Have you ever gotten picked to join in the parade or be "Grand Marshall"

He was just standing in front of Country Bear concert hall waving and Dale came over and led him out ot dance wih him and other characters and small chidren. He Had a great time he was 4 yo at that time.::yes:: :wave2:

We were grand marshals. We had just come out of the City Hall in MK after getting our son a "It's my birthday" button. We were approached by a CM who asked if we were having fun. We said yes and started talking. Next thing he asks if we want to be Grand Marshals...

We were chosen to open Epcot last week. We were at the rope drop and asked a CM to come closer so we could look at his pins. He then sends another CM over to ask if we would help them open the park. We got to lead the countdown and got a pass to go on any one ride as much as we wanted through the FP line. We got our fill of Test Track!

My college roomate and I were picked! It was in 1998! We were having a great time...we have great pictures of that day!!!

For us the CM was walking the rope speaking to families, and when she got to us I turned on the Disney charm. All smiles, really enjoying ourselves, asked her all sorts of questions about her town, college program etc. After we were picked it followed the same routine as Suzflee stated. We used out fastpass for Mission:Space. We also got a card saying we were family of the day.

DS got pulled into the MK Magical Moments parade 3, 4, maybe 5 times. (He was 6.) I have no idea what we did, but I'm sure a huge factor was that the park wasn't very crowded (early May). Looking back through the pictures, I don't really see any kids standing on the sidelines. From everything I've read, going in the off-season increases the "neat" factor dramatically.

The only other thing that might have been a factor is my own sheer joy when in DisneyWorld! I see so many pictures of adults just staring with blank expressions on their faces. I point & hop around -- "OOOoooo Look at THAT!!!" :hyper:

:Pinkbounc I'm goin' to Disney World!!!! :Pinkbounc
(Sorry--I can't help myself.)

Hope you get picked.

Our littlest ds was picked to participate in the mk parades a few times. He was really cute back then, he is older now, and he is friendly and smiles alot so I guess that helps. He also is patient and has good manners, I noticed another mom whose child was not picked just pushed her daughter right into the participation. We all looked around at her. Gee, I guess she just didnt get it that you were suppose to be picked by the cm. Oh well. I also did have a cute mickey shirt on him the one day too.

If you a waiting for the parade in a certain spot a Disney cast member will come to you with a sticker and ask your child to be in the parade. When you see them start to set up the area for the parade you can aske where these spots are. I think the spots are where certain parts of the parade stops.
Good Luck,
Irene

Our kids were part of the parade as others have said by getting stickers before the parade started, they ended up joining in at 2 different parts. Also, while in Epcot we were asked to be in a commercial so we spent about an hour walking across the same strtch of pavement while they took about 20 takes. We ended up seeing our lower halfs on a commercial on the Disney Channel.

Dh and I were chose as the Grand Marshalls in the Magic Kingdom parade in January 2003. It was one of our most magical Disney memories (the whole trip was magical!). It was about an hour after MK opened, we were running around like crazy trying to get all the character's autographs near the flag pole. CM, Robin, approached us and started to chat about our trip, our day, etc. DH kind of stands out in a crowd. He is 6'4, about 250lbs and wears Tigger ears every day of the trip, and he wears a lanyard covered in only Tigger Pins. Robin chatted with us for about 5 minutes...we were very friendly with her but I was getting impatient...we had things to do. She asked us if we knew the best spot to watch the parade, I mumbled some answer... She said the best spot to watch it was from the front and then she asked if we wanted to be the Grand Marshalls!!?? Of course, we said yes!! The morning was a complete blur since we knew we had to meet Robin at a certain time before the parade. We were in Walt's electric car, the first in the parade, the band was right behind us. The driver of the car was awesome, lively and very friendly. We had a blast. I couldn't stop smiling and felt like royalty! It was a day I will never forget! :)
Thanks for asking...Dawn

OH my GOSH -- stickers?!?!!!
I was looking through our pictures a few days ago & noticed a Mickey Mouse sticker on the shirt I was wearing at the parade. I don't remember how I got it, but I'm sure no one said anything about it being for the parade. I just went & checked the photo album--DS is also wearing a Mickey sticker in the photos. (along with a Doug t-shirt from the live Doug show at MGM :) ) For the life of me I can't remember how we got them...
Maybe we got them at CP. We did a character meal at CP right before the parade. (I remember that because we rushed out for the parade & forgot to pay the bill. :o We--and others--went back to pay after the parade.) We also went to Toontown, but I think that was after the parade. I just don't remember...
Wow... Is the sticker the reason DS was picked so many times?!?! :worried: I was just assuming that DD would also be "lucky" with the parades since we're going after the Easter rush. She has high expectations because of her brother's experience. I'll have to keep an eye out for those stickers. Thank You for mentioning them Irene!!

P.S. Be sure to take a photo of a float with the name of the parade on it so that you can always remember the name of the parade. I would not have been certain about "Magical Moments" without the photo.
