We try to do AT LEAST one every trip....especially if we can get the boat out of the boardwalk and request Jeff our favorite captain...

We've also done it twice and will be doing it again for our Sept trip and our trip next January. Every time I bring someone new on vacation with me we do the cruise. My ds loves it because he always gets to "drive" the boat.

We did it once with some people from the DIS. Meeting them was a ton of fun and the view was great. It's not something I would do again, though.

Krista,

What night did you go on the cruise? My Mom & I were lucky enough to go on the cruise with Mousefest & Dis friends too! We went on Saturday December 6th.

We may have been on the same boat as you. Did you win the cruise from Deb Wills like us? Was your son on the trip with you but didn't want to go on the cruise so he stayed with some friends at Coronado Springs or somewhere? If that's you, I remember you!!! We were sitting across from you all bundled up under a blanket :), and we saw you later in the week at Epcot. I can't remember the names of the people we met. Cool! If was you, let me know! I have a really cute picture of the 4 people sitting across from us and I'll send it to you.

I've been on three separate Illuminations Cruises. They just keep getting better and better each time. On two of the three cruises, our boat captain has been Sylvia. She is the best.

I was going to go last trip, but I read somewhere ( maybe here ?) that someone was very disappointed with the experience. That the wind was blowing right at them, blocking their view. Seemed like a lot of money to send on something that could be ruined so easily.

We had the wind blowing in our direction through most of it but the thing that I found really disappointing was the view. :(

My DH & I were sat at the very back of the boat as we were sharing with other DIS members, but found when the fireworks started the bridge was blocking our view. I have read someone else say this since. We had to move forward but there were no seats left so we had to stand throughout the show. A bit of a let down as we were really looking forward to.

It's put me off trying another one...

We shared one on 2/27 with Big V (Hi Scott!!) and another family. We had a wonderful time, and was a highlight of our recent trip!
!
We would absolutely do it again, hopefully next time it will be a bit warmer!

we did one! we were invited by tc and her DH to join them and Beauty and her family and jaypd and his wife. it was actually on our wedding day...we had gotten married earlier that morning, spent the day in epcot, went back to the resort to dress up a little, had dinner in Italy, and then joined everyone for the cruise! it was kind of like a reception for us...lol

we had a great time and i wouldn't hesitate to do it again! :)

Been on two! Both great! First one, my then 4yo DS got to
blow out the torch and start the show. Second, my nephew
who is autistic and could not have been in all those people
loved it!!! It was worth every little cent and all the phone
calling to see his eyes get wide and the little smile creep into
his face. We loved both our tours associated with the cruise
too! Our guides were very different in what they thought interesting so we've seen loads! I highly recommend it!

Don't they do a similar thing with children on the outside terrace of the Rose & Crown Pub, UK too? I bet that made your DS night! :hyper:

I voted for "never been"...

But we booked one for my Father in law's 50th Bday in May! Shh!! it's a secret!

But I only knew about them b/c of you wonderful folks on the DIS, so I"m really really really looking forward to it!

Krista,

That was us!!! What a small world - no pun intended!! That was so much fun, my son never got to see Illuminations and it didn't bother him at all! He doesn't know what he missed!

I can't wait to see the picture. I'll send you a pm with my email!

Hi Hockeymom 7691 - I'm so glad we both responded to this thread and that you read my post :). I'll send you the picture right away.

Krista :wave2:

We loved it!! It was a magical moment for sure. My MIL saw it in the Birnbaums guide and said she wanted to do that. She, DW, DD, DS and myself along with DVC friends we know from church went together. It was wonderful!!

Yes, IASW after all! ::yes:: ;)

Any chance of you posting the picture here Annette (hockeymom7691) & Krista (skporter)?

I'd love to see it! :bounce:

I will try to figure out how to put up the pictures later this afternoon :). I don't have access to my pics from work. Annette - if you know how to post pictures and want to post those, go ahead :).
