Luckily, I haven't. I think the worst one I've been in involved me and a guard rail (the guard rail won:o ). I hate to see car wrecks.:(

I don't if you'd say it was a wreck...

When I was 16, a BF was driving his VW Rabbit and as he tried to negotiate a turn on an icy road, he couldn't and we flipped on our side and skidded for awhile, but we were unscathed. Very shaken up though! Man I remember how upset my father was with him - whew! I haven't thought of that in years! LOL!

About 20 years ago, when I was on my way to work at about 6:30 a.m., a 90-year-old driver ran a red light and caused a chain reaction accident at an intersection where I was sitting. I was the third car (small Cavalier) hit - by two big full-size 4-door GM late 70's cars.

My car was totalled. They had to pry me out. I "enjoyed" the complimentary ambulance ride to the hospital on a back board. Luckily - everything was okay. No major injuries. (Looking at the car - you never would have guessed that was possible.)

The 90-year-old man was drunk, on his way home from a night of partying. Can you believe it? The worst part was that somehow HE found a lawyer to sue the rest of us - like it was OUR fault. It was thrown out pretty fast and we all got a settlement from his insurance company instead.

My brother has been in several. Thankfully he has never been serious injured.
One time he played chicken with a train and the train won. He jumped out in time.
Another time him and a friend were going up a hill, in the middle of the road, and a big truck came up the other side. His car flipped end over end four times. His friend was thrown out, he somehow or another laid down and grabbed the seat and only had a couple scratches and was dizzy.
My h was in a crash that almost killed the other driver. He sneezed at exactly the wrong time and lost his glasses. He T-boned a car and the guy was in a coma for a while. He's fine now, but it was scary.

a couple of them - none were pretty! :(

No, thank goodness, but I have been in several car wrecks! When I was in High School, I had a friend who, seriously, was the worst driver in the world! I have been in 5 car wrecks alone just with her!! Not bad ones, but after the last one, where I had this huge black and blue on my leg for a week, I decided not to get into a car with her anymore!! LOL To this day, whenever I see her driving in her car, I sort of move over to the edge of my side of the road a little!! :p:p

Had my car totalled by a drunk that was speeding and ran a red light in 1979. I had to have a few stitches but my SIL wasn't as lucky. She was in the hosp. a week and lost vision in one eye. My brother swears she was never the same after that and they divorced a couple yrs later. I think he was looking for an excuse to get out of a bad marriage and found one.

My 2 yr old nephew was suppose to go with us. My brother and SIL got in a big fight because my brother wanted us to take him and she didn't want to. As we were putting him in the car my husband decided to watch him, thank God because no way would he have survived. They never strapped him in.
When my SIL came to a bit she kept asking where her son was. Someone on the scene then started asking me if her son was with us. I freaked at first thinking that he was then remembered my sweet husband decided to watch him.
The drunk and 4 others were killed in a car wreck about 3 months later, this time it wasn't his fault, another car came into his lane.
The drunk also lived across the street from my SIL's mother! This was the third child that the drunks mom lost. One died from a drug overdose and the other committed suicide.
It was sad all the way around but I really felt bad for the drunks mom, I can't imagine losing 1 child let alone 3 regardless of how they died.

I haven't, but DS was in a couple when he was a teen. One time he took a curve too fast and wrecked his car, he was fine though. The other time he was at the corner on his way to school, nothing was coming from the right, he looked left and saw a truck in the right lane, going to turn, so he drove forward, never seeing the vehicle on the OTHER side of the truck driving straight through so he got hit broadside. He took a ride to the hospital in the ambulance, but he was fine, thank God. His car wasn't tho.

DH was involved in a wreck with the farm truck. He had just taken a load of soy beans to the elevator and was on his way home when a car (elderly driver, said he didn't see the truck) pulled out right in front of him. There was no way he could avoid the collision, and the truck ended up skidding down the road on it's side. The window was down and DH's back side was scraped up quite a bit from the pavement and his wallet was shredded but other than that he was fine, again thank God. I was ticked at the man who owned the house where the truck ended up in his front yard. All he could whine about was his precious lawn. I wanted to go up to him and smack him and tell him he should be more concerned about the people involved in the accident, than his stinking grass! Geez!!!

I was in a car that was hit by a drunk driver who almost hit us head on. He wound up hitting the back drivers side of the car and sent us into a telephone pole. A friend was driving and I was in the front seat, my 2 girlfriends in the backseat got the brunt of it. My one friend was in ICU for 14 days with head injuries. They had to pry us out of the car also. Something I never forget :(

Just one and I wasn't seriously hurt in it. My sister was though. A leak developed under the dash of the car (I guess you'd call it a leak, scalding coolant was spewing out under force). My sister was driving and she got 3rd degreee burns on her feet (15 years later and the skin on the top of her feet is like tissue paper, very bad burns). The car immediately filled with fumes and smokey vapors. You couldn't breathe or see anything. I told my sis to pull over which she did but she couldn't stop the car very well because every time she put her feet on the break they'd get burned. Unfortunately there was a telephone pole on the side of the road that we hit going about 30 mph. I didn't have a seat belt on so I hit the windshield (cost me two weeks of memory and a headful of glass but it did teach me to wear my seat belt). My sister did have her seat belt on but it didn't tighten up because she didn't have her foot on the break when we hit the telephone pole so she hit her head on the steering wheel really hard (bent it all up). I'll never forget her burns having to be cleaned every few hours and the agony it caused her (she's a pretty tough person when it comes to showing pain but she would cry and even yell a little dispite lots of painkillers and even more self control)

I rolled my VW four times out in Colorado and that's how I broke my neck......years ago.

