt tell much of a difference.

See, I knew you couldn't stay away!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc The question now is, what shape is your eyebrows in? :flower:

Buckalew11, you could use that little magic wand on me. Heck while we are at it could it take care of the hair on my legs? (that one is a whole nother story! :rotfl: )

Forgot to mention

The only time I can't have my eyebrows waxed is when I am pregnant. OUCH! The pain is so intense.

Normally, it just hurts for a second and that's it.
