Have you ever bought a Disney hotel/ticket package but started the tickets early?

I really want someone to tell me Disney are wrong!! LOL!!

I had hatched a perfect Disney plan and was going to book it today but have just phoned Disney to check a "just in case" question and they told me what I didn't want to hear! :sad1:

We were planning to do 5 days AoA then move to SSR for some respite. We were going to have to put the park tickets on the SSR reservation though in order to get the free dining plan. I was assuming with it being a 14 day ticket we'd be able to start it before we got to SSR but Disney are saying no! Boo hoo!!

I didn't want to do the value without dining at the end of the stay but I do really want to go there.

Don't suppose anyone has done anything similar and got away with it? LOL! Obviously don't want to end up at Disney for 5 days with no tickets!

You may be able to pick them up a couple of days early (I think I have read 3 somewhere however they could have changed) but not 5 days early and there are no guarantees that you would get them early at all.

If they are saying no - I would go with that.

Yeah have just found this info about 3 days. 3 would be fine as really our arrival day is late afternoon and we only ever hang out at the resort anyway.

Decisions to take the leap of faith or not!! Eek!! I so don't want to do it the other way round!

I had this issue as we were going to stay off site first and then start the disney package. I contacted Disney via e-mail and they sent me a reply stating that we could pick the tickets up 3 days early. Also on the Theme Parks Touring and Strategy section there is a sticky on tickets that contains the same info stating that you can pick them up early. In the end we never needed to do it as we satyed on site first but I would be confident enough that it could be done.

I would e-mail Disney and have it confirmed in writing that you can pick up your tickets early - that way, there is no arguement when you arrive and try to pick up/use your tickets earlier than your second check-in date.

I doubt they will put it in writing Tony, their official line is you can't get them early. Some have posted they managed to get them upto 3 days early others have been told they can't.
I asked them about 5 years ago, I wanted to do a week offsite before onsite with free DDP and they said I couldn't so we stayed the whole holiday offsite.

Was just looking at Rach's reply above where she had e-mail confirmation, but I suspect that it is down to the individual you speak/deal with.

TBH, it's always worth trying a few times - I spoke to four different CMs when trying to move our stay at OKW this year back a day due to the AF flight cancellation - fourth time lucky we managed to get the dates moved back!!

You are right, you get totally different replies from CM's.
When we wanted to upgrade our 21 day tix to AP's a couple of month back we got anything from not being able to do it to silly money, it was all about finding the right CM who knew how to work the system to our advantage.
I guess its same with this, it probably can be done but its getting a CM who knows how and really wants to help.

Thanks everyone. We have decided to risk it. Decided just to book AoA for 4 nights though and as the 1st night is our arrival night when we would always just hang around the resort then I'm happy with that. Hopefully we'll be able to get the tickets 3 days early and head to the parks on our first day but if not then we'll just have to properly relax and maybe do a bit of shopping.

Excited!! Now to get seriously saving!!
