Yes, we have but nothing we could not live without. A camera, money that was not meant to be a tip but was taking, never more than $10, cc when ordered off Disney store online. Now I use Disney gift cards for everything. But we said this once on a board and everyone got mad at us, we went to paradise peir a few years ago, maybe 2009 or so, and housekeeping was on strike I remember they picketed on the sidewalk out front. That was not the problem, one night when they were leaving the job we saw several, I would say 5 or 6, trading there goodies for the day. I have a camera, I have a baby blanket, I have mouse ears, I have ect... I'll trade you my ears for your blanket, I'll trade you my camera for your phone. It was a huge turn off, but what really got me more was they were not even off the side walk yet, they were standings to he light between paradise pier and grand Californian. Nothing is safe in your room. And to know what they were saying you did have to speak Spanish, not that they were all spanish or anything, just that many tourist just walked by, but I speak Spanish and knew what they were saying.

On our honeymoon, we left to enjoy activities for the day. We locked up all the valuables but had a bag of snacks sitting on the top of the mini fridge area. When we returned the whole bag was gone. We reported it to the club level staff and she said that happens sometimes. I thought that was a weird answer. So she took a list of our missing goodies and sent a worker to target to replace them. A few hours later he arrived with the new goodies.

Some prescription pain meds ( vicodin )..I kinda blamed myself too for leaving them on the sink, I was recovering form a bad knee injury and one morning forgot to put them back in the safe..I threw them in my make up bag and left it on the sink..came back that night in agony..went for the meds and they were gone. Hubby and I searched the whole room and they were not there. Disney couldnt care less as I couldnt prove it..my word against the housekeeping..they inferred they were probably thrown out by accident! I dont think they were. Now we are extra careful to make sure anything of value is locked in the safe.

I'm curious - My family and I were at Disney a few weeks ago. While we were there, the one day my husband accidentally left his credit card in the room we had almost $2K in unauthorized online charges occur that same day. We usually always lock up valuables like our iPad, gift cards etc. The fact that that card was the only one we had with us - and that all our other accounts were not compromised at all, leads me to believe somehow a staff member get hold of the number. We had housekeeping and maintenance in our room that day. We weren't held liable for the charges and the hotel manager was very concerned - but I'm wondering if this happened to anyone else. I know I've read on here several times about people feeling safe leaving valuables out in their rooms... might want to be more careful!

I don't know if this is what happened, but we've had unauthorized charges on our credit card when we didn't lose the physical card (several times while in Las Vegas, but the charges looked like they originated in other parts of the country). People can use some kind of a device that electronically grabs your card number, if they are in close enough proximity to the card. I don't know how it works, but I'm certain that's what happened to us. Our newer cards have some kind of protection built in to prevent this.

Yes. Some clothing - It's a really really busy place with way too many visitors so bound to happen. It's getting too pricey to enjoy now anyway. Nickel and dime it seems sadly.

My son left 20.00 on the table in our room - he was going to grab it and forgot.

When we went back to the room 4 hours later housekeeping had been in and the 20.00 was gone. Coincidence? I think not.....

My husband keeps leaving his laptop out at every hotel we stay at. I keep telling him to put it away. So far he's been lucky and hasn't had it stolen but I really wish he'd just put it away to be safe.

I wouldn't necessarily see this as stealing. Housekeeping could have have assumed that it was a tip for them. That's where I leave my housekeeping tips...on a table or kitchen counter.

We have never had anything stolen. I left a camera in the park, on top of a garbage can when I put it down to get something out of purse. I went to lost and found later that day not expecting it t be there...but it was. I left a credit card at raglan road one night and didn't ntice it was gone until at the airport. Called them, they had it but for security reasons would not mail it back. I told them to cut it up, called the credit card company and asked them to replace the card but not change the number. Never had An adverse activity on the card.

I leave our chargers, iPads, etc out in the room all the time. I do put wallets and my husbands Rolex in the safe though.

I was down in the Fiesta Fun Center (now the Wave) and they had one of those cool shooting galleries where you put a quarter in a rifle and as you shoot things they become "animated" or whatever. Anyway, I picked one that never seemed to run out of shots. My mom went back to the room and told me to come up when I was done. Well, what must have happened is someone fed a BUNCH of quarters into the gun. While I was shooting he/she stole my wallet. This was our first night there and I lost $50 I had been saving just for this trip. This was in 86 so that is probably about $200 today. I was devastated. Anyway. because Disney is so busy, and because people feel safe there, criminals thrive. You have to be vigilant. Don't carry anything that you don't want to lose. Carry stuff as if you are in a foreign country. You will be a target for someone if you don't plan for safety.

