Hi -

We will be at BWV during my dd's 10th birthday. I mentioned it to MS when booking and when I received my confirmation today it states "Guest is celebrating a birthday" !

I was curious what MS might do for a child's birthday at BWV. Any first hand experiences ??

I am of course not counting on anything definate ... dd will be thrilled to just be at her favorite resort ... it's a surprise for her (she thinks we are staying somewhere else) !

;)

Thanks, Cindy

I'd suggest going over to Beaches and Cream and ordering a Kitchen Sink. The presentation is great, very nice for a birthday.

We celebrated my son's 2nd b-day at the BWV last August. I also had it noted on our reservations. During our stay, the staff left an 8x10, autographed photo of Mickey and friends along with 2 helium balloons. It was a very nice surprise. On the other hand, we also celebrated my 30th b-day at the VWL. It too was noted on the reservation, but no little surprises left. So the staff may do something special and they may not. I don't think that it is a definite either way. But I hope your daughter has a wonderfully magic birthday at WDW.

One b-day suggestion - Chef Mickey's really makes for a special birthday celebration if you let them know ahead of time that someone in your party is celebrating a birthday. Also be sure to pick up a Guest of Honor badge stating that it is your daughter's birthday at the City Hall in Magic Kingdom. Cast members went out of their way to make my son and me:) feel special on our b-days.:p

We celebrated our DS 5th at BWV. He too received an autographed/personalized 8 X 10 of Mickey with two heliums attached. Unfortunately by the time we got home from the parks, the balloons were dead! He kept asking, "Why did Mickey send me dead balloons?" LOL

We did Chef Mickey. We called in advance and they made him a birthday cake and Mickey delivered it personally to him at the table during the "Celebrate" song. It was delicious.

Get a button at MK at City Hall. You never know what might happen. We got to go to the front of a couple of rides when CM noticed his button!

We've celebrated several birthdays there. Last one was for MIL. We had an 8:30 ressie, so after dinner we went out on one of the balconies and watched firworks over the MK very cool. The food is so-so (breakfast is better there), but the atmosphere is fun, and we always enjoy the characters.

We have celebrated 2 birthdays at OKW and each time they were brought pictures and a balloon. When we had a b-day at BWV-nothing. I too would suggest that you do a character meal. We ate at O'hana's and they brought out a cake and Mickey, Goofy, Chip, & Dale all came over to give it to her.

Thanks for the suggestions !

DD has decided she'd like to do the character b'fast at the Grand Floridian after spending the morning in MK. I'll be sure to pick up the birthday button - what a fun idea !

She'd like to have dinner in Cinderella's Castle. I ordered a small cake when I made the PS arrangements. Hopefully I have timed it right so we can see the MK fireworks from the castle as we finish eating !

I am so excited for her - what a way to celebrate !
It is a nice touch for MS to send up balloons, cards, etc. at times.

I was thinking of calling and asking if I could purchase a Pal Mickey and have him waiting for her in the room when we check in. Does anyone know how I can do this? Do I contact MS or the resort directly ?

Thanks again ! Cindy

I would call the resort directly - I know that VWL/WL has a special program where if you give 24 hours notice they will fix a special cake - so I am pretty sure that BWV will have the same type of thing. call and ask what they suggest.

Crystal Palace at MK is fun for celebrating birthdays. The birthday kids get to dance with the characters and they make a big fuss over the birthday kids.

Celebrated 12 yr old birthday at BCV last week. I mentioned at check-in, and they asked for favorite Disney character and that they would leave a card & balloons. Nothing happened. Next day mentioned it again at the front desk - still nothing. Third day mentioned again, and also let them know we had reservations at Cape May for 6:00. When we were seated at dinner, they had balloons, salt water taffy spread all over the table, and a nice chocolate dessert with candle. They tried to sing happy birthday but he had left the table by then. We then returned to the room and had more balloons, an autographed bithday picture from Goofy, and a plate of cookies. Extra special !! We also got "Today is my Birthday" buttons from guest services at each of the parks, and he was greeted with birthday wishes throughtout the parks.

We were at BWV's last year and celebrated several birthdays. My DS, two neices, brother in law, sister in law. My son's was first - we were down there before everyone else - he got a wonderful cake sent up from room service. It was such a great surprise! It came with "pixie dust", party hats, party blowers, and a card. The others were all sent up a card - a photo card of a character - and balloons. They were wonderful! I had mentioned to MS when I booked all the rooms that we were having a family reunion and that we were celebrating all the August birthdays while we were there. I never mentioned it again! I think it all depends on who checks you in. If they are up for it they pass on the information.

I love celebrating the kids birthdays at Disney :bounce:

On our first stay at OKW my niece celebrated her 14th birthday. Before we left I had contacted MS and made ressies for a birthday dinner at Chef Mickey's (then located at DD) and arranged for a birthday cake to be delivered to our room. At Chef Mickey's the CMs & Mickey sang to her and it was great fun. When we returned to our room there was a birthday cake, balloons, paper plates, napkins and a card 'signed' by Mickey and Minnie. She is now 24 and still talks about it! I can't recall the exact cost of the cake but it was worth it.
You can arrange for the cake to be delivered by contacted the resort or ask MS and they can guide you.

Since you'll be at the Grand Floridian, some other options you might want to consider to make the day extra special:
Pirate Cruise (my dd's did it twice and loved it both times)
Alice in Wonderland Tea Party
Spa - Mini Facial (my dd did this and had a great time feeling like a "grown up" - they were great with her)

Just some ideas to check into.
