Have you ever boycotted a product due to a moral issue?

For a while I refused to buy tuna until they modified their practices to avoid or diminish killing dolphins.

Funny the first responce is the only thing I ever boycotted. My mom boycotted the proctor and gamble because of them testing their products on innocent animals and torturing them during the testings.

Nike. Probably other shoe companies manufactures their shoes in sweatshops, but Nike was one of the earlier ones that I remember. Also grew tired of seeing "swishes" on jerseys and what not and the marketing hype that their equipment is the best.

Yes, I refuse to purchase anything with a Calvin Klein Label. Because of their racy ads using children.

They run about $100 each. I'm not trying to talk you out of one for moral reasons, rather $100 for a doll for an 11 year old might be a bit much, UNLESS, your daughter loves dolls. By 11, my daughter had no interest in them anymore.

My 6 y/o is getting the AG Bitty Twins for Christmas along with the double stroller and a bunch of clothes. These dolls hold up well and are meant to be played with.

I boycott Ben and Jerry's due to their support of Mumia (cop killer). This cop's wife is happy to get ice cream elsewhere. I'm sure I could think of others if I gave it a minute...

Erin :)

Yes I totally agree this also why I don't buy any of Paul Newman's products he also supports cop killers.

What? Do you have more info on this?

I'm still boycotting Exxon over the Valdez spill that we all paid to clean up. With the way oil and gas companies merge, they're probably still getting my money somehow.

I used to boycott a certain cosmetics company because they tested on animals in the early 80's but they don't anymore and I just bought a mascara from them the other day.

I also did the Tuna thing until they began using nets that does not catch dolphins.

Nothing right now.

Can I pretend like I didn't see that? Have I been living in a box all these years? Man, I love Cracker Barrel, especially on Saturday. ::cry:: Guess I'll have to find something else for lunch tomorrow.

It had to be a good 10 years ago. I bet they've changed management. ;)

I don't buy anything from Black and Decker - not for any moral reasons just because everything I've ever bought from them stopped working just after the 1 year warranty expired. I must have gone through 12 different appliances before I wised up.

I swore I would NEVER buy a GM car again after having such lemons in the 80s, but I just ordered a Pontiac Vibe. It's made by Toyota so I hope it's not a total dud like most GM cars. I even bought a Honda when I worked for a GM subsidiary, that's how disgusted I was with the GM cars.

Just tonight driving home I decided that I would never eat at a Ruth's Chris Steak House since they just abandoned New Orleans (where it was started) because of Katrina. Moved to Atlanta permanently. A friend of mine owns the Atlanta franchises, but I still refuse to ever eat there again out of loyalty to my New Orleans that is so desperately trying to recover.

I don't boycott anything, because frankly I don't care what peoples personal convictions are.

Whew! Does this mean I can have my chicken and rice tomorrow?

Nope, never boycotted anyplace or anything.

I don't go to WalMart, unless I absolutely have to, but that is because the stores here are dirty and yucky.

I will never buy another Chrysler product because the 2 cars I have purchased from them (1 when I was 19 an 1 when I was 44) have been crap and the worst cars I ever owned.

I refused to buy V8 splash a few years ago because of a commercial they were running. They showed two kids drinking it on the porch and one of them spit the juice on the other one! :earseek: Kids will be bad without TV commercials giving them ideas.

I have and do avoid products and stores due to moral issues. More to the point, I patronize certain stores because of their leanings.

I've learnt some things on this thread!

WRT the Foo Fighters thing - this was on a thread recently with many posters pointing out that there is only one article that claims they are AIDS denialists and that many of them had been to numerous Foo Fighters' gigs and no such AIDS denialist literature had been handed out (besides which, the media would jump on it). Sounds fake to me.