Momma Bear went into the ladies room near the entrance to DTD last week. The lady next to her when she was washing her hands had found an IPhone 6 just there laying on the sink. The woman said "I'm just going to leave it here so the person who left it can come back and get it."

As soon as the woman left, Momma Bear took the phone to the nearest employee and stayed there till someone from security could come pick it up. Per the security person, this happens frequently and they would hold the phone until its owner claimed it.

This was not an instance of theft but it easily could have been. There was no way that Momma Bear was going to leave that phone there awaiting its owner's return.

Disney could care less and told us there was nothing they could do. They asked housecleaning and they didn't have the phone.
So....
I used findmyphone app to track it down then I used google maps to give me and address.
Got the address and searched the counties appraisal district for the owner of the address.
Got her name.
Ran her through facebook and what a coincidence, she worked for Disney in housekeeping.

I then contact the police and the officer when and chatted with the lady. He then left and called me and I described her to him (from photos on FB) and described her perfectly. He made sure I was going to press charges then went back up to the door and at that time she gave it up.. claimed she was turning it in on her next shift.

PD shipped the phone to me. They were awesome.. Disney Co. sucked.

That is so mean. I hope Disney found out about this. She should have been fired.

Ugh, I hate reading all this. Disney always feels like such a safe happy bubble.

When we were there a couple of weeks ago, I developed a terrible habit of leaving my Iphone 6 in the parent console of our stroller. In the past (pre magic band/MDE/FP+) I always left my phone tucked deep in the backpack or even in our room in the safe. But I was always having to use my phone to check wait times or adjust FP+ times and then just being Disney careless, would put it in the parent console and start pushing the stroller to the next destination. (I wear a lot of sundresses in the park so no pockets.) Then I would accidentally leave it when we went into the next attraction or restaurant. Several times I ended up rushing back to the stroller in a panic and there it was, right where I stupidly left it. My husband could not believe how many times I did this and I didn't even have a good excuse!

After reading all this I feel luckier than I already did that nobody snatched it up! Hopefully I'll remember these stories on our next trip.

Me...my wallet with ID's, CC's, a little bit of cash and etc, which was left in my room (not in the safe). Also some personal items which were stowed away on a luggage cart in their storage room waiting for my room to be ready. This was 3 years ago at the Poly all on the same trip with in 2 days of each other. I received a letter about 6 months after our trip stating Disney was sorry and would reimburse the money that was stolen.

My mother had a diamond tennis bracelet stolen during a stay at OKW probably 10 years ago. Management did nothing for my mother.

Well, it's not like they can take a stroller on a ride.

I'm amazed at how people used to feel (not so much anymore I don't think) that WDW was immune to theft. Never leave anything of value out in plain sigh in ANY hotel room. We use our room safes (hotels and cruises) for cash, cc's, jewelry, etc and have never had anything stolen. I've also never left anything anywhere. I'm extremely aware of what I have with me at all times. It's how my mind works.

My son also had money stolen from his wallet in the arcade. This was at POP around 2007. It was $20. They did give us Mickey money to make up for it.

My husband thinks a phone battery pack was stolen from our room a few months ago. Think it most likely got lost.

Not a "people theft" story . . . but every time I go to the Living Seas Pavilion at Epcot (aquarium, Finding Nemo Ride & Coral Reef), I pass by the stroller corral & am always amazed by the hordes of squirrels, critters and birds literally ransacking the strollers. You can see them crawling through children's clothing, helping themselves to popcorn, granola bars and goodies and licking straws to open soda cans. They are literally dipping and diving through the stroller and contents. EWW! Clearly, the critters know this is an open buffet and have done it for a long time. But I'm guessing many families that park their strollers here are not aware that their snacks (open or otherwise) & children's clothing is about to have a close encounter with furry & feathered wildlife. While families may have little choice but to leave their strollers here, keep in mind that tasty snacks will draw squirrels and birds like the plague. The CMs try to keep a general eye on the area but they aren't park rangers and can't fight off the squirrels. If you have a rain cover or even a clean garbage bag, use it to try your best to cover your stroller. Anything that will discourage the invaders is better than nothing!

Good that you were indemnified! "People feeling safe leaving valuables in their rooms", that is WHAT SAFES ARE FOR! When you are raised in a major metro area, you realize that "we are not in Kansas anymore", lol! Yea, is it a pain always locking up valuables? ABSOLUTELY! IMO, there is no place that is safe from theft!
