Have you ever done something that would shock your neigbors?

When you see some stories on the news, the neighbors are always being interviewed and they all say the same thing. "We lived next to ___________ for years and had no idea>"

Just wondering if you have ever done anything that no one outside your house knows that might shock them if they ever found out.

DP and I have, but this is a family board so I won't share.

Well, my neighbor beside my mom's house whom I grew up next to was just charged with 11 counts of animal cruelty. Known him most of my life. That was a shocker.

My father in law did, he was caught doing a very private thing in front of a window & was arrested.

Lived several years across from a murderer and had no idea. The murder wasn't solved for about 5 years... and there he was, just across the road.

DP and I used to make money broadcasting a webcam over the net and we were involved in a certain lifestyle before DD was born.

Not someone I knew personally, but just before I started a job at a non-profit, one of the employees was taken out of the office in handcuffs because she ran a prostitution ring in her spare time. No one in the office could believe it, although some did wonder how she could afford designer clothing on a non-profit salary.

Umm, how much of a disaster my extra room is. They would also probally be shocked about my hobbies.

Well the question is have you done anything, not what a co-worker or neighbor did. I was just wondering if you had ever done anything that if people found out would shock them.

I doubt it. Some of my neighbors are pretty out there.

Are you kidding? My neighbors think we're strange for opening the windows on perfect weather days (although I've noticed several of them have begun following suite!) and putting single candles in all our windows at X-mas.

I've done lots of completely legal, completely moral and ethical things that would make some of my neighbors keel over from shock on the spot.

My DH tried to tell me that people here would consider us "exotic" and I didn't believe him. . .

I think it would depend on the neighbors. So, probably.

I'm a clean freak at work, but when I get home, I do the minimal. Admitting that has shocked people.

Depends on what people consider shocking.

Some of neighbors were shocked that DH and I were in a produciton of Pippin and that we let our kids watch it. They told us so. In one see DH and I had to be "all over each other" and they were stunned we would do that on stage. We told them we felt lucky to be able to act that scene with a spous, no one else had that luxery. We really weren't doing anyhting, but we had to make ti look real.
DS (my youngest) was the understudy for Theo so of course he saw the show. He saw most of the rehearsals also as did his big sister. They do not appear to ahve been scarred for life.
The director toned the show down quite a bit for our small town but it was still too much for some people I guess.

Other nighbors were surprised and "freaked out" that we had a compost in with red worms in it in the laundry room. Whatever.

But no, we do not have deep, dark secrets (and we did I owuld not post them here).