Yup. I got hit head on by a 16 year old who used bad judgement and crossed over into my lane. I almost died from my injuries (I even had a near death experience :o :p ). The wreck left me disabled for life. :)

I have not been in a car accident, but a boating accident. My Dad had a racing boat and I drove it all the time. On Memorial Weekend 1997 I took my best friend up north to the lake (we were both 19) and we immediately put our bathing suits on jumped in the boat and took off. I made one pass on the lake turned to go the other direction, the wind caught the boat, we hit a wave at the same time and the boat went on it's side, my head was skimming the water as I tried to pull out of it. My friend and I looked at each other (this all seemed to go in slow motion) and then the boat flipped. My head hit the water (luckily we had helmets on) and next thing I know we are trapped under the boat in the air pocket, but it was sinking. We could not swim under the boat until we got our life jacket and helmets off. I could NOT get my helmet off (it was one of those loop through the two metal rings kind) so I started to panic, my friend helped me and we swam down under the boat to get out. "Luckily" there was a man with a pontoon boat (I put " " because he had about 8 kids on the boat with him and they were VIDEO taping the entire thing) they did not stop taping. So we got into the boat and sat there freezing it was so cold and the kids are taping us and asking us questions  :( So they started to take us back to our house, meanwhile a neighbor was watching through binoculars (a very common thing on this lake) and said hey I think your boat just flipped. Mind you my ENTIRE FAMILY is there. So as we are getting close to our house I see a very loaded pontoon boat with my family on it. So we all go back to the boat and watch it sink. Of course my dad jumped in to try to save it, tying markers on it. We are put into row boats (very scary) and taken to shore to the ambulance that arrived carrying the dive and recover team. (I guess when my Mom saw this -before seeing us- she about lost it) They thought we had hypothermia. We didn't so all in all it was a very bad experience, I haven't been on a boat since, my dad and friends dragged the boat out of the water and he had it repaired, my parents got a divorce a couple years later, and I had a bruise on my leg for about 3 + months and when I got home I saw my neck was torn apart from me trying to get the helmet off ( I had no idea) and I can still see the entire event perfectly in my head. Oh and I got a ticket for wreckless driving :( :D OMG, Sorry this was so long! My sister has been in two serious accidents (she broke her back in one):(

I haven't, but DH was in a terrible motorcycle accident right after I first met him. He was 16, riding dirt bikes, and had a head on collision with another kid. Four months in the hospital and countless surgeries later, you would never know he was hanging on by a thread for a long time. Its a terrible memory for me, and one that makes me cry just thinking about it. :(

Of course, as soon as he was able, he was back on his dirt bike. He's always loved motorcycles, and now has a Harley - though he only rides it on the road - not in the dirt. :) I do worry about him, but hey, he gets great pleasure out of riding his bike and finds it meditative, so who am I to stand in his way.

Unfortunately, yes. I was on my way to dropping my 20-month old DD at the babysitters so I could get to work. It was extremely icy and a semi truck cut me off (I must have been in his blind spot). I started fishtailing and he hit me which sent me spinning sideways over the curb, across a liquor store parking lot, across another street, into someones yard and sent my car halfway up a large tree. The front of my car was about 7-feet off the ground and the car was wedged into the tree branches so I couldn't open any of the doors. I ended up dropping my daughter out of an open window then climbing out myself (ripping my new wool coat  ).

The saddest part of all is that NO ONE stopped to help us. When I couldn't get out I was beeping the horn non-stop while literally dozens of cars drove by staring at us. It was truly a miracle that neither one of us was seriously injured. I was afraid to drop her out the window, but I had no choice. I did manage to walk to a car repair place and the guy there called the police for me.

There is a slightly funny part to this story though. While sitting in the back of the police car with my daughter, he asked me to tell him what happened. My daughter, who up until this point only spoke a few words, piped up and said "Trees fall. Mommy cry". Yep, that pretty much summed it up!

That day I walked into work and gave my 2 weeks notice. I just didn't feel working was worth it to me anymore. The commute was too much and I really felt the need to spend time with my daughter (who was an only child at the time). I never regreeted my decision.

Yep, about 5 years ago.
DH and I had just bought our 1st brand new car, just had 1200 miles on it, when a stupid freak ran a red light and smashed into us, pushing us into oncoming traffic where we got hit head on. Totalled the car and took me to the hospital. I had to have knee surgery and it has never been right since. DH was luckily OK and we were both able to walk away. Then the absolute jerk had the nerve not to show up for his court date. The put out a bench warrent on him, but how much good is that really going to do?
Can you tell I'm still a bit bitter?

Yes, at age 17 - a head-on collision. I was a stupid young girl and got in a car with a drunk driver. I am still a paranoid passenger and wish the drunk driving laws were stricter - there's alot of slaps on the wrists, but not enough jail time. :(

For a while I was known as "Crash", since I had a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but my worst accident was when I was in the passenger side of a rental car, driven by my then BF.
We had gone out with a friend of mine and the whole night I had a bad feeling about something. I kept nagging him to be careful. Finally I put my seatbelt on(at 20, I never wore it...you know, being invincible at that age and all) and I said "I dont want to die tonight". We were on our way home after dropping off my friend and all of a sudden a car was flying at us head on. They hit a puddle & hydroplaned. The entire fronts of both cars were gone. BF had an airbag, so he was ok. Police said if I hadnt been wearing my seatbelt I would have been through the windshield and probably dead. Instead I just hurt my chest really bad from the seatbelt, and messed up my knee. The ER doctor said everything was ok, but to this day, 11 years later, I still have discoloration(almost bruising) on my knee, and it hurts from time to time.

yes, i have. :( it was 5 years ago and i still get nervous sometimes when i'm in cars. it took me about 2 years before i could get in a car and not have a panic attack. my friend's (who was driving) car got totalled.

it was the first time in my life that i thought i might actually die, and it was really scary. :(
