Have you ever checked your stroller as luggage?

We'll be flying to MCO in a couple of weeks. I'll have my two children (2 & 4) with me, plus two single strollers, my Mom, and my Sister. I was thinking about buying a stroller bag and checking one of the strollers as luggage and checking the other stroller in at the gate so I'll have it in the airport for the 2yo. Does this sound like a good plan or should I just gate check both strollers? Will they let me gate check a stroller if it's in a travel bag? If I check it as luggage, will they kill it by throwing a buch of heavy bags on top of it?

What to do....what to do??!!!???

:confused3

We have checked our stroller before. At the airline desk, they gave us a large, heavy duty plastic bag to put it in. So I'm not sure I would worry about buying a bag for it. We were flying southwest.

If you have direct flights, I would check both strollers. I would only keep one stroller if you will be changing planes and have a long layover. We fly direct so it is one less thing to keep up with.

Our kids are 3.5 and 5.5. We've beent o Disney 3 times now and are going again in a few weeks. We always keep the strollers with us and check them when we board. It's so much easier than having the hold hands and make sure that the kids don't get lost. After we get our luggage we can easily put the folded stroller with the luggage is needed
